James Bauman, 72
James Bauman, 72, of Neligh, who has relatives in the area, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Beyer Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill cemetery in Neligh. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
James Bauman was born April 5, 1926, to Frank and Alice (Rainbow) Bauman in Neligh. He attended school at Neligh where he graduated in 1943. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 24, 1943, and served overseas in campaigns at Bougainville in the Solomon Islands, Guam and Iwo Jima. He returned to the United States in 1946 and re - enlisted. He was sent to Korea in 1950 and landed with the forces at Inchon. He was also in the battle of Yndam - ni and Chosin Reservoir. He returned to the states after a little over a year. He was also a part of the American Expeditionary Force in Lebanon in 1959. He served at various posts and stations throughout the United States and much of the world. He retired from the marines in 1964 as a master sergeant. He returned to Neligh and served for a brief time as a deputy sheriff and also worked as a bartender. He married
Mildred (McAdams) Peetz on May 9, 1972, at Yankton, S.D. They lived in Neligh.
He served four years as president of the Antelope Country Club, during which time an irrigation system was installed and a new clubhouse was built. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5287 in Neligh and a lifetime member of the National Association for Uniformed Services.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; stepsons, Dr. Dwaine Peetz of Omaha, Forrest Peetz of O'Neill, Thomas Peetz of Concord, N.H., and Michael Peetz of St. Louis, Mo.; stepdaughters, Susan Ames of Neligh, Candace Pelster of Lincoln, Kristina Zimmer of Hays, Kan., Stephanie Peetz of Omaha and Kathryn Thiele of St. Paul; 28 step - grandchildren; a sister, Alice Donnelly of Hooper and a sister - in - law, Fern of Blair.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Clarence J. Christensen, 79
Clarence J. Christensen, 79, of Herman, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Campbell - Aman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.
Clarence Christensen was born Feb. 5, 1919, at Herman to Morris and Hattie (Petersen) Christensen. He attended the Broderson School in Herman. On April 17, 1949, he married
Leora Epperson in Herman. He farmed northwest of Herman for nearly 50 years.
In 1998, Mr. Christensen was given a special award for having the nicest garden in Herman.
He was survived by his son and daughter - in - law, Nels and Susan Christensen of Blair; two grandchildren, Stacy and Candida and one great - grandchild, Deven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Leora in November of 1997; one sister, Hazel Davis and two brothers, Dean and Glenn Christensen.
Virginia Soll, 68
Virginia Soll, 68, of Blair, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 21, at First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.
Virginia Rasmussen was born July 17, 1930, in Blair to Carl and Carrie (Iversen) Rasmussen. She lived her entire life in the Blair area. On March 28, 1964, she married
Clifford Soll in Blair. She worked as a dental office receptionist for 30 years and retired in 1991.
She was a member of First United Methodist church and the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford; daughter, Kathleen Salsbury of Blair; son and daughter - in - law, Mike and Sheryl Biffar of Blair; five grandchildren, Charles and Hollie Salsbury, Joshua and Jared Biffar and Kristin Magill; one great - granddaughter, Haleigh Lyne Salsbury; one brother, Ivan Rasmussen of Blair and two sisters, Loretta Pruner of Omaha and Leola Case of Oakland, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clifford; and two sisters, Evelyn and Marie Rasmussen.
Memorials may be directed to the Blair Rescue Squad.

Gary D. Andrews, 49
Gary D. Andrews, 49, of Marshall, Texas, a Blair High School alumnus, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas.
Services were Monday, Nov. 16, at the Austin St. Chapel of the Sullivan Funeral Home, Marshall. Rev. Jerry Thomas officiated. Burial was in Algoma cemetery - North in Marshall.
Gary Douglas Andrews was born Aug. 1, 1949, in Wayne to Kermit and Rayoma (Heikes) Andrews. He received his education in the Blair Public Schools. On April 10, 1971, he married
Jannie Fay Harris in Fort Worth, Texas. He served as an instruments specialist in the U.S. Air Force from December 1967 to November 1987.
He played quarterback for the Royal Air Force Mildenhall and RAF Alconbury teams while stationed at both bases. He was the league's leading quarterback for the United Kingdom in the 1979 - 80 season.
He received the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award with valor and one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars, Overseas Short Tour and Long Tour Ribbons, Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Training Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal with five oak leaf clusters and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was a member of the Marshall Men's Bowling Association and the Rusty Rail Country Club, Jefferson, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Jannie, of Marshall; one son and daughter - in - law, Scott Douglas and Jacki Andrews of Marshall; one daughter, Stacey Dawn Jones of Marshall; two grandchildren, Maeghan Jones and Blake Andrews of Marshall; his parents, Kermit and Rayoma Andrews of Bella Vista, Ark.; one brother and sister - in - law, Larry and Yvonne Andrews of Omaha; two nephews and one niece and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Mitch Augustine, Raymond Bice, Morgan Muse, Brad Allen, Jim Cummerford, Donald Beckner and honorary pallbearer was Jess Casey.

James C. Fauble, 84, of Blair and a Council Bluffs, Iowa, native, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Boem - Belford Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Rev. John Emslie, Jr., of Trinity Lutheran Church, Blair, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery in Council Bluffs.
James C. Fauble was born Dec. 2, 1913, to Clarence B. and Edith (Whitmore) Fauble in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was educated in the Council Bluffs Schools. On Dec. 24, 1939, he married
Lillian "Billie" Johnson. The couple lived in Council Bluffs and later moved to California. He worked as a building engineer for the Sheraton Hotel in Crestline, Calif. The couple had lived in Blair for 11 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Blair; one daughter, Sandra (Mrs. Donald) Hinman of Blair; three sisters, Helen Caughey of Blue Hill and June Prior and Zoru Swain of Lynn Haven, Fla.; six grandchildren; 11 great - grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair.

Ingrid M. Matzen, 73, of Blair, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Ingrid Maren Jensen was born Sept. 1, 1925, at Exira, Iowa, to Rev. P.C. and Kirsten (Schmidt) Jensen. She attended school in Sidney, Mont.; Blair and Kennard. She graduated from Kennard High School. She attended nursing school in Omaha and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She worked for Good Shepherd Home for more than 15 years. On Dec. 22, 1944, she married
Clarence Matzen in Marysville, Kan. The couple had lived in Blair since 1968.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Blair; four children, Larry and wife, Kitty Matzen of Omaha, Cindy and husband, Clyde Rothfuss, Diana Hansen and Susan and husband, Bob Trombo, all of Blair; nine grandchildren; nine great - grandchildren; two sisters, Dania Hundtoft and Ellenora (Mrs. Robert) Plugge, both of Blair.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven; one granddaughter, Tracy Bolton; one brother, Ansger Jensen and one sister, Bertha Olsen.
