Marjorie Krejci
October 21, 1937 - March 25, 2013
Marjorie O. Krejci, 75, died Monday, March 25, 2013 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
She was born on October 21, 1937 in Semans, Saskatchewan, Canada to Bill and Florence (Moline) Boyda. Her family moved to St. David, Quebec where she attended elementary school and high school at Stamford Collegiate. She then moved to Niagara-on-the- Lake, Ontario where she worked. There she met and married
her first husband, Lawrence Crow in 1963 and then moved to Nebraska. She later married
Joe Krejci in 1982.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, her children, Dave Boyda of North Platte, Eva Crowe of Danton, NE, Elaine Sutton of Indianapolis, IN, Emily (Garry) Connelly of Alliance and Liz Crawford of North Platte, as well as her foster son, Bob (Ann) Fulton of Alliance. She is also survived by her siblings, Evelyn, Ona, Al and Wilma of St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Clair of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Myra of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Esther, her granddaughter, Chrystal, and her brothers, Kenneth, Mickey and Clarence.
There will be two memorial services. The first one is Friday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. and the second is Monday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be at the Indian Mission Church of God with Rev. Don Mink officiating.

Samuel J. Zaro
December 14, 1919 - March 27, 2013
Samuel Joseph Zaro, 93, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his home.
He was born December 14, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA to Antonio and Antoinette (Guildanaro) Zaro.
Samuel served in the United States Army during WWII and received the Purple Heart.
He married
Amelia Marino in 1944 at Philadelphia, PA.
He is survived by his children, Paul (Betty) Zaro of Rockingham, N.C., and David (Lee) Zaro of Alliance, NE; his brother, Joe Zaro of Glenside, PA; sister, Marie McConnell of Philadelphia, PA; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at Red Hill, PA.

Ethel L. Andrick Anderson
January 28, 1919 - March 25, 2013
On Monday, March 25, 2013, there was great rejoicing in heaven as Ethel L. Andrick Anderson, 94, went home to be with the Lord, and join all the loved ones waiting for her there. She was at home, on the ranch that she loved, when she left this earth.
Ethel was born January 28, 1919 in a sod house in southern Sheridan Co., to William and Elsie (Pisel) Strasburger. She attended Alliance High School and became a teacher following her graduation.
On April 25, 1937, Ethel married
Ben F. Andrick in Alliance, NE. They resided there, until purchasing a ranch in Sheridan Co. She was an active member of Pleasant Point Community Church. Ethel was interested in everything around her, and avidly followed politics and loved reading. Upon retirement, they spent many enjoyable winters at San Benito, Texas, at the Fun 'N Sun retirement park. Ben preceded her in death on March 20, 1984.
Ethel continued to spend the winters at Fun 'N Sun, where she was a guide for up to three Stonecroft Friendship Bible studies, and was a mentor in the H.O.S.T. program of the Harlingen Schools. Ethel spent her life wholly committed to God, her family, and the church. She read through the Bible seventy-two times and memorized countless scriptures. She loved her family and had specific days she prayed for each member. She cherished the old hymns and was an avid proponent of having them included in worship. In her 90's Ethel penned numerous articles about her beloved hymns. She had the collection printed and bound into a booklet to share with family and friends. She was an extraordinary person, and has left a legacy to her family of incalculable value.
Ethel met John Anderson at the retirement park and they were married
in Alliance on May 22, 1987. He preceded her in death.
Ethel is survived by her children, Sandra J. Brungard, Twin Falls, Idaho, David W. Andrick, Ellsworth, NE, Ben F. Andrick, Alliance, NE, Lois E. (Dan) Hutchinson, Lincoln, NE, Susan (Ken) Holloway, Alliance, NE, and Marjorie (Rick) Guernsey, Alliance, NE.; 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Elbert (Ellen) Strasburger, Pat (Vesta) Strasburger, and Dean (Eleanor) Strasburger all of Ellsworth, NE.
In addition to her husbands, Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Brian, her brother Wesley Strasburger, and sister, Pearl Kroeze.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Point Community Church north of Ellsworth, NE. Pastor Bob Townsend will officiate. Graveside services will follow at the Alliance cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to World Vision, the Gideon's, or the Pleasant Point Community Church.
Ophelia Cole
November 28, 1915 - March 24, 2013
Ophelia Cole, 97, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.
She was born in Petty, Texas on November 28, 1915 to Joe and Rosie (Johnson) Beckett. She was also raised by her grandmother, Lizzy Wilson.
Her family moved to Clarksville, TX and from there her family moved to Omaha, NE where she attended school and later married
Lloyd M. Cole. They moved to Alliance in 1955.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Nadine) Cole of Des Moines, IA, Donald (Rosalinda) Cole of Alliance and Eddie (Barbara) Miller-Cole of Pampa, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angela Cole, Edward Harris, Amii Harris, Latoya Harris, Nathan Jones and Whitney Harris all of Alliance, , Robert Cole, Jr. of Long Beach, CA, DeShawn Cole and Lanina Cole of Capital Heights, MD and Ted Jedlinka, Tami Jedlinka and Corey Cole of Lincoln, NE and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sons, Lloyd Cole, Jr. and Robert E. Cole and her daughter, Mabel Harris.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roscoe Bills
March 24, 1920 - March 24, 2013
Roscoe W. Bills, 93, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
He was born on March 24, 1920 in a sod house of a farm near Lodgepole, Nebraska, to Charles and Ruth (Werhan) Bills. Roscoe graduated from Lodgepole High School and Hastings Business College.
On April 4, 1941 he was united in marriage to Elna M. Wightman in Hastings, Nebraska.
Roscoe proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in both the European and Pacific Theatres. Following his discharge he returned to Hastings and learned the flooring trade. He then returned to Lodgepole and operated his own flooring business known as Modern Floors and Walls. He served customers in a wide service area. In 1966 he and Elna moved to Alliance where he began working at Johnson and Peltz flooring company. Later he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a machinist until his retirement.
He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge having attained the honor of being a Thirty-third Degree Mason. He was also active in Eastern Star and was a sponsor of the Jobs Daughters ritual team for many years. Roscoe was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Marylund Henning of Cheyenne, WY, Brent (Collette) Bills of Federal Way, WA and Charles (Elaine) Bills of Lincoln. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, his brothers, Roy and Clarence, and his sisters, Hazel, Helen, Charlotte and Doris.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alliance with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant View cemetery at Lodgepole, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Knights Templar for the Children’s Transportation Fund.
John Joseph Walters
John Joseph Walters, 79 of Hemingford, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Heritage Estates in Gering, NE.
He was born in Alliance on January 27, 1934 to Michael and Mary (Shimek) Walters.
He served in the U.S. Army, being inducted Nov. 4, 1953. He took his basic training in Texas and then served in Germany as an aircraft mechanic. He was honorably discharged Oct. 24, 1955.
On April 28, 1962 he was united in marriage to Carol S. Donovan at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance.
John was a lifetime Hemingford area farmer. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 9, and formerly served on the board for Farmer’s Co-op and District 40 rural school board. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing and attending area auctions to add to his anvil collection.
He is survived by his children, Angela (Andrew) Grossman of Highlands Ranch, CO, Lori (Greg) Hamm of Colorado Springs, CO, Dan (DeEtte) Walters of Hemingford and Jennifer Walters of Springfield, VA, his grandchildren, Cade Grossman, Tayva Grossman, Cole Walters and Elijah Walters. He is also survived by his sister, Leona Wilkins of Hemingford, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol in 1992, his brothers, Floyd and Edward, a sister, Alma Walsh and an infant sister, Mary.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hemingford with Father Lou Nollette officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford cemetery with military honors. Wake services will be Thursday, March 21 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral in Hemingford.
