Louise H. Stressler

Louise H. Stressler, 88, of Denver, Colorado, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at her granddaughter’s home in Alliance surrounded by friends and family.
Louise was born December 12, 1923 in Kadoka, South Dakota to Sherman and Ruth (Matthews) Goodwin. She graduated from high school in Pierre, South Dakota in 1941.
In her life she took pride in working on the family ranch “from sun up until sun down for 50 cents a day.” During high school she helped set bowling pins by hand. She and her family moved from South Dakota to Denver, Colorado when she was approximately 19 years old.
On June 14, 1954 she married
Robert Stressler in Denver, Colorado and was later blessed with two beautiful daughters. In Denver she worked as a telephone operator and later for the Colorado State Revenue Department where she retired after 40 years of service.
Louise’s passions were gardening, her animals, and collecting rocks from where she went including Bad River, South Dakota. She enjoyed shopping at goodwill stores, garage sales and loved volunteering at local clothing banks in Denver. Her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Debi (Scott) Heidecker of Pine, Colorado, and Sandi Pratt (Mike McCauley) of Alliance. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katie (Ted) Robb of Alliance, Joe (Misti) Preston of Morrison, Colorado, Melissa Preston (Brian Lingle) of Littleton, Colorado, D.J. Pratt (Ann Underwood) of Alliance, and Travis Preston of Denver, Colorado; great grandchildren, Xavier, Xander and Xalynn Robb of Alliance, Antonio, Mistique and Jaiden Preston of Morrison, Colorado, and Arianna, Ashlynn and Brody Preston of Littleton, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law, Carl (Connie) Goodwin of Littleton, Colorado; brother-in-law, Steve Guman of Pensacola, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Osia Elliott, Eva May Guman, Lorraine Caldwell and Vera Reed; her niece Osia Hagert; her nephew Dale Elliott; and her beloved dog Tiny.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mabel M. Harris
February 7, 1956 - September 30, 2012
Mabel Marie Harris, 56, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Alliance on February 7, 1956 to Lloyd and Ophelia (Jones) Cole.
She is survived by her children, Angela Cole, Edward Harris, Amii Harris, Latoya Harris, Nathan Jones and Whitney Harris all of Alliance, her mother, Ophelia Cole of Alliance, her brothers, Robert Cole of Des Moines, IA, Donald Cole of Alliance and Edward Miller Cole of Pampa, TX and 9 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, and her brothers, Lloyd Cole, Jr. and Robert E. Cole.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in care of the family to Donald Cole, 107 Yellowstone Avenue, Alliance.
Margaret K. Ridgley
March 8, 1926 - September 30, 2012
Margaret K. Ridgley, 86, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.
A life-long resident of Alliance, Margaret was born March 8, 1926, to Carl and Margaret (Weinel) Kohrman.
She grew up on the family farm North of Alliance, and after graduating in 1944 from Alliance High, she worked for the Alliance Creamery where she met her future husband, Earl Ridgley. They were married
October 22, 1952 in Merna, Nebraska. After many years as a devoted homemaker and mother, she returned to work, joining the housekeeping department of St. Joseph’s Hospital, and continued her role in the gerontology center.
An active person in the community, Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, active in the Panhandle Country Music Association and volunteered at Good Samaritan Health Care Center and for the Mission Store.
Margaret is survived by her son Dennis and his wife Shirley of Aurora, CO, and by 3 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. The families include Sarah and Jerome Graves, their sons Ethan, Aaron and 1 expected child, Lauren and Jason Drury, and Claire Ridgley, all of Colorado. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Forsstrom of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her infant children, Diana and Gary, her sisters, Lillian Morgan, Rose Swanson and Dolly Kohrman; her brothers, John and Charles Kohrman.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be given in Margaret's name to Good Samaritan Health Care Center, the Panhandle Country Music Association or the organization of their choice.
Richard E. Bauer
October 1, 1946 - September 29, 2012
Richard Edward Bauer, 65, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska.
Richard was born October 1, 1946, to Oscar and Dorothy (Curry) Bauer in Alliance, Nebraska.
He graduated from Alliance High School in 1964. In 1966, Richard began a twenty-year career in the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam as a airplane and helicopter pilot, as well as tours in Korea and Turkey, and many stateside assignments. During his military career, Richard earned numerous commendations and awards.
After retiring from the military, Richard returned to his hometown of Alliance and eventually began a career in law enforcement, starting as a part-time correctional officer at the Box Butte County Jail, while also delivering mail in rural Alliance. He became a deputy sheriff in 1994, the same year he received the Nebraska Sheriff's Association Officer of the Year award, after retrieving a loaded gun from a defendant in District Court. Later that year he was appointed Sheriff for a full four-year term, due to the untimely death of Sheriff Mike Frerichs. Richard ran for two more terms, serving 12 years total as the Box Butte County Sheriff, before retiring in 2007. Richard enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Richard married
Carol Hooper on January 1, 1997, in Alliance, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, Carol; brother, Jerry (Doretta) Bauer of North Platte; sons Garry (Denise) Bauer of Alliance, Bobby (April) Bauer of Castle Rock, CO, daughter, Matisha (Andrew) Stratton grandchildren, Devin Bauer, Kayla Kriz, Nicole Bauer, Stephanie Bauer, Travis Bauer, Adrienne Stratton and Bethany Stratton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be Thursday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Nebraska Veterans cemetery at Alliance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery.
Marilyn Louise Asiala
April 12, 1932 - September 29, 2012
Marilyn Louise Asiala was born April 12, 1932 to Sakri Walfrid and Vieno Marie (Parkko) Asiala in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She attended Rock Spring Public Schools and lived with her parents and assisted in their home as a homemaker. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church where she attended worship and was involved in choir and ladies aide. She was an avid bowler and knitted and crocheted beautiful afghans.
Marilyn and her father, 'Wally', relocated to Alliance in 1987. After a brief illness Wally passed away and she made Alliance her home. She belonged to the Alliance Woman's Bowling Association, was a member of RSVP, and an active member of Immanuel EV. Lutheran Church. She loved music and attended the Alliance Country Music Jamborees.
In 2005 she became a resident of Good Samaritan Health Care Facility and loved all the residents and staff members. She was happy to be a member of the Good Samaritan "family" and participated in the many activities offered, bingo being her favorite.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Mae Francis. She is survived by her nieces, Barb (Jerry) Bowen of Murfreesboro.TN, Becky (Rick) Herian, and nephew Rob (Teri) Francis of Alliance, her aunt, Irma Ansalmi of Rock Springs, WY as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be Friday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church with Reverend Martin T. Schnare and Reverend Richard C. Mueller officiating. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.

Marjorie Prochazka
September 6, 1926 - March 29, 2012
Marjorie M. Prochazka, 85, passed away at her home in Hemingford on Thursday, March 29, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Marjorie was born at her parent's home by the Niobrara River to Harry and Lena (Annen) Delsing on September 6, 1926. She attended school at the Dawes County Country School, District #4 and St. Agnes Academy. After graduating from the Academy in May 1942, she attended one year at Chadron State College. She taught in rural schools for the next five years until she met and married
her beloved husband, Kenneth Prochazka. On April 6, they would have been married
for 64 years. Marjorie was very active in the St. Bridget's Catholic Church serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, Outreach minister, and laundering the altar linens. She was a member of the Alliance Deanery, DCCW, and St Bridget Altar Society, where she served as an officer and group leader. She also served on the rural school board and was a member of the Box Butte election board for many years. Playing games and cards with her family and grandchildren was one of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed quilting, counted cross-stitch, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, and her six children: Janet (Greg) Rosenberger of Council Grove, KS, Tom (Dianne) Prochazka of Hot Springs, SD, Kathy (Darrell) Roberts of Gering, , John (Robyn) Prochazka and Rod (Vy) Prochazka of Hemingford, and Tamra (Scott) Mills of Alliance; her grandchildren, Annette (Greg) Holladay, Jeff (Stacy) Rosenberger, Vanessa Miller, Melissa (Mike) Duncan, Matthew (Holly) Prochazka, Chad Hergenrader, Scott (Julie) Hergenrader, Tyler (Dorothy) Prochazka, Lacy Prochazka, Myles Mills, Gary Mills, Jacob Mills and Brettni Mills and fifteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Campbell of Hemingford and sister-in-law, Donna Delsing of Lincoln, a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Todd Prochazka, two brothers, Harold Delsing and Bill Delsing; two sisters, Bernice Wood and Bonnie Prochazka.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Bridget's Catholic Church with Father Lou Nollette officiating. A wake service and rosary will be held on Monday, April 2; at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held in the Hemingford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Hemingford and at the wake service.
Memorials may be sent to the Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association, Prairie Haven Hospice, or a charity of the donor's choice.
