Patricia Burri
December 23, 1922 - May 11, 2014
Rose Eleanor Patricia Burri, 91, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at her home in Alliance.
She was born on December 23, 1922 in Eggington, Bedfordshire, England to Alfred James and Rose Ellen (Leach) Williams.
On July 20, 1944 she was united in marriage to Robert Dale Burri in England, while he was stationed there with the 8th Army Air Corp. They later made their home on their farm northwest of Hemingford where they lived for many years.
Since moving to Alliance she has attended and is a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hemingford and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Her survivors are her children, Priscilla (Dale) Asmussen of Loveland, CO, James (Judi) Burri of Lakeside, Michael (Patricia) Burri of Hemingford and Gregory (Rita) Burri of Alliance, 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Audrey Lorenz of Shawnee Mission, KS and Mary Coxage of Crantock, England.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, a great-granddaughter, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford with Pastor Teri Lucas officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Lakeside United Methodist Church.
Gladys Solberg
June 4, 1925 - May 4, 2014
Gladys Solberg, 88, of Greeley, CO passed away at North Colorado Medical Center on May 4, 2014. She was born on June 4, 1925 to John and Elisa Nielson in Berea, NE
Gladys attended Alliance High School and graduated in 1942.
On April 22, 1942 she married
Jim O’Connor. Jim passed away in 1974 and she married
Mearl Solberg on September 27, 1975 in Longmont, CO.
Gladys enjoyed sewing, painting, camping, fishing, gardening, and bird watching. She was known as the family photo keeper. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Mearl Solberg of Greeley, CO; children, Tom O’Connor of Denver, CO, Mary O’Connor and husband Shah of Las Cruces, NM, Annie O’Connor and husband Ken of Boulder, CO; step children, Shelly Lantz and husband Larry of Greeley, CO; Sue Brooks and husband Scott of Littleton, CO, Sharon Carbaugh and husband Kevin of Greeley, CO; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jim, one brother, four sisters, and 2 children Marty and Dan.
A celebration of Gladys life will be Friday May 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 916 Cheyenne Ave, Alliance, NE 69301.

Mella "Mellie" McKinney
November 3, 1925 - May 3, 2014
Mella “Mellie” McKinney passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.
She was born November 3, 1925 in Elm Creek, NE to Claude and Fern (Fellows) McMurtry. She was the second of 4 children. Mellie married
Halley McKinney in Scottsbluff, NE.
She is survived by her four children, Connie (Bill) Watson of Alliance, Kay (Mike) Heimbuck of Foxfield, CO, Judy Duncan and Susie (Dave) Nielsen of Alliance, her grandchildren, Jimmy Watson, Chris (Alan) Noland, Ty Watson, Kelly (Zac) Brgoch, Cassie (Jeremy) Palmer, Jen (John) Frihauf, Janna Duncan, Clay (Melissa) Nielsen and Jo Duncan and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Gary (Judy) McMurtry of Scottsbluff, her sister, Ruth Hauschild of Ravenna and her sister-in-law, Bessie McMurtry of Scottsbluff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother, Jim McMurtry and her son-in-law, Jim Duncan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Gene Nerland officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice, 1118 Flack Avenue, Alliance, NE 69301 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Clyde J. Catlin
September 29, 1947 - April 28, 2014
Clyde J. Catlin, 66, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.
He was born September 29, 1947 at Anthony, Kansas to Arnold “Pete” and Dora P. (Duvall) Catlin.
Clyde attended grade school at Corwin, Kansas and high school in Hazelton and Attica, Kansas, graduating in 1965. In 1967 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War and was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze star.
Following his time in the service Clyde went on to become a Ford Master Mechanic and a Dodge Gold Star Mechanic. He worked at various Ford and Chrysler dealerships and later went to work for Alstom and Box Butte County Public Transit in Alliance. He retired in 2012.
He married
Sandra L. Wright on July 10, 2008.
Clyde was Past President of Spring Grove cemetery in Anthony, KS, and was a member of both the American Legion and Eagles Clubs.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Catlin of Alliance; his children, Michelle Brunmeier of Alliance, Michael (Amy) Hollinger of Mason City, IA, Shawn (Kate) Catlin of Anthony, KS, and Chelsea Catlin of Lee’s Summit, MO. He is also survived by his mother, Dora Headrick of Attica, KS; his brothers, Jack Silcott of Aztec, NM, and Donnie (Roberta) Silcott of Kiowa, KS; his sister, Sue Catlin and husband Dee of Attica, KS; 6 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claud “Peely” and Glenna (Newberry) Catlin and Ira and Millie (Drum) Duvall, and his father.
Memorial services will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Nebraska Veterans cemetery at Alliance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Veterans State cemetery at Alliance Foundation, P.O. Box 902, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.
Yvonne G. Edwards
March 20, 1924 - December 19, 2008
Yvonne Gene Edwards, age 84, died Friday, December 19, 2008 in Alliance.
She was born March 20, 1924 in Lead, South Dakota to John L. and Syble (Allen) Julius.
She graduated from Alliance High School in 1941 and attended Barnes Business College in Denver.
She married
Richard L. Edwards in Columbus, Mississippi on January 2, 1943. They lived in Alliance most of their lives except during WWII and a short time afterward.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and the St. Matthew’s Guild. She worked at J.C. Penney’s and a ladies dress shop for several years and, after serving as a receptionist at the Copsey Clinic, retired in 1986.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Ri (Jo Prie) Edwards of Yuba City, CA, Patrick (Jeanne) Edwards of Des Moines, IA and Rock (Janice) Edwards of Morgantown, NC. She is also survived by daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl (Todd) Harris of Alliance, NE, Judy (David) Bates of Yuba City, CA and Barb (Norm) Nuss of Alliance. In addition, she is survived by sister-in-law, Pat Julius and by special family members Don and Harriet Stull and family; eighteen grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Her husband, her parents, her husband’s parents, and a daughter-in-law preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. Father Don Huber will officiate. Inurnment in St. Matthew’s columbarium will immediately follow the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
