Caroline Dahlsten
ERICSON -- Caroline Anne Dahlsten, 62, of Ericson died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at her home after a two-year battle with cancer.
Memorial services were on Monday at the United Methodist Church in Ericson. The Rev. Cynthia Altstadt officiated.
Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell was in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Dahlsten was born on June 17, 1937, in Spalding to Peter and Effie (Cook) Dahlsten. She graduated from Ericson High School in 1955.
She married
Bob Mason in June 1957. They moved to Ashland and farmed and ranched. They later were divorced. She moved to Wolbach. She worked as a clerk in a grocery store until 1985, when she moved to Grand Island. She worked at Monfort and GIA.
She married
Dick Haith on May 20, 1988, in Grand Island. They moved to Ericson in 1989, and Ms. Dahlsten drove a school bus.
She was a 4-H leader, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Ashland Saddle Club and the Fire and Rescue First Response Team in Ericson.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Robert Mason of Ashland, Zane Mason of Pilot Point, Texas, and Billy Mason of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Angeline Mason of Bellevue; three stepsons, Dave Haith and Mike Haith, both of Grand Island, and Martin Haith of Lincoln; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Don Dahlsten of Ericson, Broc Dahlsten of Tucson, Ariz., and Mark Dahlsten of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sisters, Lynnie Dahlsten of Phoenix and Bebe Dahlsten of Ericson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Eric Mason; one grandson; and one brother, Oakie Dahlsten.
Rev. Harold Fox
RAVENNA -- The Rev. Harold Fox, 90, of Ravenna died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Congregational Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Doug DeNeui will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.
Mr. Fox was born on May 17, 1909, in Tulsa, Okla., to Quincy and Maude (Tanner) Fox. He graduated cum laude from Tulsa University in 1931.
He married
Leona Grace Johnson on June 16, 1935, in Tulsa.
He owned a floral shop in Tulsa. He later graduated from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He went into children's ministry and traveled throughout the country. He was a pastor in Arkansas, Wisconsin and California. He served as principal and teacher in Christian schools in California.
He retired to Missouri and moved to Ravenna in 1995. He served as a vacancy pastor in Nebraska.
He wrote children's books, made wooden toys and raised pansies. He wrote the Tidbit Newsletter that was sent throughout the country.
He was a member of the Congregational Church and taught Sunday school.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Virginia (Mrs. LeRoy) Teichmeier of Ravenna and Phyllis (Mrs. Bill) Williams of Fiji; one son, David of Ammon, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Marie; and an infant sister.
'Don' Hansen
ORD -- Donovan "Don" E. Hansen, 67, of Ord died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Hansen was cremated. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Michael Chase will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Ord City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Ord Chapter of AA.
Mr. Hansen was born on Nov. 8, 1932, at Ord to Leonard and Mae (Trompke) Hansen. He grew up in Ord, where he was educated and graduated from Ord High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force from September 1952 to August 1956.
He married
Eleanor Burton in December 1953 in Oconee, S.C. Mr. Hansen worked as an electrician in South Carolina for much of his life. After his retirement, he moved to Ord.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7029, the American Legion and Nebraska State Racing Commission. He served as a groom and enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include three sons, Craig, Gregg and Lynn, all of Gaffney, S.C.; one daughter, Vinnie (Mrs. Donald) Thackston of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren; his mother, of Ord; and one sister, Sharon (Mrs. John) Blaha of Denver.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joey; and his father.
Robert Hurst
BURWELL -- Robert Earl Hurst, 90, of Burwell died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in Littleton, Colo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. The Rev. Michael Laing will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Jessie Michel
SHELTON -- Jessie E. Michel, 86, of Shelton died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at St. Francis Skilled Care Unit in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. The Rev. Rose Bartleson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Good Samaritan Center or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Michel was born on June 18, 1913, at Shelton to Lloyd and Lavina (Nelson) Camp. She grew up in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School in 1931.
She married
Jake Michel, and the couple lived in Wood River for a few years. They then moved to Doniphan and farmed. The couple moved to Shelton and retired there in 1979. Mr. Michel died in 1986.
Mrs. Michel was a member of Ellan Rebekah Lodge 306 and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Eihusen of Grand Island and June Monks of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Bernice Helser of Shelton.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard; one sister; and three brothers.
Frank Rubahah
CENTRAL CITY -- Frank Rubahah, 78, of Central City died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in Central City.
Services are pending with Solt Funeral Home.
