ORD -- Lloyd E. Needham, 88, of Ord died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999 at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Funeral services are pending with the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Thomas Henaege
PACIFICA, CALIF. -- Thomas Heneage, 79, of Pacifica, Calif. died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999.
Services are pending with the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Michael Loescher
Michael L. Loescher, 55, of Grand Island died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
There will be no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Loescher was born on Sept. 19, 1944, in Grand Island to Oscar and Willma (Hatfield) Loescher. He grew up and attended schools in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High.
He entered the U.S. Navy in 1962 and was later discharged.
He married
Elizabeth Katherine Mae West on Nov. 7, 1973, in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island. He returned to college in 1990 and received degrees in business, accounting and computer science. He worked for Nebraska Legal Services and owned and operated Tax Vantage and Diamond Horse Gems.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, working on his computer and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine of Grand Island; one son, Christopher Loescher of Grand Island; four daughters, Kimberly Parnell of Lakeworth, Fla., Lorrie McGill of Bellevue, Michele Keller of Columbus and Cassandra Holmberg of Grand Island; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mary Lyons
Mary S. Lyons, 69, of Grand Island died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Irene Culbert
CENTRAL CITY -- Irene E. Culbert, 80, of Central City died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Central City with the Rev. Charles Pollard officiating. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mrs. Culbert was born on June 27, 1919, in Chapman to Rufas and Eda (Hedlund) Ewing. As a young girl, she lived in Chapman, Central City, and Waukon and Manly, Iowa. She received her education in the Manly, Iowa, schools. She lived with her family in Big Sandy, Minn., where they operated a resort.
She married
Rex Moore in Fairbo, Minn., on April 19, 1939. They lived in Iowa until 1950, and they then moved to Central City.
She married
Clifford W. Culbert on Jan. 13, 1963, in Central City. They lived in Central City. She was a homemaker. In addition to raising her own family, she opened her home to many other children to raise. Mr. Culbert died on Oct. 15, 1995.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Iowa and attended Grace Lutheran Church in Central City. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, birds, fishing, canning and raising animals, especially cats.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Wigner and Rexene (Mrs. Tex) Sigman, both of Central City; three sons, Lee Culbert of Grand Island, Jay Culbert of Central City and Guy Culbert of Temecula, Calif.; one stepson, David Lute of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Mabel Anderson; and one brother, Roy Ewing.
Mary Hookstra
SPALDING -- Mary H. Hookstra, 81, of Spalding died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in Spalding.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spalding Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Dolce Scheef Mortuary with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.
Mrs. Hookstra was born on Sept. 4, 1918, in Spalding to Clarence and Sarah (Yager) Langley. She grew up in Spalding and graduated from Spalding High School in 1935. She attended Dana College in Blair and St. Louis Institute of Music in St. Louis, Mo.
She married
Don Hookstra on Sept. 7, 1947, at Spalding Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Spalding Presbyterian Church. She was pianist and organist since 1931, taught Sunday school and Bible school, was an elder and served as delegate to general assembly. She served many roles with United Presbyterian Woman and as church treasurer and clerk of session.
She was a 4-H Club leader and needlework superintendent at the Greeley County Fair. She was a member of the Spalding community band, American Legion Auxiliary, Rose Chapter of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbor of America, Parent Teacher Association and Spalding High School Alumni.
She helped compile and write "Early Days of Spalding" for the country's bicentennial in 1976. She was a historian, and her column, "Scrapbook Memories," was published in the Spalding Enterprise since 1976.
Her hobbies included playing the organ, crocheting, knitting and watching and listening to sports, especially Nebraska football.
Survivors include two daughters, Donetta of Omaha and Inga of Lincoln; one son, Benje of Spalding; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother and an infant sister.

Mr. Needham was born on Aug. 6, 1911, in Valley County to Gilbert and Dessie (Noll) Needham. He was raised in Valley County and attended Ord High School.
He married
Golda Hoisington on March 14, 1933, in Valley County. They moved to a farm, farmed for 15 years and lived on several farms. He sold the farm in 1948 and bought a home in Ord. He worked for a farm implement company.
A few years later, he and his wife bought a clothing store. Later, they sold the clothing store and started a fabric shop, which they owned and operated until retirement.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Gideons International.
Survivors include his wife, Golda of Ord; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one son, Vernon Needham.
