Arnold Oliver
AXTELL -- Arnold Royce Oliver, 61, of Axtell, formerly of Shelton, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Bethphage Home in Axtell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethphage Mission Church in Axtell. The Rev. John Gosswein will officiate. Burial will be in Shelton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Oliver was born Dec. 23, 1937, to Chester A. and Etta L. (Brown) Oliver at Shelton. He grew up in Shelton and attended Shelton schools.
Because of health reasons, he spent many years in nursing facilities. He had lived at Bethphage Home for the past 18 years.
He enjoyed people in general, especially those who helped care for him.
Survivors include one sister, Elsie Fishel of Shelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Edward Neeman
Edward H. Neeman, 73, of Grand Island, died Monday, Dec. 6, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Private burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery at a later date. Mr. Neeman was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.

Mr. Neeman was born Sept. 14, 1926, at Rose to Theodore F.A. and Velma D. (Long) Neeman. He grew up and was educated in Rose. He came to Grand Island to work at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant and later worked for several years at the sugar beet factory.
He married
Grace Reinecke Smalley on April 2, 1955 in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island where he was a supervisor at New Holland for many years before retiring in the early 1980's.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagles Club and the Platt-Duetsche. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patsy (Mrs. Don) Bloedorn and Vicky (Mrs. Verlyn) Furshurt, both of West Point and Dorothy (Mrs. Bill) Larson of Aurora; two sons, Roger H. Neeman of Esterville, Iowa and Larry Smalley of Huntsville, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Velma "Dot" Underwood of Gothenburg, Lucille Forey of Kearney, Betty Clark of Kansas and Dollie Coffee of Thermopolis, Wyo.; one brother, Albert of Portland, Ore.; and an uncle, Joe Neeman, who was a primary care giver during his illness.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Bruce and Alta Snyder; two brothers, Luther and Myron Neeman; and one grandchild, Russell.
Jack Gideon
BURWELL -- Jack Leroy Gideon, 66, of Burwell, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ord. The Rev. Keith Menter will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Blanche Hodson
TAYLOR -- Flora Blanche Hodson, 94, of Taylor died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Burwell Baptist Church. The Rev. David Koenigsberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylor City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the family or Hodson/Bowley Scholarship Fund.
Mrs. Hodson was born on Oct. 15, 1905, in Custer County to James D. and Grace Beatrice (Raish) Bowley. She lived three miles south of Victoria Springs. They moved to Broken Bow in 1913 and then to Sargent. The family moved south of Taylor in 1917, and she graduated from school there in 1924.
She married
Ralph Hodson on Jan. 27, 1925, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived and farmed seven miles south of Ericson for nine years and then bought the Bowley farm south of Taylor.
She was a homemaker. She worked as an aide at the Sargent Nursing Home for several years and later at Sargent District Hospital.
As she needed more care, some family members lived with her in her home. She continued to be active in everyday activities until her stroke last July.
She was a member of the Sargent Free Methodist Church and its Women's Missionary Society. She served in several capacities in the church and Sunday school. She also was a member of Kent Korner Club and Calvary United Methodist Church in Taylor, where she led a women's Bible study group.
She served on the Taylor school board, as a 4-H and Cub Scouts leader and took part in School Band Boosters.
Survivors include six sons, Robert of Lebanon, Ore., Thomas and George, both of McPherson, Kan., Donald of Auburn, Wash., Gerald of Asotin, Wash., and Richard of Sargent; six daughters, Marjory (Mrs. Robert) Greene of Ellensburg, Wash., Frances (Mrs. Wallace) Tippery of Centralia, Wash., Lois (Mrs. Paul) Steward of Upland, Ind., Doris (Mrs. Billy) Alexander of Sargent, Carolyn (Mrs. Eugene) Cone of Burwell and Sally (Mrs. Philip) Hart of Taylor; 37 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, one step-grandchild and four brothers.
Grace Yates
DONIPHAN -- Grace Ann Yates, 90, of Doniphan, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at the Lakeview Health and Rehab Center of Grand Island.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Doniphan United Methodist Church. The Revs. Gil Karges and Kenneth McClain will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date at Cedar View cemetery in Doniphan.
There will be no visitation. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Doniphan United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Yates was born Oct. 13, 1909, to Anton and Frances (Bozek) Hayek at Linwood. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1931.
She married
Ivan Yates on June 8, 1933, at David City. They lived in Hastings and Ragan before moving to Doniphan in 1941. She taught home economics and science in Doniphan schools for many years. She and her husband also ran the Doniphan Locker and Grocery.
She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Yates received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award in 1992.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Bob of Gering; a daughter-in-law, Joy Yates of Omaha; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Collins of Boise, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bill and six sisters.
