Theresa Johnson
Theresa E. Johnson, 88, of Grand Island died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 27, 1911, to Bernard and Agnes (Stish) Krajewski at Schaupe Siding in Sherman County.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Georgia (Mrs. Ronald) Beck of Grand Island and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Tony, Joe and Leo Krajewski and four sisters, Mary, Anna, Helen and Frances.
'Gerry' Meyer
Geraldine "Gerry" Meyer, 72, of 1710 S. Curtis, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cairo United Methodist Church in Cairo. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Cairo United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Meyer was born at Abbott on Sept. 1, 1927, to Richard and Linda (Wrage) Spiehs. She attended District 67 School near Cairo and graduated from Cairo High School in 1944.
After graduation she worked at the State Bank of Cairo until her marriage to Alvin Meyer on June 2, 1949. They farmed southwest of Cairo until moving to Grand Island in 1973. She worked as a teller at Five Points Bank in Grand Island, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, Happy Homemakers Club and the Platt-Duetsche Ladies Society. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling and flowers.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Gayle (Mrs. Larry) Donelson of Stromsburg and Jayne (Mrs. Dennis) Reimers of Cairo; four grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Roberts of Cairo.
Edwin Petersen
Edwin M. Petersen, 77, of 915 Bauman Drive Apt. 25 died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Revs. Frank Hoelck and Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Petersen was born Nov. 16, 1922, at St. Libory to Martin K. and Sena Mary (Gerdes) Petersen. He attended school through the eighth grade in St. Libory. He graduated from high school in Grand Island in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from February of 1943 until his discharge in December 1945.
He married
Marcella Buhrman on May 7, 1946 in St. Libory. The couple lived in Grand Island, where Mr. Petersen worked for the Sothman Lumber Company and Safeway Store. They moved to McCook and North Platte, returning to Grand Island in 1973. He began working for Lacy Construction and worked there until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Petersen was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 378, American Legion and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim and Marty, both of North Platte and Larry Petersen of Lincoln; three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Tom) McCraw of North Platte, Mary Kate (Mrs. Steve) Usrey of Grand Island and Padi (Mrs. John) Miller of Grey Bull, Wyo.; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Jane Jennett of Omaha and Marion McMaster of Torrence, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Edmund.
Dolores Scherzberg
Dolores Scherzberg, 77, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Margaret Dunn
AURORA -- Margaret Dunn, 94, of Aurora, formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Service are pending with Solt Funeral Home.
Walter Kramer
ALBION -- Walter Harold Kramer, 81, of Albion died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion with the Rev. Vernon Knight officiating. Burial will be in Hope cemetery in Newman Grove, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 162 of Albion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Kramer was born on Nov. 16, 1918, on a farm near Leigh to Rudolf and Clara (Korte) Kramer. He was educated at Zion Lutheran School in Leigh.
He married
Joyce Lorraine Bruhn on Oct. 9, 1938. They lived in Newman Grove, where Mr. Kramer owned and operated an auto mechanic shop. They then moved to Albion, where Mr. Kramer worked at Graham Motors for 14 years. He then worked at Sullivan Motors until his retirement in 1983.
Mr. Kramer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albion, American Legion Post 162 of Albion and General Motors Only the Best Club in Omaha, where he served as president for three years. In November, Mr. Kramer was awarded the Honorary Veterans High School Diploma.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Doug Kramer of Lincoln, Don Kramer of San Antonio, Robert Kramer of Platte Center and Scott Kramer of Monroe; five daughters, Barb Kramer of Newman Grove, Betty (Mrs. Jim) Teter of Kearney, Katie Hoxie of Albion, Deb (Mrs. Ed) Slizoski of Columbus and Shelly (Mrs. Randy) Huisman of Leigh; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer "Hap" Kramer of Brandon, Ore.; and two sisters, Lorenda (Mrs. Harry) Schultz and Leona (Mrs. Leroy) Schultz, all of White Salmon, Wash.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Roy Maxson
NORTH LOUP -- Roy Maxson, 78, of North Loup died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, as a result of an auto accident two miles south of St. Paul.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the North Loup United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melanie Adams officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be prior to services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Maxson was born on Nov. 28, 1921, on a farm in Valley County near North Loup to Nathan and Daisy (Biggs) Maxson. He attended rural schools and graduated from North Loup High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from January 1942 until September 1945. He returned from the service and graduated from Milford Trade School to become an electrician.
He married
Anna Clark Weaver on Oct. 13, 1956. The couple first lived in Cotesfield and later moved to North Loup, where Mr. Maxson operated a well business. Mrs. Maxson died on March 9, 1992.
Mr. Maxson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed reminiscing and showing pictures of his time in the military.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Bertha Johnson of Beloit, Kan., and Donna Saunter of McCook; a stepson, Wayne Weaver of Las Vegas; numerous step-grandchildren; numerous step great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Roberta Molzer of Crete.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Lawrence Weaver; two brothers, Herman and Lester; and a twin sister, Rena Hoffman.
