Beverly Holmberg
MIDLAND, TEXAS - Beverly Holmberg, 71, of Midland, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Services are pending with Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City.
John Bowers
John H. Bowers, 86, of Grand Island died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the Grand Island Humane Society.
Mr. Bowers was born Oct. 18, 1914, in Merrick County to Lawrence and Mary (Steinbeck) Bowers. He moved with his family to Grand Island when he was 8 years old. He was educated in Grand Island.
He later worked for the Fairmont Creamery. He joined the U.S. Navy, and served during World War II in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945. After his discharge, he returned to Grand Island and became the chief engineer at the Fairmont Creamery.
He married
Marian Pedersen on Feb. 16, 1957, in Grand Island.
He owned and operated Bowers Commercial Refrigeration Sales and Service. He retired in 1994.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the VFW, the Saddle Club and the Experimental Pilots Organization.
He enjoyed building and flying experimental airplanes, dogs and having coffee with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marian of Grand Island; three sons, Richard of Chicago, Ill., George of Nebraska City and John Lee of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Joan (Mrs. Keith) Howell of Commerce City, Colo.; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one grandson; four brothers, Roy, Elmer, Lawrence and Sam; and a sister, Clara.
Leslie Bruckner
Leslie Bruckner, 60, of Grand Island died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at noon Tuesday at Memorial Park cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Boyd E. Braman Mortuary in Omaha.
Survivors include three sons, David Bruckner, Ronald Bruckner and Travis Bruckner; a daughter, Tanya Bruckner; three brothers, Larry Bruckner, Donald Bruckner and Robert Bruckner; a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Roy) Steffen; and special friend, Beverly Cross.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald Findley
Donald D. Findley, 75, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare at Lakeview.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Curran Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Breese officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
He was born Feb. 4, 1925, at Scotia, the son of Harold and Millie (Vance) Findley. He grew up and received his education at Scotia.
He married
Joan Dunn in February of 1949. He married
Ahlene Wiese on July 15, 1961, at Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island and he was employed by Bosselman's for five years, and also worked at Third City Livestock for 30 years, retiring in 1998.
He enjoyed auctions, being with his grandchildren and having coffee with his coffee group.
Survivors include his wife, Ahlene of Grand Island; six sons, Danny of Lincoln, Douglas, Darren, David, and Ron, all of Grand Island, and Randy of Giltner; two daughters, Nancy Cadwalader of Grand Island and Janna (Mrs. Kasey) Wessels of Aurora;13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by an infant granddaughter, Keri Findley.
Daniel Pedro-Felix
Daniel Pedro-Felix, the infant son of Carlos and Lidia Pedro-Felix, was stillborn on Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Guadalupe Dominguez will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his parents; three sisters, Veronica, Lisa and Evett, all of Grand Island; maternal grandparents, Santiago and Catalina Pedro of California; and paternal grandparents, Juan Felix and Maria Francisco of Guatemala.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Juan Carlos.
Emma Blaha
ORD -- Emma Blaha, 94, of Ord died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home.
Services are pending with the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Theron Nolte
LOUP CITY -- Theron Nolte, 93, formerly of Ord, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ord United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Burial rites will be conducted by the I.O.O.F Lodge of Ord.
Visitation will be prior to service time Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Ord United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nolte was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Lindsay to Ole and Alvena (Peterson) Nelson. After the death of his mother, he and his sister were adopted by Henry and Frances Nolte of Burwell. He grew up in the Burwell area and attended rural Garfield County schools.
He married
Laura Jane Bragg on Aug. 29, 1928. They lived in Burwell until 1931 when they moved to a farm west of Ord. In 1937 they moved into Ord.
He worked for the irrigation district as a dragline operator and at John Deere Implement as a mechanic. His wife passed away Nov. 24, 1963. He was later married
to Maxine Bragg on Sept. 25, 1972.
Following his retirement with the irrigation district, he worked as a janitor at the Ord High School and the Ord Veterans Club. He continued to return to the irrigation district on a part-time basis well into his 80s. He moved to the Corner Cottage in 1994 and then to Rose Lane Home in 1997.
He was a member of the Ord I.O.O.F Lodge at Ord for over 55 years and the Ord United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed all kinds of animals including horses, llamas, birds and dogs. He attended many area parades with his llamas.
Survivors include a son, Stanley of Ord; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Witherwax.
