Hazel Katt
ARLINGTON -- Hazel L. Katt, 81, died Monday, March 6, 2000 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum with the Rev. Robert Rademacher officiating. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home and until one hour before the funeral service at the church on Thursday.
Mrs. Katt was born March 24, 1918 in rural Arlington to Edward and Laura (Nielsen) Newkirk. She lived on a farm near Arlington and attended the Bisbee District 42 School.
On March 24, 1940 she married
Alvin W. Katt in Hooper.
She moved into Arlington in 1975, and worked in the kitchen at the Arlington Public School.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Orum, the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Just For Fun Club in Arlington.
Survivors include one son, Duane of Aurora; one daughter, Debra of Arlington; two sisters, Opia Lee Hart and Helen Anderson, both of Blair; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, George, Guy and Clarence Newkirk and three sisters, Mabel Foster, Ethel Skov and Pearl Burchardt.
'Tek' Lewandowski
LOUP CITY -- Teckla D. "Tek" Lewandowski, 92, of Loup City died Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City with the Rev. Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. A sodality rosary will be at 4 p.m., and a vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Kristine Schneider
RAVENNA -- Kristine (Psota) Schneider, 37, of Ravenna died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Grand Island from injuries suffered in a traffic accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.
Mrs. Schneider was born on June 25, 1962, in Kearney to Milan and Barb (Vavra) Psota. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1980.
She married
Matthew Schneider on April 25, 1986. They lived in Dallas, Phoenix and Denver. She returned to Ravenna in June 1999. She worked at IBP in Gibbon.
Survivors include one son, Steven of Denver; one daughter, Kellie of Denver; her parents, of Ravenna; three brothers, Kirk Psota of Lexington, Kent Psota of Kearney and Kevin Psota of Ravenna; two sisters, Karla Stueben of Boelus and Karen Gascoigne of Arnold; and her grandmother, Mary Vavra of Kearney.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers and one grandmother.
Martin Yrkoski
SILVER CREEK -- Martin Yrkoski, 81, of Silver Creek died Friday, March 3, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clarks. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery at Krakow.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Further visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Yrkoski was born on Nov. 17, 1918, in Nance County to George and Veronica (Liss) Yrkoski. He was educated in rural Nance County schools and Sts. Peter and Paul Parochial School at Krakow.
He worked in the Omaha packing houses for a time before returning to Nance County, where he had farmed since. He enjoyed playing baseball as a youth and was an avid fan in later years.
He was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Clarks.
Survivors include three brothers, Louis of Clarks, Steve of Fullerton and Phil of Silver Creek; and four sisters, Mary Kula and Frances Yrkoski, both of Silver Creek, Rose Prososki of Duncan and June Stachura of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Yrkoski.
Jack Carpenter
GIBBON -- John "Jack" D. Carpenter, 62, of Gibbon died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Memorial services will be at a later date in Arkansas.
Godberson Mortuaries of Gibbon and Shelton are in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Carpenter was born on Feb. 17, 1937, in Omaha to Del and Ella (Farris) Carpenter. He attended school in Gibbon.
He joined the Marine Corps in 1954. He then graduated from Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif. He owned and operated a landscape business for several years, then worked for Coors Brewery in sales in Southern California.
He married
Janice Mitchell on March 26, 1955, in Los Angeles.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Kearney and played first base in the Baseball Club of Southern California.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Robin Carpenter of Barstow, Calif., and Renetta McDougall of St. John, Kan.; a son, Glenn McDougall of St. John, Kan.; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Diane Leeds and Mary Carpenter, both of Moorpark, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Bender.
Al Dunbar
ORD -- Allen B. Dunbar, 80, of Ord died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ord United Methodist Church. The Rev. James B. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Moulton cemetery in Loup County.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
