Gene Erickson
ARCADIA -- Gene Erickson, 78, of Arcadia died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Callaway.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials have been established to the Balsora cemetery Fund in care of Calvary Baptist Church and to KJLT Christian radio station in North Platte.
Mr. Erickson was born on Nov. 25, 1920, in Sherman County near Arcadia to Erick and Anna (Nordstrom) Erickson. He attended Balsora Grade School and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1938. He farmed and ranched on the family farm in the Balsora community. He also was a mail carrier and later a substitute mail carrier for the Star Route for 35 years. He retired from farming in 1990.
Mr. Erickson was baptized in the Middle Loup River. He enjoyed local sports teams and followed them closely. He also enjoyed writing stories and history. He liked attending stock car races, was in the process of seeing every courthouse in Nebraska and went to numerous town and county festivals through the summers.
Survivors include one sister, Ruth (Mrs. Niles) Frost of Ansley.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Kermit and Raymond.
'Buck' Razey
PLEASANTON -- Lawrence "Buck" Razey, 84, of Pleasanton died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Dean Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Pleasanton Emergency Unit.
Mr. Razey was born on March 29, 1915, in Buffalo County to Harrison and Gertrude (Hughes) Razey. He was educated in Pleasanton.
He married
Alberta Buske on Oct. 14, 1935, in Phillipsburg, Kan. The couple lived in Pleasanton. He owned and operated an auto and tractor repair shop. His shop was also a gathering place for early-morning coffee and card games. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Maxine Axmann of Pleasanton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.
Eleanor Lewis
TAYLOR -- Eleanor Elizabeth Lewis, 87, of Taylor died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Taylor. The Rev. Dan Varns will officiate. Burial will be in the Kent Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Research.
Mrs. Lewis was born on April 10, 1912, on her grandfather's homestead in northwest Loup County to Harvey and Hannah (Parkin) Mansfield. She grew up six miles north of Taylor and attended Lone Star School and Loup County High School. She taught at the Phillips School for three years.
She married
John Albert Lewis on April 30, 1933, at Springview. She enjoyed working with her husband in the ranching business for 24 years before retiring and moving to Taylor. She also worked as an electrician, carpenter and wallpaperer. During her retirement, she served as superintendent of the adult exhibits for the Loup County Fair and on the canvassing board. She also assisted at the library and historical society.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, quilting, cake decorating and flowers.
Mrs. Lewis was a charter and founding member of the Taylor Assembly of God Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent, teacher and secretary/treasurer for many years. She served as president of the Visually Impaired Persons Organization in Sargent.
Survivors include one son, Richard Lewis of Taylor; four daughters, Betty (Mrs. Elmer) Keller and Cleo (Mrs. Jerry) Keith, both of Taylor, Shirley (Mrs. Bob) Birch of Taft, Calif., and Claris Lewis of Kearney; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, George Mansfield of Redmond, Ore.; and one sister, Gladys Cannon of Eugene, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandchildren; one brother, Robert; and two sisters, Rachel Kau and Gretchen Lubcke.
Rosemary Hamik
Rosemary A. Hamik, 87, of Grand Island died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. parish rosary, Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Catholic Development Foundation.
Mrs. Hamik was born on March 9, 1913, at Julesburg, Colo., to Ray and Ola (Coolidge) Kombrink. She grew up and attended school in Central City, graduating from Central City High School in 1931. She then attended Nebraska Central Baptist College for two years. She moved to Omaha and worked for Orchard-Wilhelm Furniture and then for McKesson-Robbins Drug Co.
She married
Albert H. Hamik on Oct. 5, 1940, at Omaha. They moved to Grand Island in 1948. Mr. Hamik died in April 1979. Mrs. Hamik moved to McCook in the early 1980s. She returned to Grand Island to live at the Grand Island Veterans Home in November 1999.
She enjoyed antiques, playing bridge and shopping.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Altar Society and Resurrection Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Survivors include one son, Michael Hamik of Grand Island; four daughters, Mary Powers of Omaha, Patricia Janssen of McCook, Ann Lamb of Omaha and Joan Barrett of Boulder, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rudolph Kombrink.
Mildred Johnson
Mildred C. Johnson, 86, of Grand Island died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Michael Totzke
Michael P. Totzke, 30, of 2323 Bellwood Dr. No. 183 died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Terry Brown will officiate. Mr. Totzke was cremated, and private burial of his cremains will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Monday with the family receiving friends from 1 p.m. to service time.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his wife, Kim; one stepson, Jamie McLaughlin at home; two daughters, Chloe and Caitlyn, both at home; and his father, Charles Totzke of Alda.
