Leo Engle
Leo E. Engle, 73, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at the Tiffany Square Care Center of Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Revs. Douglas Stensby and Gretchen Diers will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Messiah Lutheran Church.
Mr. Engle was born April 7, 1926, to George and Augusta (Ottemoller) Engle at Grand Island. He grew up in Grand Island. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1944.
He entered the U.S. Navy on June 1, 1944, serving during World War II. After being discharged on May 27, 1946, he returned to Grand Island where he was employed by Northwestern Public Service.
He married
Millie Paulsen on June 6, 1948, in Nysted. The couple lived all their married
life in Grand Island.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the Platt Duetsche Society, the Saddle Club and the Disabled American Veterans.
He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, bowling and golfing.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dennis of Poolsville, Md.; two daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Van) Coker of Lincoln and Susan (Mrs. Randy) Presler of Omaha; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.
Raymond Dubas
FULLERTON -- Raymond A. Dubas, 64, of Fullerton, died Monday, Nov. 15, at the Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Nelson Newman will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mr. Dubas was born Dec. 4, 1934, to Joseph and Monica (Czapla) Dubas in Fullerton. He grew up in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1953.
Mr. Dubas served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1957 to 1959.
On Dec. 2, 1961, he married
Donna Rolf in Fullerton. They lived in Fullerton.
Mr. Dubas worked at Shorty's Gas Station until 1964 when he worked as a janitor at the Fullerton Public School until he retired in 1997.
He was currently working for the State of Nebraska Road Department.
He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 151 past Commander which he served two years, past member of the Fullerton Rescue Squad and a 25-year Fullerton Fireman.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling and carpentry work.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Jeff of Columbus; two daughters, Kelly (Mrs. Dave) Konwinski and Kim (Mrs. Randy) Cox of Fullerton; four grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Dubas, Valeria (Mrs. Norbert) Wozny, MarcyAnna (Mrs. Ed) Voichahoske and Anna Dubas, all of Fullerton; and one brother, Virgil "Sam" Dubas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joe, infant twins, Alois and Donimek and another infant brother.
Inez Hansen
ALBION -- Inez Agusta Hansen, 95, of Albion died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Albion. The Rev. Mary Avidano will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Hansen was born on March 6, 1904, in Sarpy County near Gretna to Charles and Stella A. (Nelson) Fosberg. She was raised near Louisville.
She taught school for six years in Cass County.
She married
Thorwald V. Hansen on June 3, 1928, at her home in Cass County. They lived and farmed near Elba until 1937, when they moved near Weeping Water. They moved to Boone County in 1950 and retired and moved to Albion in 1965. Mr. Hansen died in 1970. Mrs. Hansen moved to a retirement center in Lincoln in 1994 and moved to Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion in June 1999.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Methodist and First Congregational churches. She served as matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which she had been a member since 1943. She served as a 4-H leader and received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Citizens Award.
Survivors included one daughter, Lucille Hansen of Albion; two sons, Gerald Hansen and Herbert Hansen, both of Sun City, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie, Robert and Cecil Fosberg.
Fern May
WOOD RIVER -- Fern Burmood Kunz May, 98, of Wood River died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at the Wood River Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. The Revs. John McKinley and Denton Jantzi will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Presbyterian Church or the donor's choice.
Aileen Timmerman
BURWELL -- Aileen Marie Timmerman, 81, of Burwell died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Burwell Baptist Church. The Rev. David Koenigsberg will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Memorial Health Center, the church or the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
She enjoyed baking pies and baby-sitting.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Danny) Redman and Betty (Mrs. Jimmy) Hansen, both of Burwell; one son, Mark of Broken Bow; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Larsen and Eldon Larsen, both of Burwell; and a half sister, Alice Babka of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; and two brothers, Clarence Larsen and an infant brother.
