Patricia Kirschbaum
Patricia Ann Kirschbaum, 41, of Grand Island, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, in Omaha.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the Merino Faith Tabernacle Church in Merino, Colo. The Rev. Mike Kirschbaum and Norman Kirschbaum will officiate. Burial will be in the Merino Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the Chaney-Beager Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kirschbaum was born Sept. 22, 1959, in Grand Island to Lyonel and Loretta (Pullins) Kirschbaum. She started school in Grand Island before the family moved to Merino in 1966. She graduated from Marino High School in 1977.
She attended Northeastern Junior College after graduation and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She worked at the Sterling Regional MedCenter and later went to the University of Northern Colorado, graduating in 1988 with a Registered Nurse degree. She moved back to Grand Island in 1997.
She was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed activities with her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the New Hope Revival church in Grand Island.
Survivors include her mother, Loretta Junk of Sterling, Colo.; one brother, Charles of Merino, Colo.; one sister, Jo Kirschbaum of Grand Island; and several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Helen Anderson
STROMSBURG -- Helen J. Anderson, 82, of Stromsburg died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg. The Rev. Jeff Tharman will officiate. Burial will be at the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Anderson was born Oct. 28, 1917, to Baltasar and Theresa (Thuringer) Kirchmeier at Hardington. She attended schools in South Dakota and in Hardington.
She married
Vernon Cole in 1937. The family moved to Oregon, Washington and Idaho. She returned to Nebraska and worked at a cafe in Osceola.
She married
Carl Anderson on July 27, 1967. They lived in Shelby where she did housecleaning and worked at Ray's Tavern. Mr. Anderson was a truck driver and she enjoyed traveling with him. She retired in 1980 and enjoyed fishing, eating out, going to the Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo on Friday, flowers, gardening and her family. Mr. Anderson died July 6, 1999. On May 22, she entered the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg where she lived until her death.
Survivors include four sons, Bob Cole of Denver, Ray Cole of Minneapolis, Minn., Gary Cole of Nashville, Tenn., and Roger Anderson of Columbus; three brothers, Herman Kirchmeier of Seappoose, Ore., Don Kirchmeier of Kansas City, Kan., and Norbert Kirchmeier of Wynot; one sister, Louise Baker of Harrod, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bernie, Martin, Clarence and Leo Kirchmeier and two sisters, Mary Ayers and Babe Hahr.
Merna Davis
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Merna M. Davis, 91, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Lincoln, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Tucson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday from at the Cameron cemetery near Grand Island. The Rev. Delvin Roper will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Revs. Delvin Roper and Jim Keyser will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity United Methodist Church or Wesleyan University at Lincoln.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter EH, Grand Island Woman's Club, Wahoo Eastern Star and United Methodist Women. She served in both district and conference offices in the United Methodist Women. She was active in alumni activities at Nebraska Wesleyan, including serving as secretary of the Alumni Association, a member of the Womens' Educational Council and a class representative for the alumni association. In 1988, she and her husband received the Medal of Honor for service to Nebraska Wesleyan University in recognition of their years of service to the church, the university and the community.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Ben) Roe of Denver, Jeanne (Mrs. Tom) George of Tucson, Ariz., three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a brother, C.M. McGlasson of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Laurence R. Davis.
Leonard Koziol
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Leonard Koziol, 49, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Set. 29, 2000, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital at Council Bluffs.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military rites by Dan Cox American Legion Post No. 44 of Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids with a 7 p.m. rosary at the church. Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Edna Sundstrom
COUNCIL BLUFFS -- Edna S. Sundstrom, 82, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at the Bethany Luther Home in Council Bluffs.
There will be no services and the body will be cremated. A private burial will be in Grand Island at a later date.
Mrs. Sundstrom was born May 10, 1918, in Holdrege to Felix and Norma (Deason) Hamilton. She attended school in Holdredge.
She married
Vernon E. Sundstrom and was a housewife and homemaker in Grand Island until the couple moved to North Platte in 1957. They moved back to Grand Island in 1982 and to Council Bluffs shortly after.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Sundstrom of Stockton, Calif. and Alan Sundstrom of North Platte; four daughters, Patty (Mrs. Leonard) Proskocil of Ord, Kay (Mrs. Ted) Campbell of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Gail Parrot of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Peggy Saline of Leavenworth, Kans.; one brother, William Hamilton of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Blythe Arnold of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; and three sisters.
Michael Bennett
HEREFORD, Texas - Michael Bennett, 49, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at Hereford, Texas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Apfel Funeral home in Cairo. The Rev. Alan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Cairo.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Bennett was born March 27, 1950, at Gothenburg to Virgil and Maxine (Stewart) Bennett. He grew up in Gothenburg and Brady before moving to Ord. He graduated from Ord high School. He entered the United States Air Force in August of 1969 and was honorably discharged in October 1970.
He married
Donna Stethem on Feb. 7, 1970, at Plattsmouth. The couple lived in Ord and moved to Cairo in 1987. He was employed by Titan Trucks of Levelland, Texas at the time of his death.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Grand Island; one son, Robert of Cairo; two daughters, Misti Pena of Las Vegas, Nev. and Kelly of Grand Island; his mother, Maxine Bennett; two sisters, Kay Kerchal of Loup City and Marilyn Krolikowski of Ord; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
