Merl Nietfeldt
DEVOL, Okla. -- Merl L. Nietfeldt, 58, of Devol, Okla., died July 9, 1999, in a Wichita Falls, Texas, hospital.
Memorial services were on Wednesday in Randlett, Okla., Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Whiteman officiated.
Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nietfeldt was born on April 1, 1941, in Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1960.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1980 after 20 years of service. He worked for Washex for 16 years. He had lived in Devol since 1979.
He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Ronda Royer of Wichita Falls and Tracey Hargitt and Debbie Neal, both of Cookeville, Tenn.; a son, Mark of Devol; his mother, Fern of Grand Island; a brother, Norman of Grand Island; and three sisters, Kay Lamborn of Hastings, Laura Guthals of Grand Island and Susan Ford of Bangs, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester; and an infant brother, Larry.
Peggy Creech
Peggy J. Creech, 50, of Grand Island died Monday, April 23, 2001, at her home.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Nancy Hupp
Nancy J. Hupp, 46, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Third City Christian Church with the Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating. Burial will be in the Wiegert cemetery northeast of Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Hupp was born Dec. 29, 1954, at Grand Island to Ralph and Jean (Barnholdt) Quandt. She grew up on a farm northeast of Grand Island and attended District 7 East School. She then attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Northwest High School in 1973. While in high school, she was active in music and drama.
She married
Greg Hupp on May 21, 1977, in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island until 1980. The couple then moved to Sawyer, N.D., where they owned and operated a beekeeping business, Hupp's Honey Farm. They returned to Grand Island in 1985.
Mrs. Hupp enjoyed bowling, horses, the country and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Shelby Hupp of Denver, Colo., and Courtney Hupp of Grand Island; one son, Joe Hupp of Grand Island; one grandson; her parents, Ralph and Jean Quandt of Grand Island; one brother, Jerry Quandt of Grand Island; two sisters, Laura Hobbs of Grand Island and Kris Marin of Glendale, Ariz.; her paternal grandmother, Evelyn Peterson of Grand Island; and her mother-in-law, Mary Forster of Grand Island, who cared for her during her illness.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Henry Barnholdt and Jerry and Helen Green; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Laura Quandt.
Joshua Perry
Joshua L. Perry, 23, of Grand Island died Monday, April 23, 2001 at his home.
Graveside services will at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Del Roper officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Perry was born Aug. 8, 1977, in Grand Island to Lloyd and Karen (Paro) Perry. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High and loved hunting, fishing, camping and working with animals.
He volunteered with the Community Response Team and helped each year with the Boo-At-The-Zoo at the Heritage Zoo. He also was involved in the Mountain Man Reenactment.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Karen and Gene Pharaoh of Grand Island; one sister, Wilma Avey of Texas; grandparents, George and Jeannine Paro of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Pharaoh of Springfield and Mrs. and Mrs. Rolland Cox of Elmwood; and his step-great-grandmother, Dolores Guyette of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Frances Collingham
AURORA -- Frances Collingham, 77, of Aurora, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. The Revs. Al Duminy and Jim Garfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary, with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m.
Mrs. Collingham was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Hubbell to Fred and Wilhelmina M. (Pepperkorn) Schafer. She grew up in Hubbell, and when she was little, her family moved to Gilead, where she attended school through 11th grade. The family then moved to Superior, where she graduated from high school. She then moved to York and worked in a café until her marriage.
She married
Orion S. Collingham on Jan. 25, 1943, in Beatrice. After he returned home from the service, they moved to Aurora, where they raised their five children. She worked over the years at Inez Café, J.C. Penney and for the Aurora School system, until she retired to spend the rest of the time at home.
Her hobbies included raising flowers, painting ceramics, sitting on her deck and listening to the birds. She also enjoyed music and dancing. She especially loved to cook and spend time with her family.
Survivors include her husband; five children, Connie (Mrs. Roger) Merchant of Polk, Tom Collingham of Aurora, Karen (Mrs. Dennis) Johnson of Polk, Keith Collingham of Aurora and Larry Collingham of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Titman of Aurora and Rose (Mrs. Bob) Anderson of Guernsey, Wyo.; and a brother, Rodney Schafer of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Zola Griffith
ORD -- Zola Griffith, 83, of Ord died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Valley County Nursing Home at Ord.
There will be no services. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Griffith was born June 8, 1917, on a farm northeast of Ord to Henry and Mary (Kucera) Stara. She attended Ord Elementary School for five years, a rural school for three years and graduated from Ord High School.
After graduation, she lived in Omaha for two years, before moving to Los Angeles, Calif., for five years. She was employed at Lockheed's in Los Angeles. After returning to Ord, she worked as a secretary/accountant until retirement.
She married
Lloyd V. Griffith on Sept. 27, 1941, in Yuma, Ariz.
She was a member of the Ord United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, Western Fraternal Life Association, also known as Z.C.B.J. a Czech organization, Ar-gu-not Extension Club, Suburbanite Extension Club and several card clubs.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Lynn of Ord; two grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.
