Marguerite Fairbrother
KEARNEY -- Marguerite Fairbrother, 72, of Kearney died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Capital City Christian Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Bill Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Boise Christian Retirement Home or the Khasi Hills Christian Ministry.

Mrs. Fairbrother was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Batang, China, to Norton and Lois (Nichols) Bare. She was home-schooled until high school. She graduated from Lincoln Northeast in 1946 and was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln Christian College of Lincoln, Ill.
On March 26, 1948, she married
the Rev. Archie Fairbrother in Oswatamie, Kan. They worked as missionaries, living in various places including India. The couple left India in 1968. After coming back to the United States she taught Bible poetry, speech, history and served as the dean of women at the Dakota Bible College in Huron, S.D.
From 1972 through 1976 she served with her husband at the Douglas Street Church of Christ in Lincoln.
From 1976 to 1981 they did mission work at the McKinley Indian Mission in Toppenish, Wash. In 1981 they moved to Hong Kong where they served as missionaries. From 1982 through 1984 her husband served as minister for the Waverly Christian Church in Waverly.
In 1984 they moved to Boise, Idaho, and she served as secretary for the Boise Christian Retirement Home. In 1993 she worked with the International Children and Family Outreach. The couple moved to Lincoln in 1995 to serve again with the Douglas Street Church of Christ. They moved to Kearney in 1999.
She was a member of the Countryside Christian Church in Kearney.
Survivors include her husband, Archie of Kearney; two sons, Charles of Santa Clara, Calif., and Ken of Kearney; four daughters, Jewel Martinez of Gibbon, Ellen Banta of Caldwell, Idaho, Jean Mortimer of Morrow, Ga., and Zana Durst of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Dr. Garland Bare of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; one sister; and one brother.
Franklin Dutcher
GREELEY -- Franklin C. Dutcher, 91, of Greeley died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at the Greeley Care Home in Greeley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Middendorf officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Greeley City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to the church, Greeley Rescue Unit or the family's choice.
T.J. Finn and Sons Funeral Home of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dutcher was born Oct. 6, 1908, in Horace to Fremont and Gertrude (Knudsen) Dutcher. He spent his early years cattle ranching and farming in northern Greeley County. He worked for WPA Building Systems for a short time.
On March 17, 1934, he married
Leitha Eschliman in Greeley. The couple ranched and farmed 13 miles north of Greeley for more than 35 years. In 1978 they moved to their present home in Greeley. He had been a resident of the Greeley Care Home for the past year.
He served on several school and civic boards.
Survivors include his wife, Leitha of Greeley; two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Allen) Bredthauer of Lincoln, and Janet (Mrs. DeWayne) Arnold of Cedar Rapids; one son, Nicholas of Scotia; one brother, Wilson of California; three sisters, Lorraine, Ruby and Edith; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ila (Mrs. Ellis Douthit, Jr.); two grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
Kenneth Shindo
Kenneth M. Shindo, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in Dallas.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Dorothy Nielsen
Dorothy Nielsen, 90, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the Lakeview Nursing/Rehab Center of Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Litchfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Nielsen was born Aug. 18, 1909, in York County to August and Edna (Lighthill) Senff. The family moved to Sherman County in 1918 where she grew up. She attended rural elementary school and Litchfield High School.
She married
Harold Nielsen on Feb. 6, 1929, in Litchfield where the couple lived on a farm north of town.
They moved to Gibbon in 1949 and in 1956 moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., where they lived until January of 1964. They then moved to Alda where they lived from 1969 to 1978. Mr. Nielsen died in 1971. She moved to Grand Island in 1979.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Alda Garden Club. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include a son, Harold of Grand Island; five daughters, Alberta Grayek of Gibbon, Elaine (Mrs. Harry) Ueckert of Chapman, Erma (Mrs. Bill) O'Donnell of Denver, Alice (Mrs. Ernest) Mars and Doris (Mrs. Vlassy) Patsios, both of Grand Island; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernest Senff of Olympia, Wash.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one granddaughter; one sister; and three brothers.
Wilma Vodehnal
Wilma A. Vodehnal, 81, of Grand Island, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Skilled Care in the St. Francis Memorial Health Center of Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. A Catholic Daughter's rosary will be held at 4 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice, St. Francis Medical Center, or to the family's choice.

Mrs. Vodehnal was born May 29, 1918, in Ravenna to Edwin and Anna (Whitcomb) Kluge. She grew up and attended school in Buffalo and Hall counties.
She married
Paul Vodehnal on Feb. 10, 1947, at Smith Center, Kan. The couple lived in the Grand Island area where she was employed by the Wolbach, Woolworth and Sears department stores as a saleslady. She retired from Sears in 1961 due to ill health.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Catholic Daughters, the Legion of Mary, Christian Mothers, and the VFW and Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of Grand Island; one son, Vernon of Grand Island; two grandchildren and one brother, Merlin Kluge of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and Vernon Kluge.
