Mary Dubas
FULLERTON -- Mary A. Dubas, 89, of Fullerton died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at Fullerton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. scripture service and rosary, all at Palmer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dubas was born Nov. 1, 1910, to Joseph and Anna (Niedbalski) Nosal in Nance County. At age 12, she moved with her family to Barnesville, Minn., where she completed her education.
She married
Walter Dubas on Nov. 21, 1928, at Fullerton. They farmed by North Star and south of Fullerton until 1945 when they moved into Fullerton where they ran their own custom harvest business and salvage business until retirement.
She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society.
Survivors include one son, Walter Jr. of Fullerton; three daughters, Victoria (Mrs. Clarence) Mostek of Omaha, Evelyn (Mrs. Dale) Patton of Aurora and Ella Bosley of Reader, W. Va.; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Sr.; two daughters, Loretta Mullaney and Marge Newquist; one son, Don; one grandson and one great-grandson; six brothers, Frank, Joe, John, Andy, Louie and Albin and four sisters, Frances Nosal, Helen Zohlen, Barbara Walbridge and Vicky Cich.
Marilyn Krolikowski
ORD -- Marilyn Faye Krolikowski, 55, of Ord died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ord. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Senior Classics or Leukemia Society or the donor's choice.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Krolikowski was born July 27, 1945, to Virgil and Maxine (Stewart) Bennett at Gothenburg. She was raised at Brady and attended grade school at Brady. The family moved to Ord in 1957 and she continued her education at Ord, graduating from Ord High School in 1963. She then worked at the Valley County Courthouse in Ord.
She married
George Krolikowski Aug. 19, 1967, at Loup City. While he worked on construction, the couple lived in various western Nebraska towns. They moved back to Ord in 1971 and have lived in Ord ever since. She had been working as the director of the Senior Classics Center at Ord.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the altar society. She enjoyed animals, her pets, deer hunting, fishing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; two sons, Tom of Valentine and Joe of Kearney; three daughters, Cindy of Kearney, Suzanne of Omaha and Joanie of Ord; and one sister, Kay (Mrs. Lynn) Kerchal of Loup City.
She was preceded in death by her father, and one brother, Michael Bennett.
Edna Linder
Edna Linder, 76, of Grand Island died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Fern Pontious
Fern M. Pontious, 84, of Grand Island died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at the Lakeview Nursing/Rehab Center of Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island with Envoys Jim and Dee Tooley officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Pontious was born July 26, 1916, to Floyd B. and Laura (Fritzes) Giersdorf in Belgrade where grew up and attended rural country school.
On Aug. 6, 1932 she married
George Pontious, Sr., in Marysville, Mo. They farmed in Boone County near Akron and later in Palmer.
In 1949 they moved to Grand Island where she worked for several years at the ordinance plant and for 18 years as a foster grandparent in the Grand Island School System.
She attended the Salvation Army Church and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking and volunteering in the elementary school system.
Survivors include her husband, George of Grand Island; two daughters, Norma (Donald) Marco of Grand Island, and Patty (Gary) Jensen of Harvard; one son, Donald Pontious of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and one sister, Betty (Edgar) McMullen of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by one son, George Jr., two daughters, Maxine and Georgia; one grandson; one great granddaughter; and one brother, Lester Giersdorf.
Adrienne Sjoholm
Adrienne E. Sjoholm, 84, of Grand Island died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Tiffany Square.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Jose Chavez officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National cemetery at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
A Catholic Daughters rosary will be at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sjoholm was born March 19, 1916, to Thomas and Gertrude (Wentworth) Mahoney in San Francisco, where she received her education. She attended USC at Santa Clara for two years.
She served as a civil servant for the military during World War II.
She married
Ivan Harold Sjoholm on Sept. 15, 1945, in San Diego. They moved to Scottsbluff where they lived until 1966 when they came to Grand Island.
She was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Catholic Daughters Altar Society and Quilters of St. Mary's. She also was a lifetime member of the PTA.
Survivors include one daughter, Carren Oshel of Seward; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marcy Ackert of Winter Park, Fl.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Barbara Gorgen
CENTRAL CITY -- Barbara A. Gorgen, 78, of Central City died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Joy Savage officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Gorgen was born Jan. 6, 1922, to Wendell J.M. "Bill" and Fern F. (Peck) Glotfelty in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Omaha. After completing her schooling in 1940, she lived in Spokane, Wash., where she worked as a secretary until 1948.
She married
Floyd M. Gorgen on Oct. 7, 1948, in Spokane. They returned to live on the family farm near Central City. In 1969 they moved to Central City.
She was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church in Central City and the Arbor Chapter 200 of the Order of Eastern Star in Central City.
She taught dance in the Central City area and wrote the Fairview News column for the Central City Republican Nonpareil for more than 30 years.
She enjoyed music and played the piano, harp and ukulele and wrote and composed music. She helped plan Central City's centennial celebration in 1958 and was the founder of the Lone Tree Literacy Society.
Survivors include her husband of Central City; two sons, Thomas J. of Omaha and Dick of Grand Island; and four grandchildren.
