Jewel Jones
Jewel C. Jones, 87, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mountain View Memorial Park at Tacoma, Wash. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Little Church on the Prairie at Lakewood, Wash.
Mountain View Funeral Home in Tacoma is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 27, 1913, in Birmingham, Ala., to Pickney and Golar (Macomb) Willbanks. Her family moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1917. She graduated from Arizona State University and the University of Arizona with bachelor's and master's degrees.
She taught high school Spanish, English and drama.
She married
Gordon A. Jones of Brawley, Calif. on May 7, 1939, in Phoenix, Ariz. After his retirement in 1962, they moved to Lakewood, Wash. He suffered a stroke in 1965 and she returned to teaching. She taught 5th and 6th grades at Lake City and other schools in the Lakewood, Tillicum and McChord areas.
She retired in 1979 and lived in the Lakewood area until 1999 when she moved to Grand Island.
She was an active member of Chi Omega, AAUW, ADK and other social and Panhellenic organizations.
Survivors include a son, Gordon Eric Jones, of Grand Island; three grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Underwood of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Conrad.
Lily Levitan
Lily Levitan, 87, of Grand Island died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grand Island City cemetery with the Rev. Joel Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Edith Abbott Memorial Library.

Mrs. Levitan was born on Sept. 14, 1913, at Grand Island to Otto and Wilhelmine J. (Moeller) Giesenhagen. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1931.
She married
Marty Levitan on Dec. 17, 1945, at Las Vegas, Nev. After their marriage, the couple lived in Los Angeles. She was employed by a talent agent, and the couple also operated a filling station.
She moved back to Grand Island in 1978, where the couple retired. Mr. Levitan died in March 1991.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, antiques and reading.
Survivors include one sister, Ella Zakem of LaVerne, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Lyle Medaris
Lyle R. Medaris, 81, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the Nebraska Veterans Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Ft. McPherson National cemetery in Maxwell.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Medaris was born Feb. 3, 1920, at Aurora to Avery and Florence (Reed) Medaris. He grew up and received his education in Aurora. He then worked as a general laborer.
He was inducted into the United States Army on Feb. 19, 1942, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 21, 1945. After completing his military service, he lived in Grand Island and did lawn service for 21 years.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley.
Anna Medbery
Anna B. Medbery, 88, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Park Place Nursing Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Harms officiating. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Scotia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Francis Perkins
Francis Perkins Jr., 66, of Grand Island, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Jack Rodgers
Jack Rodgers, 71, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Keyser officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, Easter Seal Society or the donor's choice.
Mr. Rodgers was born on Oct. 19, 1929, in Eddyville to Oakley and Eva (McMahon) Rodgers. He grew up in Eddyville and received his education, graduating from Eddyville High School in 1947.
He married
Naida J. Thomas on July 8, 1948, in Lexington. The couple lived in Eddyville and moved to Grand Island in 1950. He was employed at the Kelly Supply Co. as a salesman until illness forced retirement in 1965.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and past member of the Grand Island Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife; and one daughter, Connie (Mrs. Ricky) Olson of Grand Island.
