Jewel C. Jones, 87, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending with Mountain View Funeral Home of Tacoma, Wash.
'Jimmy' Lee
James P. "Jimmy" Lee, 52, of Grand Island died Tuesday, April 2, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Michael Helwig will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Lee was born Sept. 20, 1948, at Denver to Ira and Edra Lee. He moved to Grand Island as a young man where he was educated.
He married
Patricia Sorahan. Later, he married
Nancy Shunkwiler on Dec. 16, 1988, at Lincoln. They lived in Grand Island. He was employed by the IAMS Company for the past five years.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Grand Island; three sons, Scott Lee and Boe Lee, both of Lincoln, and Sam Lee of Grand Island; two daughters, Tammy Lee of Lincoln and Emma Lee of Grand Island; a stepdaughter, Molly Galvan of Grand Island; six grandchildren; his parents; a brother, Marlin Davis of Lincoln and a sister, Dawn Furlong of Julian.
Beulah Lumbard
Beulah L. Lumbard, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Hans Aeppel
LOUP CITY -- Hans Heinrich Albert Aeppel, 77, of Loup City died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Aeppel was cremated. A private family inurnment will be held Thursday afternoon in the Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to the Rose Lane Home or the Sherman County Foundation.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Aeppel was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Flensburg, Germany, to Christian and Christine (Brodersen) Aeppel. He was educated in Germany and was drafted into the German Air Force at the outbreak of World War II. He spent nearly five years in a Russian prisoner-of-war camp.
He married
Gertrud D. "Trudie" Klempien on July 25, 1950, in Flensburg. Three sons were born to the couple.
The Aeppels immigrated to the United States in 1954 and settled in Loup City. In 1967, the family moved to Florida and upon retirement, the couple returned to Loup City. He entered the Rose Lane Home in October 1999 where he lived the rest of his life.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City.
Survivors include his wife, Trudie, and his family.
Dale Bruss
ST. LIBORY-- Dale G. "Ax" Bruss, 60, of St. Libory died Monday, April 3, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare at Lakeview in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Bruss was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Bruss was born on April 3, 1941, in Marshall, Minn., to Ernest A. and Carrie (Garman) Bruss. He received his education in Minnesota.
He married
Helen Wetzel on Sept. 20, 1969, in Central City after his move to Nebraska. He worked for Swift Meat Packing for 13 years. He started working for Union Grain as a truck driver in 1980. He then bought his own truck and was a self-employed trucker. After that, he purchased and operated the Beer Barrel Bar in St. Libory. Prior to his illness, he was employed as a truck driver for Lacy Construction.
Survivors include four daughters, Angie Hull of St. Libory, Katie Kuck of St. Libory, Patty Hansen of Wolbach and Tammy Hoffman of Wabaso, Minn.; two sons, Richard Bruss of St. Libory and Bob Bruss of Tracy, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and one sister, Carol Swint of Tacoma, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one granddaughter, Stacy; and one infant brother.
Zelda Eggleston
CALLAWAY-- Zelda Eggleston, 91, of Callaway, formerly of Oconto and Broken Bow, died Wednesday April 4, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Callaway.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Dale Coates will officiate. Burial will be in the Oconto Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Oconto and the Good Samaritan Care Center in Callaway.
Mrs. Eggleston was born July 15, 1909, in Oconto to Benjamin and Lizzie (Montgomery) Hemphill. She attended country school in the Wiseman Table community.
She married
Elijah "Lige" Eggleston on Aug. 31, 1925, in Norton, Kan. The couple lived in the Ryno Table, Oconto and Broken Bow areas in Custer County. Mr. Eggleston died on Nov. 16, 1988. Mrs. Eggleston became a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center in Callaway in 1998.
She was a 50 plus member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She enjoyed her family, especially the great Christmases they shared. She also loved to cook for her family.
Survivors include five sons, Kenneth Eggleston of Oconto, Donald Eggleston of Oconto, Glenn Eggleston of Lexington, Charles Eggleston of Oconto and Lloyd Eggleston of Broken Bow; four daughters, LaVonne Oxford of Broken Bow, Loraine Rogers of Franklin, Judy Struempler of Oconto and Jane LiaKos of Gardner, Kansas; 31 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Ella Mae Casey; two sons, Keith Eggleston and infant son, Ivan; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; five brothers and two sisters.
Marvin Jacobi
CLARKS -- Marvin W. Jacobi, 84, of Clarks died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Ralph Supernaw will officiate. Burial will be in the Clarks Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Solt Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Congregational Church of Clarks.
