William Thomssen
William Thomssen, 95, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Keyser officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Donald Hall
AURORA -- Donald Kelly Hall, 76, of Aurora, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in a Grand Island care home.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Higby Mortuary in Aurora. The Rev. Raymond Deisch will officiate.
Mr. Hall was born on April 13, 1924, in Osceola to Paul and Wanda (Tockey) Hall. He graduated from Dannebrog High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married
Nancy Muldoon in 1986 in Maui, Hawaii.
He was a family psychologist and practiced in South Dakota until retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife of Aurora; two sons, Shawn of Glendo, Wyo. and Dan of Laramie, Wyo.; one daughter, Kathy Carlton of Laramie, Wyo.; one brother, Jene of Rawlins, Wyo.; one sister, Betty Kane of Arcadia, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Reuel Sward
STROMSBURG -- Reuel C. Sward, 88, of Stromsburg died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at the Hearthstone in York.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. The Rev. Keith Brozek will officiate. Burial will be at Swede Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sward was born June 4, 1912, at Shickley to Carl A. and Anna Marie (Swanson) Sward. He received his education at Swede Home and graduated from High Prairie High School in 1929. He then attended York College. From May 1942 to October 1945, he served in the United States Army.
He married
Ruth Marian Shalberg on May 14, 1942, in Omaha. They returned to Stromsburg after he finished in the service. He began selling light lamps and then kerosene refrigerators. He then had the Ford and Chevy garage in Stromsburg and then went on to servicing and selling furnaces and air conditioning units.
He was a lifelong Stromsburg business man and active in Salem Lutheran Church where he served on the church board and sang in the choir. He also was a member of commercial club, Stromsburg Legion and served on the city council when Swede Haven was built.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Carl of York; two daughters, Miriam Sward of Omaha and Elaine (Mrs. Steven) Spady of York; one sister, Orpha (Mrs. Stanton) Moore of Stromsburg; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Joe; three sisters, Bernice Sward, Rachel Westerburg and Naomi Ramsey.
Reginald Good
COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO -- Reginald T. Good, 92, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho died Feb. 1, 2001.
Private services will be at a later date.
English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d'Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of North Idaho.
Mr. Good was born on May 11, 1908, in Wood River to Charles O. and Martha L. (Hansen) Good.
He married
Bernadine Quarles at Coeur d'Alene in 1929. They had been married
for 68 years. He retired in 1972 from the Idaho Department of Highways after 41 years as a civil engineer. He designed I-90 through Coeur d'Alene.
He enjoyed dancing and listening to the big band music of the 1940's.
Survivors include his sister, Bernice Dietrich of Grand Island; one son, Dewey Good of Camarillo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997.
Harold Albee
Harold Clifton Albee, 85, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at BryanLGH West in Lincoln.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to Grand Island Rescue Unit.
Mr. Albee was born Dec. 13, 1915, to Frank C. and Ethel (Boyce) Albee in Grand Island. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Island. He received his education in Hall County and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1933.
After graduation he worked with his father at the Albee Print Shop. After his father's death he operated the shop with his brother, Bob. When the shop was sold in 1962, Harold went to work as a printer for J-Mar Printing. He worked part-time for Copy Cat Printing until his health failed last year.
Mr. Albee married
Helen Husen on Aug. 18, 1940. The couple built a home on Stolley Park Road. Mrs. Albee died Dec. 23, 1983.
On January 17, 1987 Mr. Albee married
Helen Janky in Grand Island.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Mens Brotherhood, the Liederkranz Society and the Cosmos.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Judy Ann (Mrs. Greg) Bartling of New Martinsville, W.V. and Nina Jane (Mrs. Rodney) Skeen of Wood River; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 15 stepchildren, Ron Janky, Elaine Bishop, Joyce Sekutera, Marlene Bolen, Dave Janky, Bob Janky, Judy Hansen, Paul Janky, Barb Ruhe, Karen Roberts, Mark Janky, John Janky, Joe Janky, Mary Brown and Michelle Janky; 41 step-grandchildren; 21 stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Egelston, of Colo., Helen Rhoads of Mont. and Hazel Rowland of N.C.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen and one brother, Bob.
Ruth Benson
AURORA -- Ruth L. Benson, 84, formerly of Hordville, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services are pending with the Solt Funeral Home of Central City.
Minnie Doty
GIBBON -- Minnie Doty, 98, of Gibbon died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in Gibbon.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Gibbon Baptist Church. The Rev. Barbara Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.
The casket will be open at the church prior to services for viewing.
Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon Emergency Unit.

Mrs. Doty was born Dec. 19, 1902, on a farm north of Gibbon to Max and Thesha (Schaffer) Bormann. She grew up in that area and attended rural schools.
She married
Stuart Doty on June 14, 1938, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Gibbon. They later moved to a farm west of Gibbon. They retired in 1968 and moved back to Gibbon.
Mrs. Doty attended the Gibbon Baptist Church and was a long-time member of the Pioneer Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and a sister.
