Margaret Potrzeba
KENESAW -- Margaret Potrzeba, 85, of Kenesaw, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at the Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel in Ord. Memorials are suggested to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church or the Hastings Catholic Schools. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Potrzeba was born August 25, 1915, in Bellwood to Emiel and Emilie (Pieters) Boone. As a child, her family moved to Valley County where she attended rural schools at Vinton and Brace. She graduated from Ord High School in 1933.
She taught at rural schools in Valley and Hall Counties after graduation, and was a substitute teacher in St. Libory.
She married
Anton Potrzeba on Jan. 6, 1944. She worked at the Weather Bureau at Port Townsend while her husband was stationed near by at Fort Warden, Washington, during World War II. After the war, they moved to Ord and later to a farm near St. Libory. Several years later, they moved to their irrigated farm near Gibbon.
After living in a nursing home in Gibbon, she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in June, 1996, where she resided since she became a resident of Haven Home in Kenesaw.
She was a member of the Alter Society and the Catholic Daughters.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Duane of Hastings; one brother, Alfons Bonne of Ord; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Mae Taylor; two brothers, Maurice and Joseph; and one sister Mary Mettinbrink.
Minnie Pritschau
Minnie Pritschau, 94, of Ravenna, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center or Ravenna EMTs.
Mrs. Pritschau was born Nov. 9, 1906, near Ashton to John and Rosa (Frondick) Bazman. She received her education in Rockville.
She married
Waldo Pritschau on Sept. 24, 1925, in Bozeman, Mont. The couple lived their entire lives in the Ravenna community. They operated a garage in Sweetwater, before buying an acreage near the Pritsachau homestead and starting an orchard and truck garden. They later bought a farm between the Middle Loup and South Loup Rivers. Mr. Pritschau died in 1974.
Mrs. Pritschau moved into the Grand Manor in Ravenna in 1978. She entered the Good Samaritan Center in 1991.
She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, puzzles, reading, horseracing and playing bingo.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Shoop of Ravenna and Sandra Osborne of Guernsey, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Robert and Maynard; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; three sisters; and one brothers.
Lela Walden
COLUMBUS -- Lela M. Walden, 88, of Columbus, formerly of Albion, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at the Columbus Manor in Columbus.
Funeral services are pending with the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
'Jake' Hahn
Jacob "Jake" C. Hahn, 24, of Kearney, formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John D. Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Curran Funeral Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Almost Home Program.
Mr. Hahn was born Aug. 15, 1976, at Grand Island to Larry and Jacque (Hopfauf) Hahn. He grew up and received his education in the Grand Island Public School system. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1994.
He was a junior at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, majoring in biology. He was employed with the university as a computer analyst. He also was a sales consultant for Cabela's in Kearney.
He was a youth archery instructor for Cabela's the past several years at Maranatha Bible Camp. He was active in St. Pauls Lutheran Church Youth Group (S.P.Y.) He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed exotic animals and working with children.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Jacque Hahn of Grand Island; one sister, Kemberly Hammeren of Houston; one brother, Shawn Hammeren of Grand Island; a special friend, Shannon Schultze of Kearney; his paternal grandmother, Nedra Hahn of Grand Island and his maternal grandmother, Margaret Hopfauf of Mandan, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jacob Hopfauf and Carl Hahn.
Lee Mason
Lee Mason, 63, of 1109 N. Wheeler No. 1, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at his home.
There will be no services. Mr. Mason was cremated. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mason was born on Oct. 31, 1937, at Grand Island to W.R. "Red" and Mae (Tichy) Mason. He lived most of his life in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1955.
He married
Gloria Lee Bauer in 1962 in California.
Mr. Mason worked security for Wells Fargo and for Ford New Holland.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most other sports. He also coached a youth soccer team.
Survivors include one son, Monte Mason of Lincoln; one daughter, Mandi Mason of Lincoln; one grandson; and one sister, Wanda Lagsding of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Dale.
Lois Pedersen
Lois E. Pedersen, 83, of Grand Island, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at the Nebraska Veterans Home.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
