Gaylord Beach
Gaylord E. Beach, 79, of Grand Island died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the Nebraska Veterans Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Veterans Home.
Darlene Cummins
Darlene I. Cummins, 74, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. John D. Russell will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. Cummins was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cummins was born on Jan. 25, 1926, in George, Iowa, to John and Florence (Fiihr) Heitritter. She was raised and attended school in George, graduating from George High School in 1945.
She attended Morningside College and the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. She then attended Nebraska Wesleyan and received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing.
She married
Frank Cummins on Dec. 23, 1950 in Lincoln. She was employed at the Veterans Hospital in Lincoln and worked at the University of Nebraska Student Health Center. She later worked at Lincoln General Hospital and Jenny Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The couple moved to Grand Island in 1971, where they owned and operated Island Sprinkler.
Her hobbies included traveling and playing bridge.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John and Jim, both of Lincoln; two grandchildren; three sisters, Iola Graves of Sibley, Iowa, Audrey Evers of Hoyt Lakes, Minn. and Sharon Antisdale of Wilton, Iowa; and one brother, Jack Heitritter of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, LaVonne and Norma; and one brother, Duane.
'Bill' Pauly
Willard "Bill" Wayne Pauly, 66, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Pauly was born Oct. 7, 1934, at Wood River to William and Henrietta "Edna" (Luebker) Pauly. He was raised and attended school in the Burwell and Dannebrog areas. He entered the United States Air Force on July 29, 1952. He was honorably discharged in November 1956.
He married
Nancy Hall on Sept. 18, 1967, in Lincoln. They lived in Grand Island where he was self-employed as an over the road truck driver. He retired three years ago due to ill health. He received numerous awards including Driver of the Year for G.I.C.C. in 1986 and Million Mile Safe Driving award.
Survivors include his wife; one son, James of Grand Island; two daughters, Tina Pauly and Lisa Pauly-Perales, both of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Donna Taylor of Detroit, Jeanette Lawhead and Joyce Powell, both of Central City and Karen Pauly of Superior; and two brothers, LeRoy of Kearney and Don of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ron, Darryl and Laverne.
Hugh Dobler
LINCOLN -- Hugh H. Dobler, 85, of Lincoln died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Larry Argenbright will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Military services will be by American Legion Post 3.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services Thursday, all at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dobler owned Service Master until he retired.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II. He was a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church, AHSGR, WSI, Golden K Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post 3 and Quarters Investment Club.
Survivors include his wife, Frieda; one daughter, Linda (Mrs. Robert) Hoffa of Grand Island; one stepson, Vern Hansen of Lincoln; one stepdaughter, Norma (Mrs. Kerry Winterer) Hansen of Omaha; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Trudie (Mrs. Brooke) Kinnerd of Billings, Mont.; one brother, Gerhard Dobler of Ontario, Calif.; and two half sisters, Mary Ann (Mrs. John) McIntyre of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Helen Zard of Rochester, Minn.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Walter Nelson
COMSTOCK -- Walter L. Nelson, 95, of Comstock died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at Jenny Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wescott Baptist Church west of Comstock. The Rev. Don Schauda will officiate. Burial will be in the Douglas Grove cemetery in Comstock.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent.
Memorials are suggested to the Wescott Baptist Church, Douglas Grove Cemetery, Comstock Ben or the donor's choice.
Kevrin Douglass
TARKIO, Mo. -- Kevrin L. Douglass, 25, of Tarkio, Mo., formerly of Kearney, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in Tarkio as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at New Life Assembly Church in Kearney. The Revs. Robert Wine and John Goodbrake will officiate. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Kearney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759, Kearney American Legion Post 52 and the Kearney National Guard Unit.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and before services Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Douglass was born on May 18, 1975, in Minden to Dennis and Margaruite (Lammers) Douglass. He was home schooled in Kearney and attended Kearney High School his senior year, graduating in 1994. He served in the U.S. Army from June 16, 1994, to June 15, 1997.
He married
Tory Lynn Medley on July 3, 1996, in Kearney. They lived in Junction City, Kan. He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan. Following his military service, he worked for Wonder Bread in Manhattan, Kan. They moved to Tarkio, and he worked in various areas of agriculture until his death.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Kearney and attended the Tarkio Baptist Church. He enjoyed the Nebraska Cornhuskers, assembling model cars and spending time with his children.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jaimie Lee at home; twin sons, Michael Lawrence and Marccus Allen at home; his mother and stepfather, Margaruite and Dick Brand of Loomis; his father and stepmother, Dennis and Barbe Douglass of Grand Island; one sister, Crystal Herron of Rock Port, Mo.; one brother, JaWayne Douglass of Loomis; one stepsister, Tracy Kimberly of Holdrege; two stepbrothers, Scott Brand of Hawaii and Stacy Brand of Midwest City, Okla.; and step-grandparents, Delmer and Jean Brand of Bertrand.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fritz and Velma Lammers, Lawrence Douglass and Vera and Leonard Folchert.
