Frieda Reeves
CENTRAL CITY -- Frieda Reeves, 90, of Central City died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Central City Care Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Presbyterian Church in Central City. The Rev. Dale Sallans will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Merrick Foundation or the United Presbyterian Church piano fund.
Mrs. Reeves was born on May 31, 1910, near Clarks to Henry and Rose (Key) Sims. She was educated in Merrick County.
She married
George Elwyn "Red" Reeves on Dec. 4, 1929, in Fremont. They farmed and also had a dairy herd. As well as working beside her husband on the farm, she worked for Leo and Norma Haith, Nite and Day Cafe and Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital. When they retired from farming, the couple moved to Central City. After her retirement, Mrs. Reeves worked at the Crest and Crawford Motels in Central City.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge and Kinginston Ladies Patriarch Militant and the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, for which she was grand matriarch of Nebraska from 1960 to 1961. She received the Decoration of Chivalry, which is the highest honor a member of the Rebekah Lodge can receive.
Her pet project was gathering genealogy information for the Sims and Reeves families.
Survivors include one son, Eugene Reeves of Davenport, Wash.; one daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Larry) Williams of Manhattan, Kan.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clarence Sims of Henderson, Wyo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Gerald, Kenneth and Marvin Sims; and three sisters, Eva Grubbs, Myrtle Michalek and an infant sister, Wilma Sims.
Russell Reichardt
AURORA -- Russell Clarence Reichardt, 98, of Aurora died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at Hamilton Manor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Aurora. The Rev. Joe Scahill will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Higby Mortuary.
Mr. Reichardt was born Nov. 1, 1902 in Seward County to Homer and Ida Janette (Miller) Reichardt. He lived briefly in Kansas and Merrick County before settling in Hamilton County. He attended public schools in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School in 1921.
He married
Marie Winter on Feb. 10, 1926, in Aurora. They farmed northeast of Aurora most of his life. In 1959, they moved into Aurora. After retirement, he drove the school bus and worked as grounds keeper for the Aurora School District 4-R for eight years. Mrs. Reichardt passed away on May 30, 1984. He entered Hamilton Manor in March 1997.
He was a member of the EUB/Aurora Methodist Church since 1924. He also was a member of the Senior Men's Card Club and served as a school board member for District 69 School.
His enjoyed the outdoors and his flower and vegetable gardens.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Arlington, Texas, Keith of Aurora and Jim of Hampton; one daughter, Mary Jane (Mrs. Oren) Rawlings of Apex, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Gundy of Washington, Ill. and Ida Reichardt of Lincoln.
Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Pearson and Anna Carnes.
Louise Hasenkamp
STANTON -- Louise F. Hasenkamp, 73, of Stanton died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Stanton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton. Burial will be in the Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Schultz-Vogel-Johnson Funeral Home in Stanton.
Mrs. Hasenkamp was born on June 19, 1927, southwest of McCool Junction to Harley and Bertha (Roemer) Fassnacht. She attended District 4 Country School and graduated from McCool High School in 1943 when she was 15 years old. While in high school, she took normal training and started teaching in rural schools in the fall of 1943. She taught in York, Fillmore, Dodge and Clay counties for nine years.
She married
Warren Hasenkamp on June 7, 1953, at the First Lutheran Church in McCool Junction. They lived and farmed in Cuming and Stanton counties.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton and was an active member of the Stanton area. She worked several years at Sherwood Medical in Norfolk, the Stanton schools and the Stanton Nursing Home until her health failed and she entered the Stanton Nursing Home as a patient.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Stanley Hasenkamp of Stanton; three daughters, Janet Adams of Wayne, Tammy (Mrs. Randy) Smalley of Norfolk and Cynthia (Mrs. Keith) VanDerlin of Grand Forks, N.D.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Ramer Fassnacht of Hampton, Harley Fassnacht of Aurora and Dwight Fassnacht of Fairmont; and two sisters, Byrdene Thompson of Perry, Iowa, and Naomi Fassnacht of Fairmont.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Wallace Fassnacht.
Beulah Unick
PLEASANTON -- Beulah Unick, 69, of Pleasanton died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past five weeks.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Pleasanton. The Rev. Karla Sheffy will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and before services Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Pleasanton Emergency Unit or the church.
Miss Unick was born on April 16, 1931, in Pleasanton to Fred and Bertha (Munster) Unick. She grew up in Pleasanton and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1948.
She worked at the Planeview Café and then at Baldwin Filters for 27 years before retiring in January 2000.
She attended the Pleasanton United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and spending time with nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her mother, of Pleasanton; one sister, Bertha Unick of Pleasanton; and two brothers, Bob Unick and Kenneth Unick, both of Pleasanton.
'Copey' Cohagan
SPRING, Texas -- Francis L. "Copey" Cohagan, 74, of Spring, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Houston Northwest Medical Center.
Graveside memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Central City cemetery with the Rev. Rich Savage officiating.
Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Spring Woods United Methodist Church in Spring, Texas.
Mr. Cohagan was born on Jan. 15, 1927, in Central City to Paul and Daisy (Ryan) Cohagan. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947.
He married
Dixie L. Willeford on March 16, 1949, at Warren Methodist Church in Lancaster County. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1951. He was a civil engineer and manager for Eastern Transmission Corp. and retired as senior vice president of operations in 1985. He was a longtime member of Spring Woods United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Cathy (Mrs. James) Maxwell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; twin sons, Rich Cohagan of Midland, Texas, and Randy Cohagan of Sugarland, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, DeVon Cohagan of Casper, Wyo., and Edwin Cohagan of Gothenburg.
Owen Ingerson
PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Owen C. Ingerson, 75, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott. The Rev. Daniel Storvick will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Redwood Memorial Gardens in Dewey, Ariz.
Memorials are suggested to the Prescott High School Band Boosters or the donor's choice.
Mr. Ingerson was born June 16, 1925, in Atchison, Kan. He attended Atchison High School, graduating in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married
Shirley Wenzel, who preceded him in death in 1949.
He married
Ellen Gruber in 1950, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this past June.
Mr. Ingerson attended nurses' training at the Newman School of Nursing in Emporia, Kan. He worked for 26 years as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in Prescott and Grand Island.
Mr. Ingerson was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. He was an avid woodworker, mechanic and fix-it man. He shared his talents with many organizations, including the YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen of St. Paul, Minn. and Andrew of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Dena Jones and Kristine Foster, both of Prescott and Cheryl Dietzel of Tucson, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren.
