'Jack' Speck
LINCOLN-- Sherald F. "Jack" Speck, 82, of Lincoln died Feb. 27, 2001, at his home.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Marie Hutchings
Marie (Sass) Hutchings, 83, of Arlington, Mass., formerly of Grand Island, died Jan. 25, 2001, in Arlington.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Services and burial have occurred in Arlington.
Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Lois Pedersen
Lois E. Pedersen, 83, of Grand Island died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. The Rev. Virgil Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from noon until service time on Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home with the family receiving friends at that time.
Memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Church or to the Grand Generation Center.
Mrs. Pedersen was born Jan. 14, 1918, at Thayer to Austin John and Ann (Price) Prather. She grew up in Thayer and Arcadia, graduating from Arcadia High School.
She married
Lyle M. Pedersen on June 4, 1947, at Grand Island. She was employed part time at Skagway and she also worked at the Ordnance Plant from 1965 until 1970. She was a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Grand Generation Center, National Camping and Hikers Association and the retirees' Golden Trail Blazers Club. She was a Girl Scout volunteer for 10 years and was also a member of the Good Sam Club.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lylaine Adelle (Mrs. William) Abbott of Lincoln and two grandsons.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Leonard Prather.
Mary Tucker
Mary E. Tucker, 76, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at her home after an illness.
Services were Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Lepper officiating. Burial was in the Kearney cemetery Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Tabitha Home Health Care.
Mrs. Tucker was born March 24, 1924, in Warren, Ark., to Jordan and Lucy (Outlaw) Stuard. She graduated from Hermitage, Ark., High School in 1942.
In 1943 she married
Chester Wynn in Little Rock, Ark. He was killed in 1944 while serving in Germany.
On Dec. 3, 1949, she married
Glen Tucker. They lived in Oklahoma City for four years and later returned to Arkansas and lived in Conway and Warren.
They moved to Nebraska, living in Lexington, Kearney and Broken Bow before settling in Grand Island. She helped her husband at his chiropractic clinic and also enjoyed collecting angels and glass bells.
Survivors include her husband, Glen; four sons, Larry Wynn of Edgerton, Mo., Dr. Thomas Tucker of Kearney, Scott Tucker of Grand Island and Tracy Tucker of St. Paul; nine grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia McConnell of Hot Springs, Ark.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.T. Stuard and Thomas R. Stuard, and one sister, Mabel Curry.
Robert Harris
FULLERTON -- Robert B. Harris, 70, of Fullerton died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home. The Rev. Wendell Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Harris was born March 9, 1930, to Harry and Hazel (Whittington) Harris. He grew up and attended school at Fullerton. He entered the Army in October 1951. He served in Korea under 595 N.P. Company until he was discharged in August 1953. He received four bronze service stars.
He married
Lola Bonham on March 23, 1952, at Fullerton. He worked as a truck driver for various construction crews throughout the state. For the past 15 years, he worked for the City of Fullerton. He retired in 2000.
He enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Fullerton American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Robert, Roger, Rick and Russell, all of Fullerton; one daughter, Rhonda (Mrs. Steve) Walz of Homer; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim and Lowell, both of Central City and Ted of Belgrade; six sisters, Kathryn (Mrs. Jack) Decker of Norco, Calif., Betty (Mrs. Bob) Smith of Littleton, Colo., Wilma (Mrs. Terry) Dufoe and Janet (Mrs. Ron) Bishop, both of Fullerton, Lila (Mrs. Rich) Ritterbush of Belgrade and Linda Harris of Fullerton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Billie; one infant sister, Twila, and one grandson.
Charlotte Lemburg
WOOD RIVER -- Charlotte A. Lemburg, 76, of Wood River died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Western Hall County Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Wood River. The Rev. Rose Bartleson will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Rescue Unit or to the Wood River Cemetery.
Mrs. Lemburg was born Oct. 5, 1924, at Campbell to Hobart and Opal Buswell. She grew up in the Campbell area and was educated at Campbell schools.
She married
Carson Lemburg on Dec. 18, 1939, at Sharon Springs, Kan. The couple lived in Wood River where she was a homemaker. She also worked for a few years at the turkey plant in Gibbon.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wood River. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, word scrambles and number puzzles.
Survivors include four sons, DeVon of Las Vegas, Roland of Wood River, Whitey of Grand Island and Owen of Wood River; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Judy Morris of Washington, Phyllis Smalley of Washington, Ora Jacks of Las Vegas and Laurel Avery of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
Lola Naslund
STROMSBURG -- Lola A. Naslund, 85, of Stromsburg, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg with the Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Naslund was born April 1, 1915, on a farm east of Stromsburg to Oscar and Caroline (Silen) Hanson. The family moved to a farm west of town when she was still a baby. She attended Hardy School and started high school in Stromsburg.
Her mother died in 1928. In order to keep the family together, she stayed home to do housework and care for her younger brothers and sisters. Nearly every Sunday, she cooked dinner for her entire family, which included nine brothers and sisters. She continued that tradition until her father died in 1955.
She married
Clarence Carlson on Jan. 12, 1957. He died on July 20, 1968. She married
William Naslund on Sept. 20, 1972. Mr. Naslund died on March 6, 1975.
Mrs. Naslund had several hobbies, but she especially enjoyed collecting poetry and making scrapbooks of family photos. She began attending Sunday school when she was 11 years old. She became a Christian during a series of services at the high school with evangelist Paul Rood. She continued carrying on in all phases of her life even after she was diagnosed with cancer 20 years ago.
Mrs. Naslund was active in the Stromsburg Senior Center until she moved to Midwest Covenant Home in October 2000.
Survivors include a sister, Clarice Eklund of Gresham; and two brothers, Sydney Hanson and Kenneth Hanson.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Reynold, Roger, Dean, Dennis and Orion; and one sister, Elphie Otte.
