John Petteys
BURWELL -- John B. Petteys, 69, of Burwell died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Community Fund, in care of Library Improvement.
Mr. Petteys was born Jan. 23, 1932, at Ord to Hiram A. and Rebecca (Mills) Petteys. His life was spent in Garfield County, and he was educated in the rural schools of Loup and Garfield counties. He and his twin brother, Jim, graduated from Burwell High School in 1950. He then started his teaching career. He began with a general elementary certificate, and with correspondence courses he earned a junior elementary certificate. He taught many years in Garfield, Valley and Rock counties in rural schools.
He helped his twin brother on the farm during the summer months. The brothers helped neighbors with threshing, working cattle and in any way they could. He enjoyed gardening, nature and the outdoors. Due to poor health, he spent his last three years in Rose Lane Home in Loup City. He loved music and while at Rose Lane played for and joined in the music sessions with the residents.
He was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his cousins.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother.
Nina Mae Wolfe
COMSTOCK -- Nina Mae Wolfe, 80, of Comstock died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center at Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Mark Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Douglas Grove cemetery at Comstock.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Kenneth Keller
LINCOLN -- Kenneth R. Keller, 90, of Lincoln died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Lincoln.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Roper and Sons Chapel in Lincoln. The Rev. Dr. C. Rex Bevins will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Keller was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to Tabitha Hospice.
Mr. Keller was born June 23, 1910, at Gothenburg to Willard and Julia (Richtmyer) Keller. He grew up in Grand Island. He was a University of Nebraska-Lincoln journalism graduate. He was a news reporter for the Lincoln Star and covered the inaugural session of the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature.
He worked in the UNL public relations department for 28 years, retiring in 1975. He was a press officer for the American Mission for the Aid to Greece prior to working for UNL.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 3 and the Nebraska Emeriti Association.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Keller of Lincoln; and a sister, Amy Harrington of Myrtle Point, Ore.
Katie Norskov
NORFOLK -- Katie E. Norskov, 70, of Norfolk, formerly of Albion, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Ron Holling will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Otto Hauschild
Otto Carl Hauschild, 81, of Grand Island died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
There will be no services. Mr. Hauschild was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon and Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hauschild was born on March 22, 1919, in Ravenna to Albert P. and Marie (Ahrens) Hauschild. He grew up on a farm near Ravenna and attended Ravenna schools. He farmed with his family and later worked in oil fields.
He married
Rose L. Kriha on Oct. 18, 1948, in Ravenna. They lived in Grand Island, where he worked for the city Maintenance Department. He later became self-employed in land leveling and snow removal. Due to failing health, he retired about 20 years ago.
He enjoyed mechanical and electrical work.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Platt-Duetsche.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Katie Roberts of Fremont, Nancy Throop of Denver and Barbara Hauschild of Thornton, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Jimmie Phillips
Jimmie A. Phillips, 80, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Lakeview.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at this time.
Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.
Clara Allen
KEARNEY -- Due to the weather, the burial for Clara Allen, 88, of Kearney has been postponed until 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Hope cemetery in Scotia.
Mrs. Allen died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
