Betty Kady
ALDA-- Betty L. Kady, 69, of Alda died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Curran Funeral Chapel in Grand Island. The Revs. Rose M. Bartleson and Bev J. Minor will officiate. Private burial for the family will be at a later date in the Alda Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Curran Funeral Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Norma Keefover
WYMORE -- Norma J. Keefover, 75, of Wymore died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Wymore Church of Christ. Jon Palmquist and Gail Portenier will officiate. Burial will be in the Oketo, Kan. cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home and at the church one hour before service time.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Keefover was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Lanham to Albert and Elsie (Jurgens) Wathor. She spent her childhood in the Odell area before moving to Wymore where she graduated from Wymore High School in 1942.
She married
Stanley Keefover on March 28, 1944, at Marysville, Kan. They lived in Beatrice for many years before moving to Wymore in 1958.
She worked at Christlieb Hardware and then at J & L Hardware in Wymore for 20 years.
She was a member of the Wymore Church of Christ, the church's Naomi Circle and Christian Builders Sunday school class, and the Wymore Birthday Club. Her hobbies included attending auctions, sewing, cooking and having coffee with her friends.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Larry of Ringgold, Ga.; a daughter, Jackie (Mrs. Scott) Jones of Grand Island; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon; and a sister, Ruth.
Alice Shearer
KEARNEY -- Alice H. Shearer, 66, of Kearney died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Onamae Waddel will officiate. Mrs. Shearer was cremated.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Shearer was born on Nov. 5, 1934, in Ashton to Edward and Katy (Budzinski) Fredrick. She grew up and was educated in Ashton. She graduated from Ashton High School and attended St. Francis Nursing School.
She married
Leonard W. "Babe" Shearer on March 30, 1954, in Greeley, Colo. They lived in Wagner, S.D., and moved to Grand Island shortly thereafter. Mr. Shearer died in October 1968.
Mrs. Shearer worked in sales at Crowley's, Herberger's and GladRags. She retired from GladRags in 2000.
She attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included cooking, bowling, working with flowers, being outdoors, camping and boating.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelley Aubushon of Shaver Lake, Calif., and Terry Shearer of Grand Island; one son, Brad Shearer of Grand Island; four grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Fredrick of Chapman and Richard Fredrick of St. Libory; one sister, Irene Grabowski of Grand Island; and a special friend, Roger Loibl of Kearney.
Grovert Harris
CAMBRIDGE -- Grovert Ulmont Harris, 83, of Cambridge died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Cambridge Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. The Rev. Phillip J. Ewert will officiate. Burial will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested in his name.
Mr. Harris was born on Jan. 11, 1918, to Paul and Lorene (Smith) Harris. He attended school in Bartley.
He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1937 to 1940. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II.
He married
Lucy E. (Edwards) Bilsing on Aug. 15, 1954, in Culbertson. He had lived in Indianola for 45 years and had lived at Cambridge Manor since April 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Penny (Mrs. Arlyn) Minary of McCook; five grandchildren; one brother, Beryl Harris of Omaha; and two sisters, Ida Irene Carter of Danville, Va., and M. Eileen (Mrs. Jude) Byrne of Grand Island.
His wife died on June 29, 1999.
Arthur Masterson
OMAHA -- Arthur L. Masterson, 71, of Omaha died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Hallmark Nursing Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kingsway Christian Church in Omaha. The Rev. David Haynes will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Westside Chapel in Omaha is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Masterson was born on Feb. 11, 1929, in Backus, Minn., to Albert and Evangline (King) Franklin.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1953.
He married
Joan Ball.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Skip of Denver and Kevin of Omaha; one daughter, Judy Wollen of Blair; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Laura (Mrs. Warren) Nyland of Colorado; and two brothers.
Fred Terry
Fred E. Terry, 90, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in the Gollaher Chapel. The Rev. Del Roper will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel with family receiving friends throughout the day and evening.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Terry was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Meadow Grove to Frank and Anna (Kinne) Terry. He graduated from Wayne State Teachers College in 1936.
He married
Edna Hansen in December of 1938. Mrs. Hansen died in October of 1939.
He married
Marian Rose Mulvihill in January of 1941.
He was a teacher, superintendent of schools and coach in several northeastern Nebraska high schools before moving to Grand Island, where he taught government and history and coached track at Northwest High School. He retired in 1976.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Rose, of Grand Island; three sons, Fred Jr. of Topeka, Kan., Philip of Huntsville, Ala. and Larry of Grand Island; five daughters, Suzanne (Mrs. Willis) Luedke of Crete, Cleo (Mrs. Robert) Wright of Panama City, Fla., Mary (Mrs. David) Thor of Billings, Mont., Marcia (Mrs. Michael) Patterson of Inola, Okla. and Martha Morris of Grand Island; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers; and five sisters.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark James; one infant grandchild; four brothers; and three sisters.
