Clarence Weides
KEARNEY -- Clarence M. Weides, 85, of Kearney died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the Mother Hull Home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. The Rev. Mike McDonald will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic cemetery in Lexington.
Christian wake services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to St. James Catholic Church or the Mother Hull Home.
Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary is in charge of arrangements in Kearney.
Mr. Weides was born on Feb. 15, 1915, in Lexington to George and Mary C. (Hauser) Weides. He graduated from Lexington High School. After graduation, he farmed in the Lexington area and then operated a Mobile service station in Eddyville. He was a salesman for Forney Welders and Welding Supply Company and later for the Kearney Co-op until he retired in 1980.
He married
Frances C. Clouse on Aug. 27, 1947, in Eddyville. Mr. Weides had been a Kearney resident since 1959.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary (Mrs. John) Rodriguez; seven sons, Tom, Kevin, Tim, Bob, Joe and Chris, all of Kearney, and Matt of Axtell; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elenore Buettner and Frances Dolton, both of Grand Island, and Kathleen (Mrs. Edward) Maher of Dennison, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
Allene Werner
ST. EDWARD -- Allene Mae Carter Werner, 83, of St. Edward died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward with the Revs. John Gradwohl and Edward Gill officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mrs. Werner was born on May 6, 1917, in St. Edward to Joseph and Bertha (Weakley) Carter. She was educated in St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1934.
She married
Kenneth E. Werner on June 25, 1934, in Luverne, Minn. The couple lived in St. Edward.
She entered Cloverlodge Care Center in September 2000.
She was a member of the United Women of the Methodist-Presbyterian Church, the Royal Neighbors of America and the St. Edward Woman's Club.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Richard of St. Edward; two daughters, Karen K. (Mrs. Del) Weed of Lincoln and Lorrie A. (Mrs. Richard) Standaert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Anderson of St. Edward.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Vera Douglass Folchert
NORTH PLATTE -- Vera E. Folchert, 95, of North Platte died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Premier Estates in North Platte.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Adams and Swanson Chapel in North Platte. The Rev. Rob Kuefner of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard Bacon will officiate.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Folchert was born on June 23, 1905, near Haigler in Dundy County to Fred and Ethel (Calkins) Cuddeback. She grew up and was educated in Nebraska.
She married
Lawrence M. Douglass in 1923, and they lived near Cushing and Dunning for more than 20 years. They moved to Grand Island in 1955.
Mr. Douglass died in 1966.
She worked at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island for more than 13 years, retiring in 1976.
In 1976, she moved to North Platte, where she married
Leonard Folchert in 1977.
Mr. Folchert died in 1997.
Mrs. Folchert was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Freda (Mrs. Wendle) Hagmann of Grand Island and Janice (Mrs. Gordon) Hendrickson of Payette, Idaho; five sons, Jerold Douglass of Merna, Alvin Douglass of North Platte, Les and Vance Douglass, both of Ashby, and Dennis Douglass of Grand Island; a stepdaughter, Jeanie Hansen of Alliance; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Leila Wempen; two grandsons; a great-grandson; four brothers; and two sisters.
Hugh Dobler
LINCOLN -- Hugh H. Dobler, 85, of Lincoln died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Larry Argenbright will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park. Military services will be by American Legion Post 3.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before services Wednesday, all at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dobler owned Service Master until he retired.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II. He was a member of Sheridan Lutheran Church, AHSGR, WSI, Golden K Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post 3 and Quarters Investment Club.
Survivors include his wife, Frieda; one daughter, Linda (Mrs. Robert) Hoffa of Grand Island; one stepson, Vern Hansen of Lincoln; one stepdaughter, Norma (Mrs. Kerry) Hansen of Omaha; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Trudie (Mrs. Brooke) Kinnerd of Billings, Mont.; one brother, Gerhard Dobler of Ontario, Canada; and two half sisters, Mary Ann (Mrs. John) McIntyre of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Helen Zard of Rochester, Minn.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Dorothy Clark
Dorothy F. Clark, 90, of Grand Island died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Hoelck officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Clark was born on Aug. 22, 1909, at Elyria to Frank and Nellie (Kozial) Wegrzyn. She attended school in the Burwell area.
She married
Harold A. Clark on June 4, 1944, in New York City. They lived in New York, where she was a retail buyer for 12 different stores. She retired in 1965. Mr. Clark died in 1974. She moved to Grand Island in 1977.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Ahleane Wojtasek of Ord; Edna Rhoades of Denver, Colo.; and Margaret Zinkann of Duqunin, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters.
