Florence Kastens
LINCOLN -- Florence A. Kastens, 95, of Lincoln died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, in Lincoln.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roper and Sons Chapel at 4300 O St. in Lincoln with the Rev. Larry Arganbright officiating.
Graveside services will be prior to the memorial service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Those attending may meet at gate No. 2.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. Sunday until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Sheridan Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Kastens was born in Sumner, Iowa. She worked as a secretary at Lincoln Liberty Life Insurance. She was a charter member of Sheridan Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, John C. Kastens of Lincoln and Robert D. Kastens of Grand Island; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Marie Pfaff
COLUMBUS -- Marie Angela Pfaff, 89, of Columbus, died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Columbus Manor.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. Father Dan Keller will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. A vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8 to 10 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Scotus Educational Fund.
Mrs. Pfaff was born April 20, 1910 at Charles City, Iowa, to Charles and Nellie (Lonergan) Daly. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1929 in Charles City.
She married
Howard Pfaff on Aug. 1, 1938 at Charles City. The couple moved to Columbus in 1939 where they operated Gambles Store. She also worked at J.C. Penney.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Christian Mothers, Franciscan Missionary and Nocturnal Adoration.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Joe) Davis of Norfolk, Frances (Mrs. Larry) Sleddens of Columbus, Phyllis (Mrs. Ken) Waters of El Paso, Texas; one son, Charles of Grand Island; one sister, Margaret Hoeft of Charles City, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
Louis Denning
Louis T. Denning, 94, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Kearney Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mr. Denning was born Jan. 21, 1906, at Elm Creek to Charles and Julia (Dickeson) Denning. He was educated at Odessa schools.
He worked on the family farm before moving to Colorado, where he began his career in the entertainment field. He and his brother played guitar and sang at many radio stations throughout Colorado, California and Texas. Mr. Denning moved to Grand Island in 1994.
He married
Lelah McGinnis, and later married
Leona May Potter. She died in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Roy Louis Denning of Eureka, Calif.; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers; and two sisters.
Arline Otto
Arline E. Otto, 69, of Grand Island, formerly of Wood River, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Bertha Friesen
HENDERSON -- Bertha E. Friesen, 89, of Henderson, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the Henderson Care Center in Henderson.
Graveside committal services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the E.M.B. cemetery southeast of Henderson.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Community Bible Church in Lushton.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the Lewis Funeral Chapel in Henderson. The family will receive friends and family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Friesen was born Nov. 22, 1911, on a farm southeast of Henderson to David P. and Helena (Epp) Mierau. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1929 and then attended York College in York.
She married
Klaus H. Friesen on Jan. 21, 1934, at her parents' farm home near Henderson. The couple farmed near Henderson nearly all their lives. Mr. Friesen died July 27, 1978. She continued to live on the farm place until moving into the Henderson Care Center six years ago. In prior years Mrs. Friesen was very active in the Henderson Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Community Bible Church at Lushton, where she was active in many organizations within the church. Her favorite activities included reading and writing letters and sending cards to her children and grandchildren on their birthdays and at Christmastime.
Survivors include nine children; Marjorie, (Mrs. Harvey) Smith of Henderson, Evelyn (Mrs. Charles) Duerksen of Freeman, S.D., Milford of Douglas, Leroy of Menno, S.D., James of Loup City, Arlyn of Mason City, Vernon of Henderson, Beverly (Mrs. William) Brown of Cairo and Eleanor (Mrs. John) Pauls of Sutton; 34 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gustav, Harry and Rudolph and two sisters, Edith and Helen.
Naoma Martson
CENTRAL CITY -- Naoma Martson, 83, of Central City, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Presbyterian Church in Central City. The Rev. Dale Sallans will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the United Presbyterian church.
Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Martson was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Central City to Clifford B. and Dorothy Augusta (Wilson) Foster. She graduated from Central City High School in 1935.
She worked at Trotter's Store in Central City, the Republican Newspaper and Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
On Dec. 29, 1940, she married
Ivan O. Martson in Central City. They lived one year in Los Angeles, two years in Omaha and two years in Silver Creek before returning to Central City to live. She was involved in the family business of Martson Ag Service.
Mrs. Martson has been a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Central City.
Mrs. Martson had been a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Central City since 1930. She taught Sunday School and was active in the United Presbyterian Women.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Tim) Bond of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. and Kay (Mrs. Frank) Georgiana of Hastings; one brother, Lowell L. Foster of Escondido, Calif.; one sister, Marilyn Gillham of Redmond, Ore.; two grandsons; one great-grandson; four step grandsons; and eight step great-grandchildren.
