'Bert' Olson
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Bertil A. "Bert" Olson, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, in Colorado Springs after battling Alzheimer's disease.
Mr. Olson was cremated at Alternative Funeral Services in Colorado Springs. No memorial services are planned.
Mr. Olson was born on May 12, 1921, in Comstock to Fritz and Anna (Anderson) Olson. He moved to Michigan after high school graduation.
He married
Geraldine Fletcher on Aug. 12, 1944, in Clawson, Mich.
He was a quality control supervisor at Bower Roller Bearing in Detroit until they moved in 1954 to Loup City, where they farmed. Mr. Olson joined Sperry New Holland in Grand Island as a quality control supervisor. They moved to Cairo, where they lived until 1982. Mr. Olson retired in 1982, and they moved to Fairfield Bay, Ark. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1999 because of Mr. Olson's ill health.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shrine Club and was a past patron of Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ellie Romans of Alda and Florence (Mrs. Charles) Lueck of Colorado Springs; one son, George Olson of Lincoln; six grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Emil of Broken Bow and Vernon and Evert, both of Palmer; and one sister, Maxine (Mrs. Garnet) Wright of Broken Bow.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis; one brother and one sister.
Traci Wolanski
HUMBLE, Texas -- Traci L. Wolanski, 28, of Humble, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at her parents' home in Hershey, Neb.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Wolanski was born on Sept. 9, 1972, in Loup City to Richard and Jo (Schamp) Bridger. She spent her early years in Grand Island before moving with her family to North Platte in 1982.
She graduated from Hershey High School in 1990. She then attended Grand Island Business College, graduating in 1991. She moved to Texas for a short time; moved back to North Platte, where she worked at various jobs; and moved to Aurora, Colo., in 1994.
She and her fiance', Mike Wolanski, moved to New York in 1998. They were married
on Sept. 25, 1999, in North Platte. They moved to Humble, Texas, where they lived until December 2000.
She became ill in February 2000 after becoming pregnant with her son. She suffered a long illness. She had just moved back home to Nebraska the day before her death.
Her hobbies were horseback riding, camping, skiing, dancing and spending time with her husband.
Survivors include her husband; her parents, Rick Bridger of Humble and Bill and Jo Melgoza of Hershey; two sisters, Tina (Mrs. Mike) Wilson of North Platte and Maria Venzor of Hershey; and two stepbrothers, David Melgoza of North Platte and Robert Melgoza of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her son, William (L.B.) Wolanski on Dec. 20, 2000; and her grandparents.
William Wolanski
HUMBLE, Texas -- William (L.B.) Michael Wolanski, 4 months, of Humble, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Northeast Medical Center in Humble, Texas, after a terminal illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

William was born on Aug. 2, 2000, in Houston to Michael and Traci Wolanski. His mother died on Monday, Dec. 25.
Survivors include his father, of Humble; maternal grandparents, Rick Bridger of Humble and Bill and Jo Melgoza of Hershey; paternal grandparents, Mike and Marlene Wolanski of Oakdale, N.Y.; and great-grandparents, Don and Darlene Bridger and Verla Owings of Broken Bow and Yenes Gregory of Florida.
Mary Ellen Anderson
Mary Ellen Anderson, 78, of 3423 Kelly St. No. 315 died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wed-nesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rose Bartleson officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Cancer Treatment Center, Grand Generation Center or the Alda United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Anderson was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Tekamah to Victor S. and Irma (Healea) Cram. She grew up in Oakdale and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1940. She attended Norfolk Business College for one year.
She married
Joseph Maschi in 1943.
She married
Durl Anderson in 1950. She worked at the U.S. government printing office in Washington, D.C. She worked in the food service, secretarial and sales fields in the Grand Island area. She also worked for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include seven daughters, Bobbie Carlson of Omaha, JoAnn Hauck of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gerrie Roberson and Sheila Anderson, both of Grand Island, Becky Killian of Alda and Brenda Anderson and Shelley Lehl, both of North Platte; one son, Dennis Anderson of Holdrege; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Margaret (Mrs. Ray) Magwire of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by one grandson and a brother, Edwin J. Cram.
Vene Bacus
LITCHFIELD-- Vene Bacus, 83, of Litchfield died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Litchfield Christian Church. The Rev. Ken Woolery will officiate. Burial will be in the Litchfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bacus was born July 31, 1917, in Custer County to Charles and Mae (Lewis) Bacus. He attended school in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1963. After graduation, he worked for CB&Q; Railroad.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was stationed in Alaska during World War II. For two of those years he served with the Railway Operating Battalion on the Alaskan Railway.
He married
Irene Haller on Dec. 17, 1948, in Minden. The couple lived in Litchfield. He was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 34 years and retired on May 30, 1979.
He served on the Litchfield School Board, Town Board, cemetery Board, Housing Authority and was a member of the Litchfield Christian Church and Elks Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Bacus of Elkhorn and Chuck Bacus of Lincoln; and four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie.
