Dorothy DeMartini
ALLIANCE -- Dorothy DeMartini, 79, of Alliance died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance. The Rev. Jim Golka will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Highland Park Care Center.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1921, in Grand Island to Michael and Catherine (Schulte) O'Malley.
She spent most of her life near Oakland, Calif., before moving to Alliance in 1994.
Survivors include one son, Mikel Yarmon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Eileen Wilkins of Alliance and Mildred Gorin of Tacoma, Wash.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother and one sister.
Elizabeth Jarecki
COLUMBUS -- Elizabeth L. Jarecki, 85, of Columbus died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home. A rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Jarecki was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Elyria to Joseph and Valeria (Podraza) Kiolbasa. She attended schools in Merrick County.
On Nov. 22, 1933, she married
Emory S. Jarecki in Clarks. They farmed in the Columbus area until moving to a farm near Lindsay in 1942. Following retirement in 1971, they moved back to Columbus.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and St. Bonaventure Guild in Columbus.
Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Joe) Dusel of Tilden, Sister Carole M. Jarecki of Colorado Springs, Colo., Frances (Mrs. Art) Korth of Lindsay and Betty (Mrs. Walter) Spellerberg of Granby, Colo.; four sons, Dan Jarecki and David Jarecki, both of Lindsay, Bob Jarecki of Columbus and Steve Jarecki of Monroe; two sisters, Esther Hornback of Valparaiso, Ind., and Lorraine Siemek of Omaha; 28 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Eugenia Jarecki; four sisters, Monica Dixon, Frances Kiolbasa, Claire Ksiazek and Dorothy Prososki; and an infant brother, Alexander Kiolbasa.
Leo Marks
ASHLAND -- Leo W. Marks, 87, of Ashland, formerly of Shelton, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Ashland Care Center in Ashland.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Shelton. The Rev. John Ewton will officiate. Burial will be in the Shelton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Marks was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Shelton to Walter and Ida (Wright) Marks. He grew up and received his education in Shelton.
He married
Ann Jensen on Aug. 31, 1935, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Shelton. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a rail inspector for more than 40 years before retirement. The couple moved to Omaha in 1997, and in 1999 they moved to the Ashland Care Center.
He was a member of the church and the Eagles Club.
Survivors include his wife; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Garrett-Marks of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by two infant sons, one daughter, three brothers and four sisters.
Lorraine Dibbern
ECKERT, Colo. -- Lorraine Dibbern, 87, of Eckert, Colo., formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Delta County Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colo.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mesa View cemetery in Delta with the Rev. Bob Spindler officiating.
Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dibbern was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Grand Island to Emil and Amanda (Beberniss) Hann.
On March 20, 1935, she married
Harvey Dibbern in Grand Island. They moved to Eckert in 1978.
She enjoyed tending her rose garden.
Survivors include one brother, Bert Hann of California; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; two step- great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Dor Jean Jarrett.
'Cliff' Kahler
BELLA VISTA, Ark. -- Clifford A. "Cliff" Kahler, 58, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bella Vista Church of Christ in Bentonville, with the Revs. Randall Caselman and Gordon Shields of Kimberling City Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Kahler was born Oct. 25, 1942, to Alex and Elise (Boggs) Kahler.
He was a member of the Bella Vista Church of Christ and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Marg Kahler of Bella Vista; one son, Doug Kahler of Pineville, Mo.; one daughter, Susie Kahler of Rogers, Ark.; one brother, Jim Kahler of Palmyra; and one sister, Twila Mason of Bella Vista, Ark.
Paula Calderon
Paula Calderon, 70, of Grand Island died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. wake service at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1928, at Colonia A. Obregon, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Augustin Calderon and Manuela Mendoza. She grew up in Mexico.
She married
Marcelino Galaviz at Colonia Obregon, Chihuahua, in 1944. Mr. Galaviz died in 1985.
She moved to Columbus in 1989 and to Grand Island in 1992. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and prayed the rosary every day. She enjoyed crocheting and baking pastries.
Survivors include seven sons, Edmundo Galaviz of Mexico and Victor Manuel, Alfaro Galaviz, Marco Antonio, Juan Luis Galaviz, Arnoldo Galaviz and Hugo Roman Galaviz, all of Grand Island; four daughters, Monserrat Galaviz and Dora Lilia Galaviz, both of Mexico, and Rosa Marta Galaviz and Patricia Galaviz, both of Grand Island; 42 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Amaro Calderon and Miguel Calderon; and one sister, Sulema Calderon.
She was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
