Catherine Wojtkiewicz
FULLERTON -- Catherine M. Wojtkiewicz, 87, of Fullerton died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Fullerton.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha. The Rev. Frank Partusch will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. Wojtkiewicz's body was donated to the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Palmer Funeral Home of Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wojtkiewicz was born on August 3, 1913, near Krakow to Fred and Stella (Kush) Bugay Krug. She attended school at Krakow. As a young woman, she moved to work at the old St. Joseph's Hospital for several years.
On Sept. 7, 1936, she married
Anton "Tony" Wojtkiewicz at Omaha. She worked as a cook at Roberts Dairy and the Commodore Hotel in Omaha. Mr. Wojtkiewicz died on July 31, 1984.
In July 1996, she entered the Beverly Healthcare Center due to failing health. She was a seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, reading and gardening. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha and Navy Mothers.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and Edward, both of Omaha; seven daughters, Kathy Pena, Janet Reda, Jean Handler, Mary (Mrs. Robert) Holmes, Joan Wojtkiewicz, all of Omaha, Marcy Murphy of Lusby, Md., and Teresa (Mrs. Gene) Lassek of Fullerton; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Lester Krug and Alex Krug; one sister, Dorothy Grzywa; three half-brothers, Paul Bugay, Lonnie Bugay and John Bugay; and three half sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Frank) Nowak, Emma (Mrs. Andrew) Czapla and Wanda (Mrs. Walter) Lassek.
Bertha Meusborn
LINCOLN -- Bertha Meusborn, 95, of Lincoln died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Haven Manor in Lincoln.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Timothy Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Meusborn was born Aug. 22, 1905, in Genoa to Anson and Anna Haggard Crozier. She attended the Genoa Public Schools and graduated from Genoa High School in 1923. She attended nursing training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
She married
Emil Meusborn on April 2, 1941, at Genoa. She worked as a registered nurse and a homemaker. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1941. Mr. Meusborn died Aug. 16, 1968.
In 1988, she moved to Lincoln where she lived with her sister, Thelma, and then later on she moved into Haven Manor.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and a member of St. John's Ladies Aid.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Vera, Ruby, Beulah and Thelma; and four brothers, Lloyd, Leland, Marshal and Wallace.
Venetta Rittenhouse
Venetta J. Rittenhouse, 72, of Grand Island died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 2 to 5 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include two sons, David and Todd Rittenhouse, both of Grand Island; two daughters, Stephanie (Mrs. Fred) Hongsermeier of Grand Island and Roxanne (Mrs. Leroy) Ceplecha of Chapman; seven grandchildren; one sister, Volia Kalabus of Mount Holly, N.J.; and two half sisters, Mevis LaVon Cook of Lincoln and Twila Joyce Schroeder of LaVista.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Melvin Roy Cheyney, Marvin Leroy Cheyney and an infant brother; and one infant sister.
Muriel Bartholomew
ORD -- Muriel N. Bartholomew, 82, of Ord, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Mrs. Bartholomew was cremated.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. at the Taylor United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Lainge will officiate.
A private family burial will be at the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Taylor VFW.
Donald Dzingle
ASHTON -- Donald R. Dzingle, 68, of Ashton, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at his home.
Services are pending with Peters Funeral Home of Loup City.
Helen Hamilton
GENOA -- Helen M. Hamilton, 94, of Genoa, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Genoa United Methodist Church. The Rev. Hugo Westphal will officiate. Burial will be at Valley View cemetery in Genoa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Anson Funeral Home in Genoa.
Memorials are suggested to the Genoa Public Library.
Mrs. Hamilton was born June 17, 1905, in rural Genoa to Henry and Ana (Kretz) Lowe. She attended District 21 School near Genoa.
She married
Earl Hamilton on April 10, 1930 at the Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. The couple then lived at various communities throughout Nebraska because Mr. Hamilton was employed by the railroad. Mr. Hamilton died Feb. 23, 1976.
She was a member of the Genoa United Methodist Church, WSCS of Belgrade, a lifetime member of the Legion Auxiliary and a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge of Belgrade.
Survivors include two sons, Bob of Glendale, Ariz. and Jim of Lincoln; one daughter, Cecelia Hamilton of Genoa; one brother, Richard Lowe of Lake Havasau, Ariz.; and two stepdaughters, Frances Mae Parker of Houston and Joyce Hamilton Smith of Omaha; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild..
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Lowe, a sister, Anna Taylor and an infant daughter.
Carl Linden
BROKEN BOW -- Carl A. Linden, 81, of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Bob Winn will officiate. Burial will be in the Lomax cemetery near Oconto.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Linden was born June 28, 1918, in Kearney to Carl and Edna (Miles) Linden. He attended country school in the Eddyville/Oconto area.
He married
Lena Zimmerman on Dec. 11, 1951. They lived in the Oconto/Broken Bow area.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Mrs. Thomas) Thompson of Mascoutah, Ill.; one son, Carl of Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Erema Wiley of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter, Evelyn Alspaugh; and one brother, Robert.
