Emilie Furtak
RAVENNA -- Emilie Furtak, 93, of Ravenna died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Mark Cadenbach will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center.
Mrs. Furtak was born on Oct. 22, 1905, in Omaha to Joe and Tillie (Svoboda) Beranek. She was educated in Sargent and attended the University of Nebraska.
She taught elementary school in Custer County.
She married
Leonard Furtak on July 12, 1929, at Sargent. The couple lived in Ord. They moved to Ravenna on Aug. 14, 1942. They owned and operated Furtak's Jewelry in Ravenna for 57 years.
Mrs. Furtak was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekahs and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dr. Edward Furtak of Omaha and Robert Furtak of Hot Springs, S.D.; one daughter, Carollee Zeller of Stockton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward.
Hazel Krzycki
ST. PAUL -- Hazel M. Krzycki, 92, of St. Paul died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. parish and Catholic Daughters rosary, Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Gail Wewel
BASSETT -- Gail M. Wewel, 86, of Bassett died July 21, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services were on Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bassett. The Rev. Jim Hunt officiated. Burial was in St. Boniface's Catholic Cemetery.
Seger Funeral Home of Atkinson was in charge of arrangements.
Marie Woeppel
ERICSON -- Marie Theresa Woeppel, 84, of Ericson died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Ericson. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Sunset cemetery in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Jurdan Counts will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Woeppel was born on May 31, 1915, at West Point to Hiram II and Theresa (Parker) Van Cleave. She grew up in the Fremont and Grand Island areas before moving to Ericson. She worked at the grocery store and for three years at the Ericson post office.
She married
Evertt Woeppel on March 12, 1941, at the United Methodist parsonage in Ericson. The couple owned the Ericson Locker. Mrs. Woeppel worked there for 25 years, including three years after Mr. Woeppel retired. After retiring from the locker, the Woeppels did janitorial work for the Ericson State Bank.
Mrs. Woeppel was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 107 of Wheeler County and was president of the unit for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, making many crafts and belonging to the senior citizens group.
Survivors include her husband; one brother, Elmer Van Cleave of Zillah, Wash.; and two sisters, Norma Woeppel of Cedar Rapids and Vera Brown of Warden, Wash.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Merlin.
Doris Whitney
LINCOLN -- Doris R. Whitney, 80, of Lincoln, formerly of Fullerton, died June 29, 1999, in Lincoln.
Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fullerton Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
Helen Brush
Helen G. Brush, 88, of Grand Island, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Tiffany Square.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Volney Lofgreen will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Elvina Collins
SCOTIA -- Elvina Van Slyke Collins, 99, of Scotia died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Melanie Adams will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be before service time on Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotia Rescue Unit or to the Playground Equipment Fund at the Scotia Park.
Mrs. Collins was born on Nov. 5, 1900, six miles east of Ord in Springdale Township of Valley County to Chris and Emma (Hansen) Thomsen. She grew up on the family farm and was educated at the Springdale Rural School until the 11th grade. She graduated from Ord High School in 1920.
She married
Floyd Van Slyke on Feb. 21, 1923, at Ord. The couple lived on several farms north of Ord. Mr. Van Slyke died on Jan. 11, 1951. She remained on the farm until the fall of 1954, when she moved into Ord. She worked at the Cozy Nook and the Highway Café.
She married
Joseph Robert "Bob" Collins on July 5, 1958, at Hartington. The couple lived on various farms in Nebraska and then lived in Clarks. Mr. Collins died on July 24, 1971. Mrs. Collins remained in Clarks until October 1971, when she moved to Scotia.
She enjoyed yard work and gardening.
Survivors include one son, Ray Van Slyke of Scotia; one daughter, Laura Ann Merritt of Oregon City, Ore.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Emory, Harvey and James; and three sisters, Anne Thomsen, Pearl Cook and Amy Hansen.
