David Arellano
David Arellano, 75, of Grand Island, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at his home following a long illness.
Services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Yolanda Arceo officiating. Burial was in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation was from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Arellano was born April 20, 1925, at Wichita, Kan., to Thomas and Guadalupe (Marruffo) Arellano. He was raised and attended school in the North Platte area. He married
Ruth Moreno on June 25, 1950. He later married
Ofilia Avila on Sept. 27, 1997. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then the Burlington Northern Railroad before retiring in 1987.
He is a member of the Cristo La Roca Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ofilia; three sons, Frank Hill of Sarasota, Fla., David Arellano Jr. of Minden and John Arellano of Hastings; three daughters, Sandra Hill of Grand Island, Rose Waymire of Glenvil and Gloria Arellano of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, Joe Barrara of San Diego and Daniel Arellano, Richard Arellano and Bill Arellano, all of Omaha; and three sisters, Margaret Griffith of Omaha, Delores Boster of Bellevue and Betty Johnson of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Franco and Julia Solano; and one grandson.
Russell Dockhorn
ORD -- Russell Dockhorn, 80, of Ord died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the Sargent Nursing Center in Sargent.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ord Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Schauda officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Society of America or the Westcott Baptist Church.
Paul Cramer
NORFOLK, Va. -- Staff Sgt. Paul E. Cramer, 43, of Norfolk, Va., formerly of Dannenbrog, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, in a military plane crash near Unadilla, Ga.
Military memorial services for the victims of the crash were held at Rock Church in Virginia Beach, Va. Services were held March 13 for Mr. Cramer at the First Baptist Church of Norfolk, Va., with the Rev. Phillip Herring officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Cramer was born May 16, 1957, in Omaha to Henry E. and Esther Cramer. He attended Springfield schools and graduated from Centura High School in 1975. He attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha for one year, before joining the United States Navy in 1980, where he served 12 years. He served in the Persian Gulf War, leaving the Navy in 1992 as a petty officer first class and Electronic Warfare Technician.
In 1981, he married
Jamie Proffitt and continued residing in the Norfolk, Va., area. At the time of his death, he was serving in the Virginia Air National Guard, 203rd Red Horse Flight, as a heavy equipment operator.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Norfolk, Va., and an assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop No. 902.
Survivors include two sons, Benjamin and Isaac; one daughter, Sarah, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; his parents, Henry and Wilmadeen Cramer of Aurora; one sister, Ruth Ann (Mrs. David) Wyatt of Albion; and one brother, Mark Cramer of Owasso, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Cramer in 1981.
Caroline Johnson
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Caroline F. Johnson, 87, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Columbine West Care Center in Fort Collins after a long illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Stover St., Fort Collins.
Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or the Community Foundation Serving Northern Colorado.
Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 27, 1914, at Grand Island to Clayton T. and Amanda Etting Flower. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and received a bachelor of science in economics from the University of Colorado in 1936. She then returned to Stephens College as a counselor.
She married
Frank T. Johnson on Dec. 28, 1939, in Grand Island. In 1948, she moved to Fort Collins with her family from North Platte where her husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law purchased The State Dry Goods Co.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Delta Gamma Sorority, Chapter CO of PEO, several other women's groups and a charter member of the Fort Collins Country Club. She enjoyed being with her family, reading, needlepoint, traveling and entertaining.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Frank T. Johnson Jr. and Kent F. Johnson, both of Fort Collins, and Mark E. Johnson of Englewood, Colo.; one daughter, Cathy J. (Mrs. James) Maguire of Lakewood, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
Larry Keber
SPALDING -- Lawrence E. "Larry" Keber, 86, of Spalding died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at the Friendship Villa in Spalding.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Rev. Joe Hannappel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church with rosaries at 4:30 and 8 p.m.
Dolce Scheef Mortuary in Spalding is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Keber was born Sept. 10, 1914, to Clemens and Anna (Glaser) Keber at Primrose. In 1919, the Kebers moved to a farm west of Spalding which is still the family home. He attended country school and graduated from Spalding Academy in 1932.
After graduation, he worked for Anderson Ford and worked for a defense plant making B-24 bombers in California during the war. After the war, he returned to Spalding.
He married
Magdalene Neuroth on Sept. 6, 1948, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Beresford, S.D. They farmed on the family farm their entire married
life.
He was a member of St. Michael's Men's Club and a trustee of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the the St. John's Hospital Board and Spalding Rural Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Connie (Mrs. Bill) Patterson of Lincoln, Colette (Mrs. Marty) Shaw of Ceresco, Bernie Keber of Columbus, Rita (Mrs. Roger) Baumgart of Humphrey and Mary (Mrs. Howard) Christman of Kearney; two sons, Edmund of Spalding and Tom of Arlington; three sisters, Monica Bauer of Tucson, Ariz., Kathleen Jones of Omaha and Marguerite McQuade of Bellevue; two brothers, Herman of Spalding and Ray of Milwaukee, Wis.; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James; two brothers, Victor and Mark; one infant sister, Mildred, and one grandson..
Kimberly Meier
DONIPHAN -- Kimberly Jo Meier, 43, of Doniphan died Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Meier was born March 3, 1958, to Daryl and Joyce A. (Sundstrom) White at Grand Island. She attended Gates Elementary, Barr Junior High and Grand Island Senior High School where she graduated in1976. She attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Central Community College in Grand Island. She was currently enrolled in an accelerated nursing program and would have graduated in May with an associate's degree in nursing.
She married
Mitchell D. Meier on Sept. 3, 1977, at Grand Island, after which they lived on a farm outside of Doniphan. She taught dancing at Kim's School of Dance and was an LPN/scrub tech at the Grand Island Surgery Center.
She was very active with her children and with their school activities. She was head sponsor of Doniphan-Trumbull High School Cheerleading squad.
Survivors include her father, Daryl of Grand Island; three sons, Travis Meier of Grand Island, Tucker Meier of Lincoln, and Treat Meier of Doniphan; a daughter, Tandra Meier of Doniphan; a sister, Kellee Schwieger of Grand Island, and her grandmother, Edna Hansen of Doniphan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitch; her mother, and her grandfather, Floyd Sundstrom.
