'Pete' Horn
FULLERTON -- George "Pete" Horn, 79, of Fullerton died Sunday, March 18, 200, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Larry Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mr. Horn was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Nance County to Homer N. and Lillian (Johnson) Horn. He grew up in Nance County and attended District 6 school and Fullerton High School. He served in the U.S. Army during Word War II from 1942 through 1945.
He married
Donna J. Graves in Grand Island on Feb. 5, 1945.
After returning home from the service, Mr. Horn worked for the hardware store in Genoa before going to work for the Nebraska Department of Roads. He started farming in 1950.
In 1971, the Horns moved to Fullerton. Mr. Horn worked at Fullerton Farmers Co-op until 1972, when he retired. Mrs. Horn died on Feb. 24, 2001.
Mr. Horn was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 151. He was a past American Legion Post Commander, and membership chairman and district commander of the 40 & 8 Club. He was a member of the Legion Bingo Crew and VFW No. 5759.
He was a member of the Kemp Country Club, where he was secretary-treasurer, and a member of the FFA Alumni and Heritage Club. Mr. Horn also was a past Nance County commissioner and a member of the Nance County draft board.
His hobbies included golfing, bowling, collecting coins and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry of Fremont and Jim of Schuyler; a daughter, Connie (Mrs. Terry) Pachunka of Schuyler; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl of Grand Island and Homer of Fullerton; and two sisters, Donna (Mrs. Henry) Mate and Darlene (Mrs. Don) Bridger, both of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Ronald; and three sisters, Jean Stephens, Mayre Senske and Kathryn Horn.
Marilyn Jacobson
AURORA -- Marilyn Jacobson, 70, of Aurora died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. The Rev. Jerry Breese will officiate. Burial will be in the Clay Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Faith Community Church or Tabitha Hospice.
Mrs. Jacobson was born Aug. 26, 1930, north of Stockham to Harry and Matilda (Ochsner) Hunnell. She graduated from Sutton Public School and completed her teaching certificate in 1947. She taught grade school in Stockham and Saronville.
She married
Curtis L. Jacobson of rural Sutton in 1953. They lived and farmed north of Sutton until his death in 1981. She moved to Aurora in 1982, where she became an employee of First Federal Savings and Loan. She retired in 1994.
Mrs. Jacobson was a member of the Faith Community Church, where she was active in many church activities. She was also an active volunteer at the Plainsman Museum, the hospital and the hospital's thrift shop.
Survivors include two daughters, Lana (Mrs. Russ) Ebert of Sutton and Lori (Mrs. Ned) Tucker of Lincoln; a sister, Evelyn (Mrs. Elvin) Steier of Henderson; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; and infant son, Curtis Jr.
Cecil Jacquot
BROKEN BOW -- Cecil Jacquot, 87, of Broken Bow and formerly of Merna, died Monday, March 18, 2001, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Harvey Leith
SILVER CREEK -- Harvey R. Leith, 83, of Silver Creek died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Columbus Manor in Columbus.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, with the Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek and from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Leith was born Feb. 21, 1918, to William and Ever (Dickson) Leith. He grew up and attended schools in Silver Creek. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Nebraska, Idaho and Washington. He also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and as a farmhand in the Silver Creek area.
Survivors include three sisters, Adeline Lamb of Silver Creek, Mildred Richardson of Omaha and Dorothy (Mrs. William) Whitaker of Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Lester; and brother, Martin G. Leith.
Ruby Wolford
KEARNEY -- Ruby F. Wolford, 79, of Kearney died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Kearney, with the Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and until service time Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Good Samaritan Hospital Cancer Fund.
Mrs. Wolford was born Nov. 27, 1921, on a farm north of Grant to Earl W. and Laura (Larimer) Snyder. She moved to Kearney at age 3 and then to a farm east of Kearney in 1927. She attended Stone School and graduated from Kearney High School in 1939.
She married
Vincent Wolford on April 5, 1942, in Kearney. They farmed east of Kearney for 42 years, moving into Kearney in 1988.
Mrs. Wolford enjoyed being a homemaker, church activities, playing bridge and pinochle and entertaining family and friends.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kearney, served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was an officer and member of various committees. She also was a member of the East Lawn Kensington, volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital, was a 4-H leader for more than 20 years, served on the Buffalo County Extension Board and was a member of the Buffalo County Historical Society.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Janet (Mrs. Dale) Pohlmann of Ravenna; one son, Roger Wolford of Kearney; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Russel in 1987; a great-granddaughter; two sisters and two brothers.
Leonard Hulme Sr.
FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. -- Leonard L. Hulme Sr., 68, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., died Friday, March 16, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Hulme was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Britt, Iowa, to Thomas and Bernice (Sandquist) Hulme.
He married
Donna Niedfelt on June 5, 1955, in Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years; three sons, Thomas of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Timothy of Tempe, Ariz., and Leonard Jr. of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren; one brother, Thomas of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Irene Stuhr of York and Joann Schwartz of Los Altos, Calif.; and stepmother, Sybil Hulme of Sunnyville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one grandson.
