Richard Jones
BELLEVUE -- Richard L. Jones, 45, of Bellevue died Tuesday, March 13, 2001.
Private services will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Jones was cremated.
Mr. Jones was born on August 15, 1955, to Melroy and Virginia Jones of Ravenna.
Survivors include one daughter, Carrie (Mrs. Rob) Case of Omaha; one son, Eric of Omaha; five grandchildren; three brothers, Terry Banks of Alda, Larry Banks of Papillion and Allan Jones of Weeping Water; and two sisters, Debra (Mrs. Ben Jr.) Altman of LaVista and Ann Jones of Ravenna.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael; and one grandchild.
Clifford Rabe
HOLDREGE -- Clifford W. Rabe, 87, of Holdrege died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Wilcox with the Revs. James Mote and Warren and Jean Alnor officiating. Burial will be in Freewater cemetery in Wilcox with military rites by Wilcox American Legion Post No. 377.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Wilcox and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Wilcox United Methodist Building Fund.
Mr. Rabe was born May 17, 1913, at Dalton in the Weyerts Community to George Herman and Margaret Sarah (Jones) Rabe. He was baptized at Lodgepole, which was part of Weyerts Community, on August 24, 1913. He attended rural school near Dalton and high school at Sidney, graduating in 1931. He received his teacher's certificate from Chadron State Teachers College in 1933. He taught school for three years as well as attended college, receiving his bachelor of arts degree at Chadron in 1939.
He married
Hazel Munshaw on Feb. 18, 1939 at Harrisburg. They moved to Wilcox, where he taught and started the first high school band. Mrs. Rabe died on Dec. 3, 1940, after the birth and death of their son, Gary.
On June 17, 1942, Mr. Rabe was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Warren, Wyo. He attained the rank of staff sergeant with the 415th Infantry during World War II. He was honorably discharged at Fort Logan, Colo., on Jan. 26, 1946. He received the American Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his discharge, he returned to Wilcox, where he taught and became superintendent of schools. The school was destroyed in a fire in January 1949. Mr. Rabe helped rebuild the school.
He married
Louisa M. Woollen on August 20, 1950, in Wilcox. In 1952, he began farming. He purchased a farm between Wilcox and Holdrege in 1958. He remained on the farm until he semi-retired and moved to Holdrege in 1991.
He was a member of the Wilcox United Methodist Church, where he had served on the church board, was a member of Grace Lodge No. 226, A.F. & A.M. of Wilcox and later, the Jachin Lodge No. 146 A.F. & A.M. of Holdrege. He was also a past member of the Funk Board of Education, where he had served as president, past member of Lake Township Board in Phelps County, member of the Wilcox American Legion Post No. 377 and past member of Wilcox Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Louisa; one daughter, Jacque Reiser of Omaha; three sons, Scott of Jay Em, Wyo., Randy of Bertrand and Tim of Wilcox; one brother, Darrell of Chappell; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Other than his first wife and infant son, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lyle; and one sister, Norma Jean Stutzman.
Alex Moreno
Alex Adam Moreno, infant son of Alexander Moreno-Jovel and Priscilla Maese, died shortly after birth on Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at St. Francis.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Frances Figueroa will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Mike and Zergio; four sisters, Melissa, Jessica, Beronica and Anglica; maternal grandmother, Priscilla Ruiz of Grand Island and paternal grandfather, Miguel Angel-Jovel of El Salvador.
'Hank' Dawson
LOUP CITY -- Merton N. "Hank" Dawson, 94, of Loup City died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dawson was born June 12, 1904, at Clay Center to Tom and Florence (DeVaughn) Dawson. As a small child he moved with his family to Harvard and attended rural schools in the Harvard area. In 1920, he moved to the Cody-Kilgore area where he worked on the family ranch. In 1936 he moved to Milwaukee, and later lived in Omaha, Wichita, Kan. and San Antonio, Texas where he drove a truck and during the war built B-29 airplanes, including the Enola Gay.
He married
Jessie L. Lemanchik on Aug. 4, 1949, at Milwaukee. The couple lived in various communities including Wichita, Omaha, Kansas City and Blockton, Iowa. They moved to a farm west of Loup City in 1977. Mrs. Dawson died Mary 12, 1996, and he continued to live on the farm with his son.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Tom of Loup City; one daughter, Jan (Mrs. Steve) Spencer of Loup City; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Howard Kunselman of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one sister, Grace Bauman of Denver.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lyle, Jack, Glenn and Bill Kunselman.
Gale Hadenfeldt
KENESAW -- Gayle E. Hadenfeldt, 63, of Kenesaw, died Wednesday, June 2, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church at Kenesaw. The Rev. Paul Duffy will officiate. Burial will be at the Kenesaw Cemetery.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Mr. Hadenfeldt was born Jan. 20, 1936 at Kenesaw to Edwin and Katie Marie (Ahrens) Hadenfeldt. He was a 1953 graduate of Kenesaw High School.
He married
Joyce A. Riese on June 12, 1955 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church at Holstein. They lived in Kenesaw when he and Bill Nabower owned the Kenesaw Mobil Gas Station in the early 60's. In 1967 he went to work for Turner Grain and later Davis Equipment in Grand Island. In 1980 he was co-founder of Heartland Agri Supply in Grand Island, where he continued to work part-time until his death.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church at Kenesaw.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ronda (Mrs. Kim) Ehly of Kenesaw and Conda (Mrs. Mike) Quackenbush of Kenesaw; one sister, Ellen (Mrs. Bill) Nabower of Kenesaw; one brother, Myron of Hastings; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Edwin Maricle
NEWMAN GROVE -- Edwin Maricle, 87, of Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home at Newman Grove, formerly of Albion, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Albion. The Rev. Lester Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Boone cemetery with graveside services conducted by the Masonic Lodge No. 78 A.F. and A.M.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Levander Funeral home in Albion.
