Dorothy Tooman
LOMA LINDA, CALIF. -- Dorothy Tooman, 75, of Loma Linda, Calif., died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at the Ray Court Retirement Center in Loma Linda.
Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.
Local survivors include a brother, Elmer Stelk of Grand Island; and a sister, Evelyn (Mrs. Clifford) Starkey of Grand Island.
Larry Anderson
Lawrence J. "Larry" Anderson, 84, of Grand Island died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Lakeview Nursing Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Patrick Grindoll will officiate. Inurnment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Anderson was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Anderson was born on Nov. 13, 1916, on a farm north of Osceola to Arvid and Katherine (Zimmerman) Anderson. He was educated in the Osceola public schools.
Mr. Anderson was inducted into the armed forces in 1942 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater with the 810th MP in Honolulu. He was honorably discharged in 1943 at Camp Cooke, Calif.
He married
Lillian M. Wagner on Feb. 4, 1946, in Lincoln. They lived in Osceola, where he worked for IGA Food Center. In 1950, they moved to Grand Island, where he worked for 16 years as a meat cutter and cook at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He worked at Third City Wholesale for eight years. He retired in 1979. Mrs. Anderson died in 1997.
Mr. Anderson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, NARFE, Veterans of Foreign Wars and AARP.
Survivors include one son, Roger W. Anderson of Grand Island; one daughter, Peggy (Mrs. Donald) Young of Omaha; one grandson; and one brother, Donald Anderson of Vinton, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy McKeag.
Donald McDannel
Donald W. McDannel, 72, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at the Skilled Care Unit of St. Francis Memorial Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The family will greet friends during visiting hours.
A memorial is suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. McDannel was born June 13, 1928, at Aurora to A.A. "Bud" and Naomi Fay (Hodgson) McDannel. He grew up in Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School in 1945. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for one year before entering the United States Army where he served from Sept. 1946 until his discharge on Dec. 1947. He served as a criminal investigator during the occupation in Japan.
Upon his discharge, he returned to the family farm near Phillips. He then worked at the bank in Aurora and later at a loan company in Grand Island.
He married
Caroline Brummund on August 26, 1951, at St. Pauls English Lutheran Church in Grand Island. He received his real estate license and worked at the Lacy Real Estate Firm. In 1955, he formed the McDannel Real Estate and Insurance Company in which he was active the rest of his life.
Mr. McDannel was a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers where he served on the Admission, Education and Ethics Committees. He served as president of the North Central Region in 1979 to 1980, and taught appraisal classes throughout the United States. He served as commissioner on the Nebraska Real Estate Commission from 1986 to 1992. He also taught real estate classes.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church where he served as council chairman, helped form the church foundation and served as a communion deacon. He was also a member of American Legion Post 42 of Aurora, Masonic Lodge #318 of Grand Island, Eastern Star, Knights Temple, Tehama Shrine, Royal Arch, V.F.W. of Grand Island, B.P.O. Elks of Grand Island, Liederkranz, Platt-Duetsch Society, Riverside Golf Club, Cosmopolitan Club, Saddle Club, Grand Island Board of Realtors and a member of Presidents Club of the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Lincoln and Kurt of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Monty Lynn.
Dorothy Prorock
Dorothy Ann Prorock, 80, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. Prorock was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or the Senior Citizens Industries Adult Day Care Center.
Mrs. Prorock was born on Sept. 8, 1920, at Omaha to Joseph and Martha (Swetala) Krakowski. She attended school in Omaha and worked for Miller Cereal Mills.
She married
Arnold C. Prorock on June 30, 1947. They lived in Grand Island, where she worked at St. Francis Medical Center until 1972. They moved to Albion and returned to Grand Island in 1989. Mr. Prorock died in 1994.
Mrs. Prorock enjoyed playing bingo and reading. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Mary's Altar Society.
Survivors include one son, Rocky Prorock of Grand Island; one daughter, Sherri Claussen of Grand Island; and four grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Krakowski; and two sisters, Loretta Hrabik and Sylvia Johnston.
Ruth Metzer
SILVER CREEK -- Ruth A. Metzer, 104, of Silver Creek died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at the Columbus Manor in Columbus.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Bev Minor will officiate. Burial will be at the Silver Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Metzer was born March 8, 1896, at West Valia, Kan., to Elin and Mary (Johnson) Hinkle. She was raised in Kansas and attended country school and moved to Nebraska in 1917. She did domestic work at various jobs.
She married
Malin Metzer on June 2, 1920, in Denver. They moved to Wyoming where they both worked for Union Pacific Railroad. They returned to Silver Creek in 1955. She went to mechanic school and assisted her husband with the family farm until retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Metzer was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, Ladies Aid, cemetery Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Bowling League and AARP.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Helen Hinkle of Silver Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers; and two sisters.
Thomas Sack
LINCOLN -- Thomas M. Sack, 48, of Lincoln died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 in Cartersville, Ga.
Services are pending at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
