Grace Van Winkle
WOOD RIVER -- Grace E. Van Winkle, 87, of Wood River died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services are pending with Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River.

Rev. Dennis Woodward
CALLAWAY -- The Rev. William Dennis Woodward, 57, of Callaway died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at his home in Callaway.
Rev. Woodward was cremated. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Callaway. The Revs. Jim McChesney and Ron Croom will officiate.
Memorials have been established to the Callaway Hospice, the Callaway Community Center and the University of Iowa.
Rev. Woodward was born Oct. 2, 1942, at Marshalltown, Iowa, to W. Russell and Cora (Houghton) Woodward. He graduated from high school in Albion, Iowa, in 1960. Rev. Woodward graduated from Marshalltown Junior College in 1962, and earned his B.S. in Dairy Science from Iowa State University.
He then worked in farm and agriculture sales in Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Missouri.
He attended St. Paul's School of theology in Kansas City, graduating in 1990 with a Masters of Divinity.
In 1995, he married
Lois Lois Oba at Madison. He ministered in Douglas, Burr, Plyouth, Daykin, Mitchell and Hull and in July 1999 he moved to Callaway from Mitchell. He pastored at the Methodist Churches at Callaway and Morning Star.
Rev. Woodward was involved with the Callaway Hospice and was a member of the Callaway Senior Citizens Board.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, W. Mark of Cincinnati, Ohio, Monty of Lincoln, Kevin of Gering and Darin of West Des Moines, Iowa; his father, W. Russell Woodward of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and his parents-in-law, Dr. Calvin and Mary Oba of Scottsbluff.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Larry Colson
LINCOLN -- Larry W. Colson, 48, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Metcalf Funeral Home. Mr. Colson's body will be cremated. There will be no visitation.
Mr. Colson was born May 8, 1952 in Los Angeles.
Survivors include three sons, Calvin of Iowa, Larry of Aurora, Colo. and Justice of Grand Island; one daughter, Jacqueline Fader of Papillion; and one brother, Calvin of Oregon.
Eda Jones
Eda M. Jones, 94, of Grand Island died Aug. 18, 1999, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Mrs. Jones was cremated. Graveside services will be at a later date at the Geneva Cemetery. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Peace Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 4, 1904, to August and Gesine (Lammers) Muchow at Bluehill. She graduated from Blue Hill High School.
She married
to Art Jones. She was a housewife and spent six years with the Ringling Brothers Circus. After retirement the couple lived in Buffalo, Mo. Mr. Jones preceded her in death in December 1986.
She enjoyed traveling. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews and her guardian, Rupert Naber of Grand Island.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by nine brothers, August, William, Fred, Walter, Henry, Paul, Otto, Edward and Carl and six sisters, Bertha, Dorothy, Anna, Augusta, Adeline and Ottilie.
Gerald Langan
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Gerald "Jerry" Leo Langan, 62, of Cedar Rapids was found dead Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at the family farm southwest of Cedar Rapids.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military rites conducted by Dan Cox American Legion Post 44 of Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Langan was born on June 30, 1937, at Cedar Rapids to James H. and Margaret (Gordon) Langan. He was educated in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1955.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1961.
He married
Renate Froehlich on April 15, 1962, in Omaha. They lived in Omaha for five years. He worked for a meatpacking plant and then for the railroad for a short time. They then moved to Cedar Rapids, where he farmed with his father.
Mr. Langan was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Dan Cox American Legion Post 44, both of Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Marian Langan of Lincoln, Karen Langan of Chicago, Randy Langan of Cedar Rapids and Renee Langan and Jackie Langan, both of Lincoln; two grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Langan of Atkinson and Pat Langan of Phoenix; and one sister, Mary Jane Gilroy of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel; and one sister, Noreen Barker.
Eben Scott
BROKEN BOW -- Eben Scott, 82, of Broken Bow died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Doug Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Scott was born on Sept. 24, 1916, near Sargent to Samuel and Mary Edna (Wooters) Scott. He grew up in the Dry Valley area in Custer County and attended a country school.
Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy from 1942 to 1945.
He married
Esther McCaslin on Sept. 1, 1945. They lived in the Rose Valley community in Custer County for 53 years. Mr. Scott farmed and was a carpenter. He built many homes in Central Nebraska.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, where he received his 50-year-pin in 1999. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and building things with wood.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Monica (Mrs. Bob) Harvey of Stapleton; two sons, Raymond Scott of Marlin, Texas, and Harold Scott of Bellevue; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Scott of Broken Bow and Sam Scott of Sargent; and two sisters, Avis (Mrs. Mike) Guggenmos of Ogallala and Guyneth (Mrs. Lysle) Orvis of Broken Bow.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Stone and Elaine Allison; and one brother, John Scott.
