Rita Lonergan
OMAHA -- Rita M. Lonergan, 66, of Omaha died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Omaha.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Omaha. Burial will be in Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Omaha.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home in Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Survivors include her husband, James; two sons, Patrick of Grand Island and Timothy of Omaha; a daughter, Miriam "Mimi" Lonergan of Omaha; and nine grandchildren.
Jeffrey Tank
LINCOLN -- Jeffrey Allen Tank, 34, of Lincoln died Sunday, March 26, 2000.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be no visitation the day of the service.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Tank was born on Feb. 1, 1966, in Grand Island to Gary and Judy (Deuel) Tank.
He worked as an electrician for Sentry Electric.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
Survivors include his wife, Jamie Tank of Lincoln; a stepson, Austin Dreith of Lincoln; his parents, of Grand Island; two brothers, Robert of Franklin and Douglas of Wood River; and one sister, Kim (Mrs. Jeff) Mihm of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Berdine Tank and Glen and Neva Deuel.
David Arellano
David Arellano, 75, of Grand Island, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at his home following a long illness.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Yolanda Arceo officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Arellano was born April 20, 1925, at Wichita, Kan., to Thomas and Guadalupe (Marruffo) Arellano. He was raised and attended school in the North Platte area. He married
Ruth Moreno on June 25, 1950. He later married
Ofilia Avila on Sept. 27, 1997. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and then the Burlington Northern Railroad before retiring in 1987.
He is a member of the Cristo La Roca Assembly of Good Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ofilia; three sons, Frank Hill of Sarasota, Fla., David Arellano Jr. of Minden and John Arellano of Hastings; three daughters, Sandra Hill of Grand Island, Rose Waymire of Glenvil and Gloria Arellano of Omaha; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, Joe Barrara of San Diego and Daniel Arellano, Richard Arellano and Bill Arellano, all of Omaha; and three sisters, Margaret Griffith of Omaha, Delores Boster of Bellevue and Betty Johnson of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Franco and Julia Solano.
Ruth Adams
LOUP CITY -- Ruth Adams, 91, of Loup City died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at the Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City.
Services are pending with Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City.
George 'Pete' Horn
FULLERTON -- George "Pete" Horn, 79, of Fullerton died Sunday, March 8, 2001, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services are pending at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Elvera Johnson
STROMSBURG -- Elvera B. Johnson, 87, of Stromsburg died Friday, March 16, 2001, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg with the Rev. Bob Johnson officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born March 30, 1913, northeast of Hordville in Hamilton County to Axel and Augusta (Lindahl) Flodman. She attended the country school near Hordville and graduated from Hordville High School. As a young woman, she was a member of the Friedham Lutheran Church.
She married
Wilmer Elner Johnson on Oct. 19, 1937, in Denver. The family lived west of Stromsburg, where they farmed. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Polk. Mrs. Johnson worked at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg from the early 1960s to the early 1970s.
She and her husband retired in 1983 and moved to Stromsburg. They moved to Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg in April 1999. Mr. Johnson died April 10, 2000.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed quilting. She attend the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg for the past 16 years.
Survivors include four sons, Duane of Lincoln, Ronald of Piqua, Ohio, and Gary and Steven, both of Lincoln; a daughter, Cheryl (Mrs. Gary) Wheeler of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Flodman of Central City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant brother and a half sister, Pearl Fusby.
Elsie Schamp
ORD -- Elsie V. Schamp, 78, of Ord died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Schamp was born May 4, 1922, at Idalia, Colo., to Henry and Matilda (Weigle) Hoskins.
She married
Joseph Schamp on Nov. 4, 1937, in Bartlett. They farmed most of their life in the Spalding, Burwell and Ord areas. Mrs. Schamp was a long-time employee of Valley County Hospital in Ord and Mt. Caramel in Kearney.
Mr. Schamp died Sept. 20, 1993.
Survivors include two sons, David Schamp of Dover, Del., and Benny Schamp of Ord; two daughters, Irene Schamp of Elyria and Suzzanne Schamp of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sara Riebschlager of Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Art Loper of Payette, Idaho, and Howard Hoskins of Ord; and two grandsons.
