'Lucy' Garcia
Luciana "Lucy" G. Garcia, 57, of Grand Island died Friday, March 3, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Curran Funeral Chapel with a scripture rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Phyllis Goettsch
Phyllis J. Goettsch, 72, of Grand Island died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Reich will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
'Ruth' Mack
ALDA -- Alice "Ruth" Mack, 76, of Alda died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 4 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested in her name.
Mrs. Mack was born Jan. 28, 1925, to John W. and Ada (Lamb) Egan in Albion. She grew up and was educated in the Albion area, graduating from Albion High School. As a young child she worked at Hall's Ranch, Boone County.
She married
George Harold Mack Jr. on Feb. 28, 1943, in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island, where she worked at the Ordnance Plant, Harwager's Poultry Farm and the Nebraska Veterans Home. She also worked at Redman's Homes assembling cabinetry and also at Albee Printing. Mr. Mack died on August 4, 1976.
She was associated for many years with her family and friends at the Almosa Bar. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Her hobbies included scratch cards, baseball, Fonner Park races and making enchiladas.
Survivors include three daughters, Georgene Miller and Helen (Mrs. Kurtis) Simons, both of Grand Island and Paddi Mack of Alda; three sons, Michael of Archer, William of Marquette and Mark of Alda; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Rose Marie Tamo of Eureka, Calif., and Margaret Whitted of Lebanon, Ore.; and one brother, Thomas Egan of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, one brother and one sister.
Lloyd Reasland
ROCKVILLE -- Lloyd Reasland, 80, of Rockville died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna. The Rev. Gary Karoly will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna.
There will be no visitation. Rasmussen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Reasland was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Sherman County to Charles and Mary (Burton) Reasland. He was educated in a rural school.
He made his home on a farm south of Rockville all of his life.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Harvey of Phillips.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
'Pete' Shiers
GIBBON -- Floyd "Pete" Shiers, 91, of Gibbon died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Gibbon Faith United Church. The Rev. Barbara Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon and prior to services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon Emergency Unit, the Heart Fund or the Multiple Sclerosis Fund.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Jean Wickstrom
ALBION-- Jean Pauline Wickstrom, 68, of Albion, formerly of Oshkosh, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Oshkosh. The Rev. Lynn Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial cemetery in Rockford, Ill., at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Wickstrom was born on Oct. 31, 1932, in West Frankfort, Ill. to Elmer (Dutch) Brenner and Dorothy Lidster. She attended Rockford Public Schools.
She married
Walter Owen Hansel on Nov. 5, 1949 at Rockford. They moved to Oshkosh in 1974. She has lived in Albion since January 2000, due to illness.
She was a member of the Albion Bible Church.
Survivors include two sons, Gilbert "Butch" Hansel of Oshkosh and Jim Hansel of Albion; one daughter, Marlene (Mrs. John) Long of Oshkosh; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Florence Richmond of Winter Haven, Fla., and Shirley Duchaj of Florida.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Davis.
Dorathea Glinsmann
Dorathea C.E. Glinsmann, 86, of Grand Island died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.
Mrs. Glinsmann was born March 14, 1914, at Ashton to Christian and Sophia (Heins) Knoepfel. She attended District 26 School in Sherman County. Following her schooling, she helped on the family farm.
She married
John Elshof on May 25, 1933, in Ashton. They farmed in Sherman County. They later moved to Loup City where she worked at Oltman's Cafe. They moved to Ord in 1952 and she ran her own restaurant until moving to Grand Island in 1954.
In Grand Island, she worked in the food service department of St. Francis Hospital and then Bauman Nursing Home. She then sold Avon products.
Her husband died on July 4, 1961, and she married
Emil Glinsmann on Oct. 3, 1981, at Loup City. He died on Nov. 4, 1993.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ruth Society and the Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting and quilting.
Survivors include three sons, Alden Elshof of Longmont, Colo., Edward Elshof of Windsor, Colo. and Kenneth Elshof of Grand Island; three daughters, Goldie Hansen of Ord, Leanna Husman of Grand Island and Nadeen Debban of Hastings; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Kyhn of Longmont, Colo.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, John Elshof; and an infant brother, Christian Albert Knoepfel.
