Arlyn Masten
Arlyn Masten, 74, of Grand Island died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the St. Francis Memorial Health Center of Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday with a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Francis Hospice.
Mrs. Masten was born on March 21, 1926, in Grand Island to George and Winifred (Brown) Clark. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1944. After graduation she worked for Wally Kemp at the Grand and Capitol Theaters. She later worked at the Air Base and Jack Bailey Studio.
She married
Ronald Masten on March 7, 1948, in Grand Island, where they continued to live. She worked for the Credit Bureau for some time and in 1970 began working for the Grand Island Daily Independent. She retired in 1988.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ruth Society, Lutheran Laymen League, the Grand Island Little Theatre and the Grand Island Concert Series.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, painting and reading.
Survivors include one son, Richard of Grand Island; one daughter, Kristine (Mrs. Jack) Loescher, of Grand Island; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and two sons, Michael and Rand.
George Radil
ORD -- George Radil, 80, of Ord died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ord Memorial Chapel with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Valley County Nursing Home.
'Jackie' Rezac
GRANT -- Jaqueline "Jackie" Rezac, 71, of Grant died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. The Rev. Joe Stelle will officiate. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
A memorial has been established.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rezac was born March 30, 1929, in Ouray, Colo., to Frank and Edna (Hestwood) Charles. She graduated in 1947 from Ridgway High School and later graduated from the University of Colorado School of Nursing with a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
She married
Vern Rezac on Aug. 17, 1957, in Stratton, Colo. They lived briefly in Julesburg and Holyoke before moving to Grant in 1959. She worked as an RN for the hospital for more than 35 years before her retirement in 1998.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Scott of Grand Island, and Jeff and Doug, both of Kearney; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (Mrs. Dave) Larkin of Buffalo, Wyo., and Francine (Mrs. Bill) Missildine of Springville, Ala.; and one brother, Frank of Baggs, Wyo.
Edmund Balasa
FULLERTON-- Edmund F. Balasa, 85, of Fullerton died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Genoa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a scripture and rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
Rosie Greenstreet
SARGENT -- Rosie E. Greenstreet, 95, of Sargent died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Sargent Health Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Mark Christ will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Bernard Berger.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Sargent Methodist Church or the Sargent Ambulance Fund.
Mrs. Greenstreet was born Oct. 22, 1905, at Sargent to Frank and Jessie (Young) Griebel. She attended rural country school and Sargent High School, graduating in 1925. She attended college at Kearney for two years and taught school at West Union and Cummings Park.
She married
Mace Greenstreet on March 16, 1928, at Broken Bow. The couple lived on several farms in the Walworth community until 1954, when they moved in to Sargent, where she cared for her mother.
She was a member of the Sargent United Methodist Church, Walworth Ladies Aid, extension club, United Methodist Women, Ladies Kensington and the bridge club.
She worked at the Dairy Sweet in Sargent for several years.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita (Mrs. Frank) Beran of Sargent; two grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, Earl and Ervin Griebel.
John Kinish
KEARNEY-- John T. Kinish, 92, of Kearney, formerly of Anselmo, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
'Dan' Wagner
Danny "Dan" L. Wagner, 36, of Grand Island, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Following the service, Mr. Wagner's body will be cremated, and burial of the cremains will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Wagner was born Jan. 8, 1965, in Omaha to Dix and Jean (Shanks) Wagner. He lived in Omaha until he was 5 years old and then moved to Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1983.
He worked at New Holland for the past seven years.
He married
Cheryl Schwieger on Oct. 28, 2000, in Grand Island.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and model railroading. He was a member of the Izaak Walton Foundation.
Survivors include his wife; parents; one brother, Lee Wagner of Grand Island; one sister, Kimberly Wagner of St. Joe, Miss.; and one maternal grandmother, Marie W. Shanks of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Paul Shanks; and his paternal grandparents, Phillip and Mary Wagner.
