'Lucille' Robinson
KENESAW -- Ida "Lucille" Robinson, 89, of Kenesaw, formerly of Prosser, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at the Haven Home in Kenesaw.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brand-Wilson Chapel in Hastings. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
Edith Scott
BROKEN BOW -- Edith Scott, 92, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Revs. LeRoy Sanford and Alfred Broady will officiate. Burial will be in the Dry Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Mrs. Scott was born on May 22, 1908, at Duff to David D. and Pearl (Ogden) James.
She married
Robert P. Scott on Feb. 5, 1937, in Burwell. They farmed in various communities and lived for several years in the Cummings Park area northwest of Sargent. They later moved to Iowa, where they lived near Kellerton. They returned to Broken Bow 13 years ago. Mr. Scott died in June 2000.
Survivors include one niece, Judy Gruber of Sargent; one nephew, Richard James of Issaquah, Wash.; one brother-in-law, Samuel Scott of Broken Bow; and two sisters-in-law, Avis Guggenmos of Ogallala and Guyneth Orvis of Broken Bow.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
George Svoboda
KEARNEY -- George L. Svoboda, 62, of Kearney died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Life Assembly Church in Kearney. The Revs. Bob Wine and Roger Wendt will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be before services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon and Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Svoboda was born on Oct. 31, 1938, in Ord to Charles and Louise (Puncochar) Svoboda. He grew up and was educated in Ord.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and served in the Airborne Division. He then served 24 years in the Army National Guard.
He married
Deanne Russell on Aug. 11, 1956, in Kearney. The couple lived in several Central Nebraska towns. He served as a police officer in Ord before joining the Shelton police force in 1969. He retired from the Shelton police in May 1999 due to ill health and moved to Kearney.
He was a member of New Life Assembly Church and was inducted into the Nebraska Police Officers Hall of Fame.
Survivors include three sons, Rock of Omaha, Russ of Abingdon, Va. and Rod of Kearney; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Leroy of Litchfield and Charles of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by infant twin brothers and two sisters.
Joseph Schmitz
WHEATLAND, Mo. -- Joseph V. Schmitz, 78, of Wheatland, Mo., formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Bernard Tryba
JACKSON, Ga.-- Bernard L. Tryba, 71, of Jackson, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, from cancer.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hapeville, Ga.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation Society of the South is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta.
Mr. Tryba was born in Loup City and lived in Grand Island. He was widowed. He retired from Lithonia Lighting and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Lewis, Diane Salmon and Susan Tate; one son, Mike Tarleton; grandchildren; and two brothers, Leon Tryba and John Schulte.
Leonard Grabowski
Leonard Grabowski, 80, of Grand Island died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Grabowski was born on Nov. 3, 1920, at Ashton to Jacob J. and Anna (Woitalewicz) Grabowski. He grew up and was educated in the Ashton area.
He married
Irene K. Fredrick on July 11, 1942, at Omaha. They lived in Omaha. He entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 1, 1942, at Fort Crook, Neb. He was sent to Germany and was discharged on Dec. 1, 1945, at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He received mechanic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and in England. After his discharge, they lived in Omaha. They also lived in Ashton, Loup City, St. Libory and Central City, where he farmed. They moved to Grand Island. He began working for New Holland in 1965 and retired in 1985.
He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, the Eagles and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, playing cards and shooting pool. He loved to tinker with old machinery and tools and could get them in working condition. He liked to make artwork out of old iron.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Gerri Kelley of Chapman, Jeanette Muhs of North Platte and Kathy Goosic of Grand Island; one son, Ronald Grabowski of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Blanche (Mrs. Vince) Skarniak of Grand Island; and one brother, Ted Grabowski of Delta, Colo.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd; and one sister, Veronica.
K. Harlan Hunt
LOUP CITY -- K. Harlan Hunt, 78, of Loup City died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in a car accident south of Loup City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with the Rev. Heidi Revelo officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Mr. Hunt was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Loup City emergency medical technicians.
