Daniel Corral
ENTERPRISE, Kan. -- Daniel R. Corral, 43, of Enterprise, Kan., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Enterprise United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery with military honors.
Memorials are suggested to the Corral Children's Education Fund in care of the church.
Danner Funeral Home in Abilene, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Corral was born on Oct. 5, 1956, in Georgia to Ignacio and Beverly (Olsen) Corral. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a professional chef.
He married
Carrol Small on Sept. 26, 1992, in Topeka, Kan. The couple had lived in Enterprise since 1996.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christina Corral of Grand Island and Cherrika Corral of Enterprise, Kan.; four sons, Daniel R. Corral Jr. of Grand Island, Anthony Corral of Enterprise, Kan., and Derek Corral and Sam Corral, both of Clay Center, Kan.; his mother, Beverly Bowker of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Shyla Cardenis of Junction City, Kan., and Tami Ring of Bull Head City, Nev.
Luke Mader
GARNETT, Kan. -- Luke W. Mader, 85, of Garnett, Kan., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000.
Services were on Friday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett with the Rev. George Matz officiating. Burial was in Holy Angels cemetery in Garnett.
Mr. Mader was born on July 25, 1914, on the family farm west of Garnett to Henry and Katherine (Feuerborn) Mader. He attended Cedar Point School and Garnett High School. He worked on the family farm until 1933, when he took a job as a projectionist at the Peoples Theater in Garnett.
In the late 1930s, Mr. Mader and his brother left the Garnett area and settled in Southern California, where Mr. Mader worked at Lockheed Aircraft.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1941 and served with the 3rd Infantry Division during World War II. He served in the European theater and took part in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Anzio and southern France. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant.
He married
Marcella A. Brummel on May 22, 1945, in Portland, Ore., where the couple lived. Mr. Mader and two of his brothers started the 42nd Street Garage. He also worked for an auto parts retailing firm.
In 1955, Mr. Mader and his family moved to Caņon City, Colo., where they lived for 35 years. He worked as a sales representative for Duro-Test Lighting Corp. until his retirement.
In 1990, Mr. Mader returned to Garnett, where he was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6397.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Mader of Grand Island and Doug Mader of Garnett, Kan.; two grandchildren; a brother, Claire Mader of Garnett; and a sister, Kathryn Brummel of Garnett.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Mark, Frank, Walt and Robert.
Kathy Ott
ANA COCO, La. -- Kathy Denise Lemburg Ott, 26, of Ana Coco, La., formerly of Wood River, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at DeRidder, La., of complications of the flu.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Larry Lepper will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery at Ravenna.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1973, at St. Paul to Jerry and Kristi (Bohn) Lemburg. She was educated at Wood River, graduating from high school in 1991. She lived in the Wood River area. She later moved to Ana Coco, La.
Survivors include her husband, Dirk Ott; two sons, Tristan and Payton Ott of Ana Coco; one daughter, Haylea of Ana Coco; her parents, of Wood River; and her paternal grandparents, Charlie and Phyllis Lemburg of Dannebrog.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Adolph and Wilma Bohn.
Joyce Entrekin
Joyce Entrekin, 67, of Grand Island, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Third City Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Entrekin was born Aug. 17, 1937, at Scottsbluff to Delton M. and Hazel D. (Reynolds) Briggs. She was educated in Scottsbluff schools and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952. She attended Boise Bible College in Boise, Idaho, and Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn.
She married
R. Dean Entrekin on June 20, 1955, at the Central Church of Christ in Gering. She served with her husband in Christian ministry, taught Bible school, assisted in women's activities, and coached youth in Bible Bowl programs.
She was a member of Third City Christian Church, the Young At Heart group at the church and also a member of the First Christian Church in Central City. She enjoyed working crafts, cooking and playing cards with friends until her recent illness.
Survivors include her husband of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Warren Micale of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and JoAnn Entrekin of Belleville, Ill., and Kalon and Cheryl Entrekin of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Briggs of Scottsbluff.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Crossman.
'Nadine' Overturf
Catherine 'Nadine' Overturf, 91, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Adams.
Graveside services will be at a later date. The Rev. Del Roper of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Miss Overturf will be cremated.
Roper and Sons Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island.
She was born on June 6, 1910, at Ong to Allen and Louisa Jane (Bishop) Overturf.
Miss Overturf was a church organist at Trinity United Methodist Church, St. Pauls Lutheran Church and First Baptist Church, all in Grand Island, for 50 years. She also worked as a secretary for eight years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island, Women's Church Service and Chapter E.H., P.E.O.
Survivors include a sister, Denice L. Geddes of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie and Margaret Overturf, and two brothers, Wayne and Wendell Overturf.
Bridget Pohl
Bridget M. Pohl, 89, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Mrs. Pohl was born on May 14, 1912, at Abie to Joseph and Pauline (Rurcha) Hinesh. She grew up in the Bruno and Appleton areas before moving with her family to Doniphan. She graduated from Doniphan High School in 1930.
She married
Edward T. Pohl on June 13, 1933, in Central City. They farmed near Chapman until Mr. Pohl's death in 1971. Mrs. Pohl then moved to Grand Island.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish, St. Mary's Altar Society and Luncheon Club. She enjoyed embroidery and sewing.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Sonja Pohl of Elkhorn and James and Carol Pohl of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beatrice Rhodes of Trumbull and Ida Nowka of Hastings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; two brothers, Ernest and Edwin Hinesh; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Pohl of Schuyler.
