Bess Price
ST. EDWARD -- Bess E. Price, 100, of St. Edward died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward. The Rev. Tom Henstock will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery in St. Edward.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Mrs. Price was born Jan. 10, 1901, on a farm east of Richland to Jacob and Mary (Hamata) Novotny. She moved with her parents to the St. Edward area in 1905. She received her elementary education in Boone County School District 5 northwest of St. Edward. She graduated from St. Edward High School in 1919.
She married
George Price on Oct. 6, 1920, at her parent's home northwest of St. Edward. The couple lived and farmed northeast of St. Edward until they retired in 1956 and moved to town. Mrs. Price worked as a housewife and homemaker. She also worked two years in Dr. McGee's office, worked seven years at Thompson Nursing Home and a short time at Cloverlodge Nursing Home.
She was a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church of St. Edward. She was a member of the United Methodist-Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Cloverleaf Club and the Household Extension Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Krumland of St. Charles, Mo., a son, Robert Price of Kingman, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1986; a daughter, Betty Kroeger, in 1976; one great-grandchild; and a son-in-law, Harold Krumland, in 1986.
Evelyn Rasmussen
ST. PAUL -- Evelyn D. Rasmussen, 86, of St. Paul, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Thomas G. Hyde will officiate. Burial will be in the Cotesfield cemetery at Cotesfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in St. Paul.
Mrs. Rasmussen was born Dec. 6, 1914, to Andrew and Carrie (Skow) Townsend on the family farm in the Fairdale area north of St. Paul. She attended rural school north of St. Paul and St. Paul High School, where she graduated in 1932.
She married
Allen Rasmussen on Aug. 4, 1941, at St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm in the Cotesfield area all their married
life. During her marriage, Mrs. Rasmussen taught rural school in the Dannevirke, Davis Creek, Cotesfield, Elba and St. Paul areas. She also taught in the Elba Public and Cotesfield Public schools.
Mr. Rasmussen died Jan. 20, 1985. Mrs. Rasmussen continued to live on the farm until June 1985, when she moved to St. Paul. She taught school one more year in Cotesfield before retiring.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of St. Paul, the United Methodist Church Women, Danish Brotherhood No. 211 of Grand Island, Carl Mogensen American Legion Post No. 119 of St. Paul and a card club member. She was a volunteer at the Howard County Community Hospital and the Heritage Living Center.
Mrs. Rasmussen enjoyed playing cards, embroidery work, canning, cooking, sewing and solving rummy kube. She enjoyed sports, especially attending her grandchildren's sport events.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Rudolf of St. Paul; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Charlotte of Elba, Robert and Francine of Cotesfield and Randy and Karen of West Port, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Darold and Ella Mae Townsend of St. Paul, Warren and Marjorie Townsend of St. Paul and Howard and Fay Townsend of Corning, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter; a brother, Marvin; and an infant brother, Orville.
Alvina Struempler
WESTERVILLE -- Alvina W. Struempler, 95, of Westerville died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Westerville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church in the Buffalo community south of Oconto. The Rev. Edwin Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.
Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Mrs. Struempler was born July 17, 1906, in the German Valley community north of Brewster to Henry and Mollie (Kaiser) Jochem. She attended German Valley country school. In 1929, she moved with her family to a farm in the Lexington area.
She married
Emil Struempler on Sept. 30, 1931. They lived in the Buffalo community area most of their married
life. Her husband passed away in 1983. Because of declining health, she moved to Westerville in 1993 and lived with her nephew and his wife.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Buffalo and the Lutheran Ladies Aid. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and flowers.
Survivors include a son, George Struempler of Lexington; two daughters and son-in-law, Ruth and Don Cyriacks of Oakhurst, Calif., and Joyce Wright of Bullhead City, Ariz.; three grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a sister, Wilma Brandt of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; a grandson; a brother, Orie; and a sister, Ella.
Verna Haubold
88, Retired teacher
LONGMONT, Colo. -- Verna L. Haubold, 88, of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Nebraska, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at the Loveland Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, Colo.
Services were Friday at the Ahlberg Funeral Home in Longmont, Colo., and also will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Cheryl Lamb will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Miss Haubold was born Jan. 28, 1913, in Franklin County to Charley and Anna P. (Lee) Haubold. She was a 1933 graduate with a bachelor's degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a 1948 graduate with a master's degree from the University of Colorado. She taught for eight years in Nebraska and taught biology for 20 years at Longmont High School. She retired in 1967 because of multiple sclerosis. She moved to Longmont, Colo., in 1945 from Palmer.
She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Longmont, Colo. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (Woman's Teacher's Honorary), St. Vrain Valley Retired School Employees Association, Longmont United Hospital Auxiliary and the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Annie Haubold of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn E. Haubold.
Joseph DeCamp
Joseph H. DeCamp, 70, of Grand Island died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at
St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Curran Funeral Chapel.
Jennie Moyer
Jennie M. Moyer, 88, of Grand Island died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center Skilled Care.
Services will be Friday at Burke, S.D. Burial will be in Lucas, S.D.
Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie Scheel
Marjorie E. Scheel, 82, of Grand Island died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at the Lakeview Nursing Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Eske will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or to Messiah Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Scheel was born Sept. 8, 1918, on a farm southeast of Grand Island to William and Wilhelmena (Knefelkamp) Blaise. She grew up and attended Hall County schools.
She married
Lawrence Scheel on Aug. 22, 1940, in Grand Island.
She served as a caregiver for her niece Judy Blaise.
Her interests included crocheting, sewing, and making a loving home for her family.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband of Grand Island; one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Pat Scheel of Grand Island; two granddaughters; two sisters, Wilhelmena Mapes of Portland, Ore., and Florence Froemming of Caldwell, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna, Dorothy, and Evelyn; two brothers, Art and Bob; and niece Judy Blaise.
