Robert "Bob" L. Rombach, 76, of Grand Island died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.

BROKEN BOW -- Naomi Armstrong, 89, formerly of Broken Bow, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Milder Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow.
'Eddie' Fenton
86, Retired businessman
BROKEN BOW -- Edward "Eddie" O. Fenton, 86, of Broken Bow died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Bruce Freeman officiating.
A register book can be signed by friends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Broken Bow.
Mr. Fenton was born Aug. 4, 1914, in North Loup to George and Meta (Huebner) Fenton. His mother died when he was young. Later his father married
his Aunt Clara, who raised him and his siblings. He grew up in the North Loup area in Valley County.
In 1938, he married
Lucille Walbrecht. The couple moved to Omaha, where he drove a milk truck. Later, they moved to Ord, where he ran a cream station and worked at Zlomke Furniture. They then moved from Ord to Gothenburg, where he worked for Morris Paint, before moving to Broken Bow, where he worked for Tripletts. They lived in Sargent for a short time, and he ran a furniture store there. In 1959, they returned to Broken Bow, where he started Eddie's Floor Covering. He retired in the early 1980s. He became a resident of Sandhills Manor in 1997.
Mr. Fenton was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Broken Bow.
His hobbies included attending horse races, visiting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Kuhlman of Vancouver, Wash., and Mickey (Mrs. Alan) Daily of Broken Bow; one son, Gary of Broken Bow; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Smith of Toole, Utah, and Bernice Boyd of Lima, Ohio; and two brothers, Don of Grand Island and Darrel of Lima, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and an infant brother.
Earnest Whiting
ORD -- Earnest Whiting, 91, of Ord died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at the Burwell Community Memorial Health Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ord Christian Church. The Rev. Michael Chase will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery at Scotia.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Community Memorial Health Center.
Myrna Meyer
Myrna B. Meyer, 70, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Lakeview Nursing/Rehab Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Ladies Aid, Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island or to the Trinity Lutheran Memorial Fund in Campbell.
Mrs. Meyer was born March 3, 1930, at Norfolk to George and Opal (Wenke) Kennedy. She grew up in Norfolk and graduated from high school in Lincoln. She went on to graduate from Bryan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Lincoln. She was employed in Lincoln and then relocated to Hastings, where she worked at the Hastings Regional Center.
She married
Eugene Bantz. She later married
Lawrence F. Meyer on March 3, 1975, in Kearney. The couple lived in Grand Island, where Mrs. Meyer was employed at Lutheran Memorial Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center and Lakeview Nursing Center. She retired in 1994.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was involved in genealogy research, and she enjoyed nursing.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Meyer of Grand Island; three daughters, Jackey Griffen of Las Vegas, Nev., Jan May of Denver, Colo. and Joleen Grossamy of Omaha; four step-sons, Larry Meyer of Omaha, Gary Meyer of Atchison, Kan., Roger Meyer of Fremont and Lonnie Meyer of Grand Island; five grandchildren; 27 step-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Kennedy of Arlington, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Cornell Sober
SHELTON -- Cornell S. Sober, 85, of Shelton died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. The Rev. Patsy Busey will officiate. Mr. Sober's body was donated to the University of Nebraska Medical Center Anatomical Board.
Mr. Sober was born Aug. 14, 1915, at Shelton to Clyde and Mertie Sober. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1932.
He married
Marjorie Beetem in 1935. He worked for the railroad and farmed until 1947, when he started his own business in Shelton. He owned a cafe, gas station and night club. He also sold used cars.
He moved to Grand Island in 1959, and continued in the used car business. In 1965, he moved to California and sold used cars. He married
Phyllis Johnson in 1967, and adopted her daughter. He retired in 1980, and moved back to Shelton, where he lived until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, of Shelton; a brother, Melvin of Greeley, Colo.; four sons, Jimmie of San Diego, Calif., Ronald "Joe" of New Braumfels, Texas, Terry of Fullerton, Calif. and Dale "Scott" of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Karen Skinner of Fresno, Calif., Pamela Miller of Grand Island, Judy Borowski of Fullerton, Calif. and Kelly Jo Chastine of Colton, Calif.; a step-daughter, Judy Meester of Holdrege; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two sisters; a brother; and two sons.
Teckla Wroblewski
LOUP CITY -- Teckla D. Wroblewski, 86, of Loup City died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery in Elba. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The rosary will be recited in Polish at 6 p.m., with a vigil service and rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice.
Valerie Brown
Valerie Renae Brown, 24, of Oakwood, Ga., formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her home in Oakwood, Ga.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Daniel Bremer will officiate. There will be a Family Prayer Service at 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Briana Brown Trust Fund.
She was born Dec. 23, 1975, to Willie and Penny (Fife) Brown at Grand Island. She grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1995. She attended Joseph's College of Beauty from which she graduated in November 1996. After her graduation she was employed at Peel's Salon Services, Regis Hairstylists and Pizza Hut prior to moving to Oakwood, Ga., where she was employed by Dean's Hair Salon and by City Plumbing and Electrical.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grand Island and the Cosmetologist Association. She thoroughly enjoyed fixing hair.
Survivors include her parents, Willie and Penny Brown of Grand Island; one daughter, Briana Brown of Oakwood, Ga., formerly of Grand Island; one sister, Victoria (Mrs. Leonard) Crockett of Grand Island; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Fife of Norwalk, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Oma Brown.
