Donald Collister
Donald G. Collister, 72, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary all at Blessed Sacrament Catholic church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Collister was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Ida County, Iowa to John and Harriett (Rose) Collister. He grew up and received his education at Battle Creek, Iowa.
He married
Donna Roberts on Aug. 17, 1947, in Arthur, Iowa. Mr. Collister entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 14, 1952 in Omaha. He was discharged on Jan. 27, 1954. The couple moved to Grand Island in 1955. He was employed by Agricultural Services in Grand Island.
In 1963 he and his wife Donna started DonCo Service Inc. which they owned and operated. Mrs. Collister died in 1976. Mr. Collister retired in 1990.
Mr. Collister was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic church, A.A., the Platt-Duetsche, the Eagles Club and the Saddle Club. He also did volunteer work at the Lincoln Penal Complex.
Survivors include his fiancee', Jean Rose of Grand Island; one son, Steve Collister of Grand Island; one daughter Teresa Collister of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Ehrig.
Jason Rayburn
Jason Scott Rayburn, 27, of Oakwood, Ga., formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, in Oakwood.
Mr. Rayburn's body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Rayburn was born Aug. 19, 1973, at Beatrice, to Leo and Rana (Mangnall) Rayburn. He grew up and attended school in Beatrice until the seventh grade when he moved with his family to Kearney. The family moved to Grand Island and Mr. Rayburn graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1990.
Following high school he operated his own cleaning business.
He married
Lori Kosmicki. He moved to Georgia in April of this year and began working for United Parcel Service.
He was active in Boy Scouts in his youth. He was a member of the Grand Island Archery Club and the Grand Island Rifle Club. He enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Rana and Patrick Nolan of Grand island; his father and stepmother, Leo and Yolanda Rayburn of Grand Island; one brother, Eric Rayburn of Alda; grandparents, Cecil and Dorothy Mangnall of Filley, Arthur and Evelyn Achtemeier of Beatrice and William and Jo Haymond of Tampa, Fla. four stepbrothers, Michael Nolan, Eric Nolan, Travis Nolan and Tim Gregory; and one stepsister, Tiffany Gregory.
Pearl Schlitt
AURORA, Colo. -- Pearl V. Schlitt, 84, of Aurora, Colo., died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Aurora, Colo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Green Hill cemetery at Laramie, Wyo.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Montgomery/Stryker Mortuary in Laramie, Wyo.
Memorials are suggested to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center.
Olinger Aurora Chase Mortuary of Aurora and Montgomery/Stryker Mortuary in Laramie, Wyo. are in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schlitt was born April 17, 1916, at Central City to Leonard and Nellie Kuhn.
On Dec. 11, 1940, she married
Merwin D. Schlitt at Lincoln. They moved to Laramie and ran a grocery store. After the death of Mr. Schlitt she went to work as a baker at the University of Wyoming. Upon her retirement she moved to Aurora, Colo.
She was a member of Women of Moose. She enjoyed watching baseball and football and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Leslie W. Schlitt of Aurora, Colo.; one daughter, Rose A. Waring of Chehalis, Wash.; one brother, Roy W. Kuhn of Ames, Iowa; one sister, Mary J. Sanderson of Central City; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Archie Kuhn; and two sisters, Eva Ilene Hanner and Luella Mae Lunsford.
Frances Dolton
Frances L. Dolton, 83, of Grand Island died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at St. Francis Skilled Care.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Arlene Steinwart
Arlene B. Steinwart, 81, of Grand Island died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at BryanLGH East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice or the Kristi Zimmer Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Steinwart was born Nov. 14, 1919, at Sumner to John and Blanche (Sours) Machan. She moved to Farwell when she was 3 years old, then to Dannebrog where she attended District 74 School. In 1929, she moved to Cedar Rapids where she continued her education.
She married
Louis H. Steinwart on Aug. 21, 1935, in Fullerton. The couple farmed in the Cedar Rapids, Belgrade and Fullerton areas where she was a 4-H leader and taught square dancing for several years. She moved to Grand Island in 1956 where she was employed for more than 20 years as a bartender and waitress in various clubs and bars including the Platt-Duetsche, the Eagles Club and Fonner Park. She retired in 1979 due to a stroke and a heart condition. Her husband died on June 6, 1993.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for more than 40 years, the Platt-Duetsche Society, Eagles Auxiliary and the Farmers Union Ladies Guild. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, cooking, playing cards, canning, gardening and her family.
Survivors include twin sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert and Jackie Steinwart of Grand Island and Donald and Betty Steinwart of Gering; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lou and Richard Hellbusch of Belgrade; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Deanna Bolles; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Machan.
Florence Dibbern
83, Farmer's wife
CENTRAL CITY -- Florence Dibbern, 83, of Central City died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Long Term Care in Central City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Solt Funeral Home Chapel in Central City with the Rev. Rich Savage officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested in her name.
Mrs. Dibbern was born on Dec. 21, 1917, in Hall County to Emil and Amanda (Beberniss) Hann. She grew up in the Grand Island area, attended rural Hall County school and Grand Island Senior High. After completing her education, she worked for families in their homes.
She married
Harold Dibbern on Sept. 3, 1938, in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island until Mr. Dibbern entered the United States Navy. She and their children went to San Diego to be near him during his service. After returning to Nebraska, the couple farmed in Merrick County. They retired from farming in 1985 and moved into Central City.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City. She volunteered for the special education classes at the Central City Elementary School and at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop.
She enjoyed her yard, flowers and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Martha Dibbern of York; one daughter and son-in-law, Harolyn and Ronald B. Miller of Central City; two brothers and sister-in-law, Albert Hann of California and Harry and Dorothy Hann of East Grand Forks, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Hann and one sister, Lorraine Dibbern.
