Loretta Ericksen
Loretta Elizabeth Ericksen, 82, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at the Wedgewood Care Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Gretchen Diers will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Ericksen was born on July 17, 1916, to Harley and Mable (Dean) Smith at Aurora. She grew up and received her education at Aurora, where she graduated from high school. She then graduated from the Lincoln Business College.
On Oct. 30, 1938, she married
Arnold Erickson at Lincoln. They moved t Grand Island in 1939.
Mrs. Ericksen was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lynda Gravett of Springfield, Mo. and Ardyth Condon of Andover, Kan.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Andrew Molczyk
TOLLESON, Ariz. -- Andrew P. Molczyk, 71, of Tolleson, Ariz., formerly of Spalding, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Tolleson, Ariz.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dolce Scheef Mortuary in Spalding with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Mr. Molczyk was born May 8, 1928, in Cedar Rapids to Charles and Mary (Bonach) Molczyk. he attended rural grade school near Spalding. He worked as a farm hand and at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant at Grand Island. In 1952 he joined the U.S. Air Force at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Ariz.
On Feb. 16, 1953, he married
Colleen Dunning at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita, Texas. Upon his discharge in 1956 he returned to phoenix and worked as an aircraft mechanic until retirement.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Paula (Mrs. Kent) Hepworth of Powell, Tenn.; three sons, Michael and Robert of Avondale, Ariz. and Gerald of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Helen Engel of Seattle, Wash., Frances Iwan of Albion and Irene Arthur of Grand Island; four brothers, Ted and Raymond of Spalding, Frank of Rochester, Mich. and Charles of western Nebraska; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna; one sister, Delores Shade; and one brother, Norbert.
Rev. Fred Ollendorf
HASTINGS -- The Rev. Fred A. Ollendorf, 86, of Hastings died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Perkins Pavillion at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with Dr. Howard B. Franzen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings.
Visitation is until 9 p.m. Friday at Brand-Wilson Mortuary in Hastings.
Rev. Ollendorf was born on March 24, 1913, at Wisner to the Rev. August and Elizabeth (Wolff) Ollendorf. He married
Ruth Peters on April 8, 1951.
He began serving as a pastor in 1940. He was minister at Good Shepherd Church in Lindy; St. Paul's in Follet, Texas; Christ Lutheran in Shattuck, Okla.; Zion Lutheran in Platte Center; St. John's in Northboro, Iowa; St. John's in Leigh; St. John's in Cozad; St. John's in Bendena, Kan.; and St. John's in Hampton, Iowa.
He retired from the ministry in 1979 and moved to Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. His wife died on May 30, 1992.
He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Synod in Iowa.
Survivors include one sister, Ruth Engstrom of Lincoln; and one brother, Walter of Mesa, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and one brother.
Corinne Stewart
ORD -- Corinne M. Stewart, 75, of Ord died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at her home in Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. James B. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. There will be family visitation only.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
James Caufield
SPRINGVIEW -- James M. Caufield, 84, of Springview died Monday, July 12, 1999, at Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln.
Services were held Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Springview. The Rev. Howard Dixon officiated. Military honors were conducted by members of the Springview American Legion and VFW.
Memorials were suggested to the family in his name.
Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Caufield was born April 16, 1915, at Walnut to Terance and Nettie (Scriven) Caufield.
He served in the united States Army, entering on Feb. 20, 1942, at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. and was discharged on Nov. 21, 1945, at Fort Logan, Colo. with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade.
On April 6, 1946, he married
Betty C. Pound on April 6, 1946, at Oberlin, Kan.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dick of Springview; his daughter, Ternie (Mrs. Laron) Wright of Broken Bow; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Evert Combs
BURWELL -- Evert F. Combs, 66, of Burwell died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. The Rev. Michael Laing will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Fund or the family.
Mr. Combs was born July 16, 1932, in Lead, S.D., to Edward and May (Kinney) Combs.
LeRoy Deeter
LEXINGTON -- LeRoy E. Deeter, 54 of Lexington died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at his shop in Lexington.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. The Rev. Dr. Larry Kline will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Deeter was born Oct. 5, 1944, at Lexington to James Roy and Edith (Carlson) Deeter. He grew up and attended school in Lexington graduating from Lexington High School with the class of 1962. He then went onto attend school at Milford and was a membr of the Nebraska National Guard.
He married
Karen Weissert on Oct. 21, 1967, at Elwood. The couple lived in Lexington where Mr. Deeter took over ownership of Deeter Machine and Welding/until 1983 when his interests changed to dealing in classic cars after the death of his father.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, a past member of the Mid-Nebraska Corvette Club and Vette Club and was still a member of the Goldenrod Car Club at Lexington.
He loved to spend time with his cars and as a younger man you could find him on many weekends at the drag strip.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael Deeter of Hastings; one daughter, Stacie Deeter of Lincoln; and two sisters, Vel (Mrs. Bill) Delap of Gault, Calif., and Marylin (Mrs. Jim) Crawford of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donal.
