Edward Grella
BEATRICE -- Edward M. Grella, 64, of Beatrice died Tuesday, July 14, 1999, at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Palmer Funeral home in Fullerton. The Rev. Terry Otto will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
Mr. Grella was born June 30, 1935 in Big Springs to Ed "E.A." and Pearl (Martz) Grella. he grew up in Central City and attended Central City Schools.
On March 21, 1960, he married
Jayme D. Pickrel of Fullerton in Nelson. They lived in Fullerton in the early 60's and 70's where Mr. Grella was a mechanic and Chief of Police and drove truck.
In 1976, they moved to Beatrice where they managed restaurants. In 1983, they moved to Arizona where they managed mobile home parks. In 1996, they returned to Beatrice due to his health.
He enjoyed automobiles, antique cars, gambling and tinkering in his shop.
Survivors include his wife, Jayme of Beatrice; one son, Joseph Grella of Beatrice; three daughters, Teresa (Mrs. Ray) Burton of Shawnee, Okla., Pamela (Mrs. Jerry) Baker of Filley and Debra (Mrs. David) Hackler of Beatrice; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Frances (Mrs. Nels) Christensen of Apache Junction, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Rose Burns
COCOA, Fla. -- Rose Lomasney Burns, 91, of Cocoa, Fla., died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at the National Healthcare Center in Merritt Island, Fla.
Mrs. Burns' body was cremated. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. There will be a 6 p.m. rosary at the funeral home led by the Rev. Jack Rademacher.
Mrs. Burns was born on Jan. 20, 1908, in Worchester, Mass. to Paul and Clara (Demers) Fournier.
She received her education at St. Ann's Academy in Canada.
She had lived in Brevard County Florida for the past 25 years, having moved there from Boston. Mrs. Burns was a retired office supervisor in the insurance industry.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Cocoa, Fla.
Her hobbies included playing bingo.
Survivors include one son, George B. Lomasney of Grand Island; one daughter, April "Rosemary" Venuti of Cocoa, Fla.; two brothers, Laurent Fournier of Boston and Henry Fournier of cocoa; two sisters, Claire Leonard of Boston and Alice Lacey of Brattleboro, Me.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Raymond Filges
Raymond F. Filges, 87, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Western Hall County Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services are pending with Curran Funeral Chapel.
Mabel Johnson
Mabel K. (Irwin) Johnson, 89, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Johnson was born on July 22, 1912, in Spencer to Earl and Una (James) Allen. She grew up and received her education in the Spencer area.
She married
Vernie Irwin on April 20, 1935, in Gregory, S.D. The couple lived in Albion until 1943, at which time they moved to Grand Island. Mr. Irwin died in 1960.
She married
Ralph Johnson on Oct. 18, 1963, in San Gabriel, Calif. The couple lived in Los Angeles and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. Mr. Johnson died in July 1984. Mrs. Johnson returned to Grand Island in 1988.
During her years in Grand Island she was employed at the glove factory and the paper factory at the Grand Island Air Base. She also worked at the Red Stamp Store, retiring in 1963.
She was a member of the United Congregational Church.
Survivors include one stepson, Kenneth Johnson of California; three daughters, Arline Busler of Northglenn, Colo., LaVerne Ring of Grand Island and Faye Thoendel of Imperial; two stepdaughters, Norma Irland of California and Donna Forslund of California; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and one sister, Margaret Kaul of O'Neill.
Other than her two husbands, she was preceded in death by four grandchildren; four brothers, Grover Allen, Albert Allen, James Allen and Robert Allen; and three sisters, Maude Kersch, Marion Loken and Marjorie Allen.
Pat Koch
Pat L. Koch, 79, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center of Grand Island.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with a family prayer service at 1:15 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Martin Schmidt will officiate. Inurnment will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Koch was born on Jan. 7, 1922, at Grand Island. She spent her childhood years living with her grandparents, Charles and Eva Stout. She attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. During summer vacations and junior high school years she lived with her mother, Avis "Diddy" Stout Hickman and her stepfather.
She married
Robert J. Denman on Nov. 1, 1941.
She married
Kenneth Koch on Oct. 30, 1968, at Las Vegas. The couple lived in the Grand Island area for more than 30 years. She worked at KMMJ Radio and for the Hall County Housing Authority for 10 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Koch; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carole Denman of Grand Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dixie and Warren Sanger of Ashland and Linda Luddington of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Sheryl and Michael Knuth of Grand Island and Patricia and Jerry Spellman of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepson, Ron Koch of Lakewood, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Larry Koch.
Cecilia Targ
Cecilia M. Targ, 85, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Services and burial will be held in Claremont, N.H.
Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dennis Wojahn
Dennis V. Wojahn, 53, of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at his home in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Voelker will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or the NRA.
Mr. Wojahn was born on June 27, 1948, in Ortonville, Minn., to Virgil and Frances Wojahn. He attended grade school and high school at Revillo, S.D., and attended Northern University at Aberdeen, S.D. He also served in the National Guard.

Julie Evans on Dec. 21, 1985.
He was an associated broker and real estate appraiser since 1973. He specialized in residential, new construction and commercial sales. He was a past president of the Grand Island Board of Realtors, past director of the Nebraska Realtors Association, and current member of the state and national Realtors associations. He was a graduate of the Realtors Institute of Nebraska.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Frances and Frank Ambrose of Grand Island; two daughters, Becky Olson of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kylie Wojahn of Highland Ranch, Colo.; two sons, Christopher of Wilton, N.D., and Cody of Highland Ranch, Colo.; two brothers, Wayne of Rochester, Minn., and David of Hastings; two sisters, Debra Janssen of Garvin, Minn., and Karla Karr of Grand Island; and two stepsisters, Mary and Karen Ambrose, both of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his father.
