'Lee' Titman
COLUMBUS -- Alta L. "Lee" Titman, 82, of Columbus died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Genoa Long Term Care in Genoa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. The Rev. Gary Main will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Aurora City cemetery in Aurora.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Titman was born on Sept. 19, 1918, on a farm near Aurora to Lester J. and Frances M. (Johnson) Caulkins. She grew up in Aurora and attended rural schools where she graduated in 1936, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was awarded a two-year scholarship at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she majored in Latin. She taught two years at a rural school in Hamilton County. She then worked four years for a lawyer named Adams in Aurora.
She married
Leonard Titman on Nov. 19, 1943, in Colorado. Following her husband's time in the service, she moved to Hastings where she worked in a state office. She then moved to Columbus in 1956. She worked for R.W. Beck & Associates for 25 years -- 21 years in Columbus and four years in Minneapolis. She retired and returned to Columbus in 1981.
She was a member of the Prairie Gem Church in Aurora and was a 46-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to play bingo and watch the Huskers.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Houghton of Omaha and Susan and George Wagner of Columbus; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Helena Titman of Columbus; one brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Donna Caulkins of Lincoln; two sisters, Anna Ransom of Stoughton, Wis., and Donna Titman of Grand Island; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant son; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Ransom and Bernard Titman.
Jerry Kelly
65, Systems Analyst
LITTLETON, Colo. -- Jerry R. Kelly, 65, of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, June 2, 2001.
Services took place on June 8.
Mr. Kelly was born in Omaha on Nov. 26, 1935. He was educated in Grand Island. He married
Evonne Kelly in 1967. He was employed as a systems analyst at Lockheed Martin.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael and Patrick, both of Northglenn, Colo., and Scott of Thornton, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
David Sanders
KEO, Ark. -- David Sanders, 83, of Keo, Ark., formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, in Minneapolis, Minn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Creation Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Ark. Burial will be in Simons cemetery in Scott, Ark.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Watson-Northcrest Funeral Home in North Little Rock, Ark.
Survivors include one brother, Samuel Sanders Sr. of Minneapolis, Minn., and one sister, Katie Mae Flonnoy of Little Rock, Ark.
Peter Blomstedt
Peter E. Blomstedt, 92, of Grand Island, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Ramona Carlile
71, Horse racing worker
PHILLIPS -- Ramona Lee Carlile, 71, of Phillips, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at a Lincoln hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. There will be no visitation because Mrs. Carlile was cremated.
Mrs. Carlile was born on Jan. 12, 1930, at Enid, Okla., to Leo and Thelma (Telinde) Wills. She grew up in Enid and lived in California for a short time before moving to Nebraska in 1966. She moved to Phillips in 1971.
She worked for many years in the mutual department on the Nebraska horse racing circuit.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Cheatham of Perkins, Okla., and Dian Griffith of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Alan Carlile of Aurora; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and close friend, Arthur Plith of Phillips.
'Dusty' Marker
20, Sand, gravel worker
KEARNEY -- Dustin R. "Dusty" Marker, 20, of Kearney, formerly of Central City, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, near Hordville due to a traffic accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Community Bible Church in Central City. The Rev. Gilbert Larsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Marker was born on July 28, 1980 to Rhonda Marker and Lloyd Brittain. He attend Central City Schools. He worked at Carl Whitney Sand and Gravel in Kearney.
He enjoyed fishing, reading books and working on cars and stereos. He also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include his parents, Don and Ronda (Marker) Fisher of Central City and Lloyd and Barbara Brittain of Ohiowa; one brother, Corey Marker of Kearney; two sisters, Crystal Marker and Heather Marker both of Central City; two grandmothers, Darlene Marker and Alice Brittain, both of Central City; and special friend Josey Roberts of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Emmett Marker and Merle Brittain.
Mary Pritchard
SPALDING -- Mary Pritchard, 56, of Spalding, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the University Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. The Rev. Joe Hannappel will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Connor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with rosaries at 4:30 and 7 p.m. at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Spalding Academy or the American Cancer Society.
The Dolce Scheef Mortuary in Spalding is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pritchard was born on Oct. 29, 1944, at Greeley, to Thomas and Margaret (Joyce) Foster. She attended school in Braton. She graduated from Greeley Sacred Heart High School in 1962.
She married
Daniel Pritchard on Aug. 14, 1965. Mr. Pritchard was a farmer and Mrs. Pritchard helped in the fields, with cattle and with operating Pritchard's Dairy.
She also made wedding and birthday cakes, sewing projects, gardened and canned. She took a cake decorating class and taught classes to young people. She was also a 4-H leader in Spalding.
Mrs. Pritchard was recognized by the Rural Affairs Business REAP as "Business Person of the Year" in 1993 and "Outstanding Parishioner" in 1999 by the Rev. Frank Hoelck.
She also ran her own business, Pritchard's Kitchen, and catered the Spalding Alumni celebrations for 10 years.
She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and catered meals for the group as well.
Mrs. Pritchard was also a Hospice provider, volunteered for the Red Cross and participated in RCIA. She also volunteered with the Greeley County Fair for many years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Lynn (Mrs. Rey) de los Angeles of Kearney and Ann Ackles of Grand Island; three sons, Craig and Melissa Pritchard of Kearney, Jeff and Janelle Pritchard of Spalding, and Patrick Pritchard of Grand Island; two sisters, Jean Pfeifer of Spalding and Delores Christen of Broken Bow; one brother, Michael Foster of Greeley; and six grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
