Elsie Nelson
BROKEN BOW -- Elsie Nelson, 87, of Broken Bow died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services were Tuesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Rick Johnson officiated. Burial was in the Westerville Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
Miss Nelson was born Jan. 27, 1914, near Comstock to John and Emma (Person) Nelson. She attended Mt. Custer rural school in the Dry Valley community in Custer County. She lived with her brother, Oscar Nelson, on a farm near Westerville. After he died on Oct. 4, 1979, she moved to Broken Bow. She had been a resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home since December 1995.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Harold Placke
64, Farmer and rancher
NORTH LOUP -- Harold D. Placke, 64, of North Loup died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his home northeast of North Loup in Greeley County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside cemetery at North Loup.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the North Loup/Scotia EMTs or the family's choice.
Mr. Placke was born June 13, 1936, to Walter and Alvena M. (Kriewald) Placke on the family farm northeast of North Loup. He was a 1954 graduate of North Loup High School.
On Nov. 20, 1990, he married
Neoma Morgan at St. Paul. He farmed and ranched on "Placke Ranch, " the family farm, his entire life.
He was a member of Amateur Trap Shooters Association.
His hobbies included trap shooting, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; one sister, Mary Jean Placke of North Loup; two stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Skippy and Nichole Brannon of Sioux Falls, S.D. and James Brannon of Grand Island; two stepdaughters and stepson-in-law, Norma Jean Long of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Kelly and Jim Baker of Quenemo, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Janet Neben
LEXINGTON -- Janet J. Neben, 66, of Lexington died Sunday, June 3, 2001, as a result of an airplane accident near Lyons, Colo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Neb., with the Rev. Edwin Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.
Signing of a memorial book will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Christian and Missionary Alliance, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

LEXINGTON -- Lester E. Neben, 67, of Lexington died Sunday, June 3, 2001, as a result of an airplane accident near Lyons, Colo.

BREWSTER -- Roberta Schneidereit, 66, of Brewster died Sunday, June 3, 2001, in Colorado.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brewster Gymnasium with the Rev. Robert Strawn officiating. Burial will be in the German Valley cemetery north of Brewster.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- Augusta (Zutavern) Bowen, 87, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., formerly of Dunning, died Monday, June 4, 2001, in California.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Jerry Hackbart
58, Aircraft mechanic
SEBRING, Fla. -- Jerry A. Hackbart, 58, of Sebring, Fla., died Monday, June 4, 2001.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Church of Christ in Sebring with the Revs. Frank Parker and Jack McGhee officiating.
Visitation is planned from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Hackbart was born on Oct. 11, 1942. He attended the Church of Christ in Sebring.
Survivors include his wife, June Hackbart; one daughter, Kristal Burgess of Avon Park, Fla.; one son, Brien Hackbart of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren; five brothers, Leroy of Bend, Ore., Daryl of Miami, Wayne of St. Louis, Norman of Julesburg, Colo., and Dale Hackbart of Des Moines, Iowa; and four sisters, Donna Mae O'Brien of Shelton, Caryl Fee of Omaha, Jo Ann Roberts of Kearney and Sue Ann Jewett of Lincoln.
Donald Bergholz
75, Retired Union Pacific car foreman
Donald F. Bergholz, 75, of Grand Island died June 20, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Keyser officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Visitation was Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Masonic Children's Home in Fremont.
Mr. Bergholz was born Feb. 2, 1926, at Grand Island to Richard and Minnie (Schroeder) Bergholz. He was raised and received his education in Grand Island, where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He enlisted on June 17, 1944, in Farragut, Idaho, and was honorably discharged as Seaman 1st Class on March 30, 1946, at Alameda, Calif.
He married
Erma Cornelius on May 4, 1947, at Grand Island. They lived in Phillips for 13 years and later lived in Grand Island, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a car and derrick foreman.
He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Keystone No. 62 Masonic Lodge of Phillips, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 204, where he served as worthy patron of Phillips, VFW, American Legion, Platt-Duetsche and U.P. Old-timers Club.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard "Butch" and Jean Bergholz of Lincoln, Donald "Joe" and Debbie Bergholz of the Netherlands, Robert "Bob" and Linda Bergholz of Lincoln and Michael "Smokey" and Sheri Bergholz of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Robert Martin of Omaha and Judith and Charles Bahensky of Aurora, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Paul Grosshans of Central City.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Harry, Raymond and Richard.
