Myrtle Carlson
STROMSBURG -- Myrtle J. Carlson, 90, of Stromsburg, formerly of Silver Creek, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Beverly Minor will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Kepner-Roberts Funeral Home in Osceola.
Mrs. Carlson was born Nov. 7, 1910, to John and Emma (Carlson) Peterson in Stromsburg. She graduated from Stromsburg High School.
She married
C.R. "Rags" Carlson on March 14, 1932. They lived at Havens, Silver Creek and Stromsburg. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, UMW, a charter member of the Nebraska Flying Farmers and International Flying Farmers.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Janet Carlson of Silver Creek; four daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Wieseman of Stromsburg, Karleen and Ron Loseke of Osceola, Mavis and Marlan Hill of Sioux City, Iowa, and Patricia and Tom DeLay of Norfolk; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 10, 1999; one brother, Martin; a grandson; and a son-in-law Maurice Watts Jr.
Eleanor Dankert
78, Homemaker
CENTRAL CITY -- Eleanor I. L. Dankert, 78, of Central City died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at the Merrick Manor.
Services are at 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City with the Rev. Bradley Rick officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mrs. Dankert was born on April 30, 1923, in Ludell, Kan., to Mathias and Martha (Holle) Fleischacker. She grew up and received her education in the Ludell area. After completing school, she helped her family on the farm.
On June 2, 1946, she married
Alfred H. Dankert in Ludell. They farmed near Worms, Chapman and Archer. They moved to Central City in 1967. Mr. Dankert died on Aug. 16, 1989. She moved into Merrick Manor in July 2000.
She was a homemaker and partner with her husband in their farming. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms and then transferred her membership to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City, where she also was a member of the JOY Group.
She enjoyed participating in activities and helping out at the Central City Senior Center. While living at Merrick Manor, she enjoyed taking part in the craft projects.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis Dankert of Hampton and Ron and Shelly Dankert of Central City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Clinton Hensen and Carol and Bill Wilcox, all of Central City and Delores "Dee" and Harold Sautter of Aurora; one sister, Irene Buk of Atwood, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Math Fleischacker; and one great-grandson.
Jerry Reinhard
74, Farmer
BROKEN BOW -- Jerry Reinhard, 74, of Broken Bow died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at his farm.
Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with military rites at the Broken Bow cemetery in Broken Bow.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Iverson Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Reinhard was born Feb. 27, 1927, to Frank M. and Ethel M. (Stewart) Reinhard on a farm four miles southeast of Broken Bow, and moved to their home on Ryno Table, 12 miles southwest of Broken Bow, soon after. He attended Ryno school through the 10th grade and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1944.
He joined the Navy, served on the USS New Jersey, was a Navy diver in the Philippines and was in Pearl Harbor when the war ended.
He majored in agriculture engineering at the University of Nebraska and dedicated his life to farming.
He married
Jean Nelson of Chappell on Sept. 27, 1953. He served on the Tappan Valley school board for many years, was involved in the Rural Electric Association and was elected as a director of the Custer Public Power District for 391Ž2 years. He was also president of the Nebraska Rural Electric Association from 1985 to 1987 and a director of the Nebraska Electric Generation and Transmission Cooperative, Inc., in Columbus since 1995.
Over the past 22 years, he gave many presentations at the NREA Youth Energy Camp in Halsey and in July 2000 was awarded the "Friend of the NREA Youth Energy Camp Award" for his support in the program.
He enjoyed visiting with people, history, fishing, cross country road trips and was a Husker fan.
Survivors include his wife; his sister, Marge Neth; four sons and daughters-in-law, Scott of Broken Bow, Mark and Kim of Hastings, Kent and Theresa of Bennett and Eric and Nicole of Broken Bow; one daughter, Robyn of LaPorte, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David.
'Dee' Holden
LEXINGTON -- Delores R. "Dee" Holden, 71, of Lexington died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington. The Rev. Don Buhrman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. A wake service will follow at 7:30 p.m. at St. Ann's.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Mrs. Holden was born Jan. 12, 1930, at Axtell to John Gomez and Lydia (Michel) Hernandez. She moved with her family from Axtell to Lincoln as a young girl. She attended school in Lincoln.
She married
Genaro "Sharkie" Munoz on Dec. 20, 1948, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington. The couple had four children.
She then married
Merlin Holden on Aug. 12, 1991, at Lexington. She spent her life caring for her family. She loved music and dancing.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the church altar society and a past member of an Extension Club.
Throughout her working years, she worked for Plectron Corp. in Overton, the Sixth Street Food Store in Lexington for 20 years and the Veterans Club. Prior to becoming ill, she worked for Sav-a-Lot.
Survivors include her husband; three sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Jayne Munoz of Plano, Texas, Steve and Norine Munoz of Grand Island and Mike and Joan Munoz of Newton, Iowa; three stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Nickie Holden of Eau Claire, Wis., Gregory and Jenny Holden of Glenwood City, Wis., and Todd Holden of Menomonie, Wis.; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Bob Harders of Cairo; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mike Hernandez, Tom and Emily Hernandez, Joe and Angie Hernandez and Jerry Hernandez, all of Lexington; one sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Phillip Araujo of Lexington; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and John; and one sister, Paula.
Stanley Owen
80, Retired carpenter
LITTLETON, Colo. -- Stanley R. Owen, 80, of Littleton, Colo., died Feb. 9, 2001, at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell with the Rev. Scott Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic cemetery in Ord.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Burwell Legion Post 298.
Mr. Owen was born May 1, 1920, in Burwell to Thomas and Anna (Shulz) Owen. He attended school in Burwell and graduated from Burwell High School in 1938. He entered the United States Army on May 25, 1942, and was honorably discharged with rank of staff sergeant on Dec. 22, 1945.
He married
Lillian Meese in 1949 in Burwell. He worked as a carpenter before relocating to Littleton, Colo., in 1955. He continued to work in construction, was a member of Carpenter and Millwrights Union No. 1068, retiring in 1982. His wife of 46 years died in 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Genser of Sedalia, Colo.; three sons, Thomas of Littleton, Colo., and Stan and Steve Owen, both of Rockford, Ill.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leah White and Norma Leach of Burwell; and one brother, Ellis of Burwell.
Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
