George L. Brown, 73, of the Nebraska Veterans Home died Thursday, June 14, 2001.

'R.C.' Odom
78, Retired Air Force
Raymond "R.C." C. Odom, 78, of Grand Island died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dominic Pecoraro will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City cemetery with military rites by Fort Riley Kansas Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Curran Funeral Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Odom was born April 27, 1923, at Caruthersville, Mo., to Robert and Flousie (Wheeler) Odom. He grew up and was educated there. He entered the Air Force in January 1943. He operated heavy equipment, constructing various airstrips and roads for the Air Force. He retired on June 1, 1964, after 20 years of service. He returned to Caruthersville after his retirement.
He married
Imogene "Jackie" Lacey in October 1975 at Paragould, Ark. They lived there until moving to Grand Island in 1994.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles Odom of Como, Miss.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Stanley Higgens of Conway, Ark., and Dale and Charles D. Smith of Como; one brother, Billy Odom of St. Louis; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Gerald Wernick of O'Fallon, Mo., and two sisters, Bonnie Donnely of O'Fallon and Irene Odom of Caruthersville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Hilda Hubbard
96, Retired Postal Service
Hilda E. Hubbard, 96, of Grand Island died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. John D. Russell will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.
Mrs. Hubbard was born Feb. 13, 1905, near Grand Island to Ernest and Antonnette (Sass) Senkbeil. She was educated in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island High School in 1922. She served as Hall County Deputy Clerk of Court from 1922 to 1923. She was then employed as the secretary of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce from 1923 until 1925. From 1925 until 1926, she was employed as a secretary at the Buckow and Buenz Abstractors Co. in Grand Island.
In 1926, she moved to Omaha and worked as a secretary in the U.S. Army's regional surgeon's office until 1930. In 1930, she began working for the U.S. Postal Service.
She married
George Hubbard in 1944.
In 1960, Mrs. Hubbard retired after 30 years with the Postal Service. Mr. Hubbard died in 1962. In 1982, she moved to Grand Island.
She loved to crochet and travel She had traveled to every continent.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Mary's Circle at the church, Grand Island Woman's Club, Hall County Historical Society, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, YMCA, Stuhr Museum and the Saddle Club.
Survivors include three nieces, Carol Daberkow and Sharon Melsen, both of Grand Island, and Karen Parish of Gering; and three nephews, Richard Senkbeil of Dallas, James "Bucky" Senkbeil of Chapman and Lynn Senkbeil of Lincoln.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Arthur, and another brother, George.
Frank Lane
Frank J. Lane, 76, of Grand Island died Monday, June 18, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Mr. Lane was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in New York State.
Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bernice Dubbs
WOOD RIVER -- Bernice Dubbs, 79, of Wood River died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Wood River with the Rev. Rose Bartleson officiating. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dubbs was born Oct. 15, 1921, at the family farm near Wood River to George and Dora (Wiese) Rathman. She attended District 5 School in Hall County.
On Jan. 31, 1940, she married
Gerald Dubbs at Wood River. She worked as a welder in the shipyards in Oregon during World War II. She later worked at the Ordnance Plant near Alda and the grocery store in Wood River.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wood River, United Methodist Women and Royal Neighbors.
She enjoyed attending church, golfing and bowling.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bob of Schuyler and Gary and Bev of Elkhorn; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Viola Runge of Wheatridge, Colo., Marie McAhren of Grand Island and Dorothy Hurt of Ashton.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Walt, Louie and Henry Rathman; two sisters, Goldie Pierson and Shirley Callahan; and one grandson.
Naomi Fox
86, Retired dietary aide
BROKEN BOW -- Naomi Fox, 86, of Broken Bow died Monday, June 18, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Dr. Charles Gregory officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow.
Mrs. Fox was born Jan. 16, 1915, at Ansley to George E. and Cecil Flora (Spencer) Munn. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1931.
On Nov. 14, 1931, she married
Robert W. Fox at Taylor. They lived in Berwyn. In 1949, she moved to Broken Bow. She worked as a waitress and dietary aid at Arrow Hotel and later at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home. She retired in 1983.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow and the Rebekahs in Berwyn. She was active in the church and belonged to a Bible study class.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and yard work.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Dippong of LaPorte, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven Fox of Pasadena, Texas and Dennis and Elaine Fox of Arnold; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rowena Trew of Lincoln, Georgena Miller of Hastings, Bonnie Wilson of Litchfield and Donna Henion of Galesburg, Mich.; and one brother, George Munn.
She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Robert; three brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren.
